One other point I'd make, from personal experience, is to not get rid of the core books you really love within a greater collection. Once gone, you may see them again, and feel the urge to do it all over again. To illustrate, I collected an ASM run three times down the years. There's no guarantee that there won't be a fourth...

Who can forget the Dutch http://www.pecokit.com/checklist/ned/index.html They would be local reprints though of course and not your bona fide first printing price variants. Still very nice though.

Batman's ok. He likes his Batman you see. Probably why he chose Batman as his avatar. Liking Batman as he does, as do I, he's just expressing reservations about the new direction. Perfectly reasonable. Look at me, I expressed concerns about the new Doctor Who. Turns out it was much worse than I could ever have imagined. If new Batman turns out to be good though, I'm sure here Batman will be the first to say whoopee. But if it turns out to be a lumpy mattress of poo, then here Batman, being a generally decent chap, will I am sure limit his statements to mild if not general 'I told you it would suck' deliberations. And with a heavy Batman heart. With an exposed ventricle.

That applies in almost all cases of course for those who know their stuff. But not everyone knows their stuff. And for those that are interested in data streams, knowing for example the split of newsstand vs direct in the CGC census might be helpful information.

It happened to me. I had an extensive, near complete Spider-Man 'completist' collection - every issue of every series with every variant. It took years to build, was worth a bomb, and I loved every minute of it. Then a combination of events made me sell the lot. Well, almost the lot. 25 keys left out of an 8,000 book collection. Now I collect tatty pence variants for the five publishers who aren't Marvel or DC to keep me in the game, as I can't live my life without comics. I enjoy collecting and researching them just as much as I did the Spideys. If not more so. Once you have it all, all you can do is look at it. A big part of the thrill is the hunt. Nothing wrong with finding a new hunt.

I like the look of them too - I like the look of all foreign reprints to be honest. Many have a crude charm about them. The Yaffa's are quite like the Alan Class UK reprints. Black and white and clumsy. If you have some to show you could post them here: I'll give them a like if you do

Sorry. As you can see, I used to be quite preoccupied with inserts... I managed to get them to call 'UK Price Variants' (And Canadian / Australians) just that so there's hope I'll have a look... Nice talking to a fellow lunatic variant enthusiast
