Get in there! -

So what would we call it if so? A misprint? It's in there in error, not by design. I'll have to start checking pence copies now
-
I would definitely pay a bit of a premium. Yep. Mad isn't it. If it were an ASM, and it was ten years ago, and authentic, I'd have bid like a lunatic.
-
Just to be clear from my perspective that didn't even cross my mind. I was thinking more that a previous owner had 'made it' and sent it out into the world for a laugh. But the more it goes on, the more it looks like it could be a genuine anomaly.

Long blue dress turns into short red dress. I remember that. Forgivable, as she looks hot. And who can forget that Parker 'nuts' face -
Depends how many Daredevil completists get to hear about it. If there are any that is

More pictures would be great. Tell tale signs are enlarged staple holes and inserts that don't exactly fit the cut of the book. Overhang / underhang (is that a word?) That kind of thing.

It's funny that you posted this particular picture @Spider-Variant. As a kid I read these copies scores of times and know so many pictures 'off by heart'. I can remember thinking how silly it looked that Peter was effectively levitating. I loved the Andru run. I can read it over and over and enjoy it every time. Warts and all! -

Definitely. You can clearly see the break in the sketch panel. Rather than draw it all twice, he added the spoof Peter to the original prelim. The detail around Gwen gives it away - there's no way he'd recreate it so precisely for a send up. -
Double weird.

Me neither. Whilst anything is possible, and mistakes can happen at the printers, theres no evidence that MJ inserts went into Canadian copies by design as you say. More likely this is an attempt at manipulation. And as for the issue being a non key, wouldn't that be what you would do? Add 'authenticity' by adding one to a nondescript book? That would be clever. I saw an ASM 121 with a MJI once and it was obviously a construct. And you could see why a person would do it, being a key. That has always been a problem with the MJIs - the fact that it is possible to 'create' one. I still love them though, and it would be cool if this could be proven to be authentic somehow.

...Oh, and we need to move back to 3,017 confirmed copies I'm afraid as a friend has spotted an error on my spreadsheet. Drat! -

Hey, that's really kind of you to say mec3437. It's great to get feedback and to know that a few people are enjoying the research. I used to collect all things Spidey and have had, funnily enough, Whitmans (although you're technically not allowed to call them that), Canadians, US newsstands and directs in my time. And Australian copies and, of course, pence copies. The versions that move outside of US pricing are understandably going to attract less interest as the majority of collectors are US based and even those in the UK tend to favour the 'purity' of cents copies. But I have always liked a variant and so have spent years documenting them. I don't maintain to be an expert on pence books, but I do hope I have the most definitive lists of what exists for the seven publishers that produced them. And I do enjoy speculating on the reasons why some books may or may not exist. I'm glad you dropped by - encouraging posts like yours keep me going. It can be a lonely pursuit, so its' nice to know others find it interesting. Cheers! Steve -

To be fair, I noticed six of them. Welllll, three. Welllll, someone told me about one. But it was apparently quite good. That's the last time I do a fart post in one of your threads AJD! Actually, was that the 'quite good' one? -

What is he doing at the window?
