  1. If you look at AlexH's profile page, you can see that he is one of those members who do not have a 'Last Visited' date recorded - some members have it, some don't: So his last visible activity is March the 17th. I have no horse in this race, and wasn't here when the probation activity was in course, but my reading is that everything I have seen from Lighthouse shows contrition, good faith, and a desire to move on as a better person. If the only obstacle to that progress is a blessing from AlexH - who may or may not have seen the flags, and may or may not retain strong views on the matter - then I agree that a time limit should be placed on them responding. If my reading is correct that one can only be removed from probation with the blessing of those who were wronged, then there is no path for redemption if the wronged member cannot be contacted. I may not know the history, and I only started reading the posts because Lighthouse posted some variants a while back in one of my threads, so I tend to read when he posts, but I feel he is being persecuted a bit here. We have to give people a chance if they have done everything in their power to put their past indiscretions right.
  2. I spotted these two L Miller books on eBay this morning, both CGC graded and labelled as 'U.K. Editions' The 'Verify CGC Certification' function shows the 'UK Edition' status sitting under 'Variant' in the notes and the books were graded in February this year. I was pleased when CGC began to correctly label true UK price variants to just that, 'UK Price Variants', from the previous incorrect designation of 'UK Edition' last year and indeed used reprint books such as the two above in my case to help convince them (many pages back in this thread). That success aside, and I stated this at the time, I do still think that labelling these reprint titles as 'UK Editions' is wrong and misleading as it creates the impression that they are variants, i.e., the UK Edition of a US original book. They are not. They are unique book titles ('Spellbound') which reprint the content of US original books with different titles. In the case of the books above, I would prefer to see the label say something like "UK publisher title reprinting original US material" in place of "UK Edition". The wording should make it clear that the title is a UK published title and it's contents reprint another US titles content. The phrase "UK Edition" doesn't convey that and can give rise to the misunderstanding that there is a US title called 'Spellbound' and that this is the UK version / variant of it. If CGC adopted this further measure they would help to eliminate any lingering confusion in the hobby as to the status of foreign books and show that they fully understand the products that they are encapsulating and recording on our behalf. I hope one day that they will.
  3. Nuff said. I scan front and back for books I list on eBay with 99p starts. It takes about 30 seconds to scan the back. If a seller thinks that 30 seconds is too much trouble for a book they expect someone to pay five figures for then they deserve to go out of business. Stunning arrogance in my opinion. A bit like telling people that newton rings are normal. That kind of arrogance, born of being the 'top dog in town,' gives me the right hump.
  4. Quite amusing really isn't it - the regular edition turns out to be harder to find than the bloody variants...
  5. I heard he joined the Rocket Racer and the Big Wheel and created a super group fronted by the Mind Worm. They're big in Poland apparently.
  6. Moustache, big chin, bag under eye, floppy blonde hair... It's 70's Stan Bloody Lee!
