  1. That's what I thought when I saw it - if he can get in surely The Mindworm, Rocket Racer and Big Wheel can too I must be out of the loop. Back in the day, 119 and 120 were always considered 'keys' due to the Hulk appearance and were priced accordingly. My instinctive list has always been 100, 101, 119, 120, 121, 122, 129 and 194.
  2. I was just hunting when you replied. Is it all happening on FB then? Because it's dead as a dead thing here.
  3. It sold for $15k in November 2015 according to Heritage. Probably worth a bit more now I would've thought.
  4. Only in context. I'd love to know how it was done myself If you ever check my UK Price Variant, L Miller and US Price Font variant threads you'll see discussions about this. From the examples and scenarios I've documented, my belief is that they probably didn't stick to a rigid production pattern when variant copies were first introduced into the print runs from 1960. Maybe by the seventies they did have a standard way of doing it. See above. CGC themselves have noted deeper colour strikes on early pence copies. The scenarios in which this could manifest though are many. Maybe they filled the ink up when they stopped the presses to change the cover plates. I don't think we'll ever know for the early days. Someone could still be around from the seventies though who might remember re these 'Whitman' copies Times have changed for many books. Not all, but many are creeping up in popularity.
  5. Cheers Eric, I didn't know that - where did you hear it? Mikes site is a fabulous resource but I would never use any aspect of it to state definitive proof of anything in my research - it's only ever indicative.
  6. Brilliant. I gave my set to my nephew years back. I looked up some of the cards online. The images stay with you forever don't they.
  7. Yes, and that's on the soft. Remember The Gremlin? Physical strength 1. And The Tarantula - a man of Muco Machinism as we used to say
  8. It's all so disappointing. You'd have thought they'd have at least used Very Fine silver wouldn't you. And if it's a limited mintage, wouldn't they all be 'First Releases'? I tell you, if there's a Second Release planned, I'll be wanting my f money back
  9. Does anyone in England remember these playing cards from the 70's? We had such a great time playing them, me and my brother. Special powers eight! Ah, those were the days....
  10. I'm sure this has been discussed to death elsewhere, but it's a bit silly isn't it. The Universal Blue makes me laugh. If I welded a bit of gold to it would it come back a PLOD? What a load of c
  11. Indeed. One, an ugly, horrible looking thing. The other, a pence copy
  12. I just Googleated it as I recall. I didn't expect a reply in a million years, not least because I forgot to add the return postage cost. I'd sort of forgotten all about it if I'm honest and couldn't believe it when it arrived. Three years I researched those damn font variants and he dismisses them as trivial! I thought that was bloody fantastic
  13. I've posted this elsewhere but here is a letter I received from Steve Ditko back in 2017. This is what I wrote - very crudely - on the 6th of January (we write day then month in the UK): This is what I got back in the post... ...dated the 14th of January - only 12 days after mine! He returned my original letter - note the two green circled prices, which he did to emphasise the point in his letter: Anyway, the point of posting this again - I saw two other letters online recently and both were dated 01/14/17: So on Saturday January the 14th 2017, Steve was responding to letters! God rest his cranky soul
  14. I know what you mean - the mouldy look is massively off-putting isn't it, even for an AF#15. I can see this lot being relisted a few times.
