  1. Where's the floppy robot gone? Did the dog eat him?
  2. He won't be laughing when he see's his dentist bill.
  3. Bad as that Byrne is, there is even badder Byrne to come, 6 issues later:
  4. In looking at this, I'll bet we won't find the October 1999 Fantastic Four, Hulk, or Thor, and will find nothing for February 2000. Eventually the middle ones will show up. Its just weird. Yep, that's my theory a few posts back: I outlined in the full post how many 2.29/2.49's I think there will be, based on that assertion. It doesn't have to necessarily be weird. It looks to me like a fairly loose attempt to monitor increased prices. As I've said before, why do it just as you're planning double sized issues? It seems lazily conceived. And why test $2.29 and $2.49 and then settle on $2.25? Maybe there was no plan. Maybe it was just a sloppy exercise. I've written to Marvel (again) to see if I can get someone's interest. I agree that the regular Thor #19 newsstand has to exist in theory. There would be no logical explanation for it being missed by design. So it will likely turn up one day, a bit like some of the pence copies that I hunt for which show once every ten years, just as you're about to write them off. Maybe there's a story though - maybe there was a fire. Maybe the lorry crashed after leaving the printers. Maybe they forgot to solicit it. Stranger things have happened. More likely, it is just one stubborn bloody book.
  5. Good idea. I used to do three board / double Mylite2 for mine - they made the book into a sturdy slab - pictures in this thread here:
  6. Konga dropped in this morning. His fourteenth incarnation to be precise (he must be a Time-Gorilla) To be fair, he wasn't looking his best, but he's the only one I've seen since I started the Charlton Choice Chase so needs must: I overpaid, as if often the case. Or did I....? Yes, I did. But look, I've got him now, and he's joined his Konga brothers in the Konga Box. So there's no point banging on about it all the time. They're all probably doing it right now actually. The Konga that is. 'Everybody Kon-ga, everybody Kon-ga'. Or was that salsa? The Brothers need his support as it goes, as Reptilicus recently launched a take over bid with a rear guard action, abetted and assisted by Reptisaurus, who he would of course one day become when the full impact of that infamous curry night with Gorgo and The Registered Nurse became apparent to his anus. And she wouldn't even give him any cream for it. Harsh woman (fear her) But look, I'm talking nonsense again, and the balds have made their feelings quite clear on that position through their 'indifference total' as Poirot would say if he hadn't been recently character assassinated by Johnny M. Still no winners of the Bonomo Turkish Taffy Give-Away have come forward I see. I'm starting to think it was all a charade, and there was no intention at all to give away any Turkish (Taffy) Delights. This scandal will break one day, and no amount of post dated Taffy Tat will soothe the angry masses. Remember, you read it here first. No ones reading are they. Bugger.
  7. I just wanted to post a big thank you to @GARYSTAR this morning In support of the research I'm doing I asked Gary if he would send me scans of the indicia of the Patsy Walker #89 that he posted some time back in the thread. He went one better and sent me the actual comic! What a great gesture, and proof that there are still decent people in the world Gary - you rock!

  9. That last post about 6p's and 8p's was rubbish wasn't it Krang Boring I thought Titano Ignore it shall we? Defo Adamantium liked it I see What does he know! Yeah. Fancy liking something that rubbish. No accounting for taste is there Yeah. Pence variants? Absolute toss mate. Get Marwood? Get F***** more like I make you right Krang, I make you right
  10. She certainly made my herring bone. Fwooar...
  11. I wonder why though? Why analyse it that closely? Very odd.
  12. It was a bear necessity Brock, a simple bear necessity
  13. Brilliant! There's nothing like the rush you get when 'that book' lands in your hands. If I ever find a Wyatt Earp #29 pence copy I swear I will shed my load. And there'll be pictures, so you'll know it happened
  14. Trying to resist the urge to post a pence copy I think we know what ones you mean.....
  15. Yes. Yes, me too. It's been said a million times, but let's say it again. Old comics. The look, the smell, the touch. The feelings of nostalgia for a long lost innocent age. Priceless
  16. It's why I started it. I love them comics. They will always raise my spirits. Like NoMan is saying, comics are a gift.
  17. I may as well post this here too - the suggestion was put to me recently that three of the nine known November 1971 double sized pence issues were priced at 6p in error, given that the other issues for that month were priced at 8p. That made sense, as the 8p price better reflects their worth as double sized issues when compared to the ongoing regular sized issues from December priced at 6p (and note that the US versions were 25c for November and 20c for December for all nine comparable issues): The 6p November 1971 Double Sized Issues: The 8p November 1971 Double Sized Issues: Anyone who has purchased an ASM #102 or a Hulk #145 in the UK will probably have experienced the dreaded sticker residue. I had an 8p ASM #102 that had it and noticed a lot of Hulk #145's had it (the example above does, as does the Avengers). A quick check on eBay shows this: So it looks like the 8p price was actually considered the 'mistake' rather than the more logical 6p, given the number of official looking, consistent corrective 6p stickers out there. An interesting scrap of pence info, which has been sitting under my nose for years, and which may never be explained.
  18. It can be seen in the actual comic SV, yes: I like this kind of thing. The old school way of making comics, warts and all. Whilst technically superior, the new stuff is too clinical, clean and charmless. Give me the old comics any day. And they smell better too
  19. Cheers Bob. Ben did all the whizzy stuff - I just provided the raw data, dates etc. He's a cool bloke to work with and very receptive to different views and thoughts. We've had some great debates on a variety of variant related stuff. It's just nice to find people who share your interests and who are prepared to engage civilly really. I'm not sure if we'll add the other publishers. I don't think there is enough interest out there. Marvel and DC will always garner a following, but the others I'm not so sure. Thanks for the kind words
