  1. Not these copies Craig, no. I did buy them as a kid in a comic shop but those specific copies are long gone. These are mostly ex-CGC copies which I broke out and kept for the memory. I've owned so many copies down the years I've lost track. I think I had about 13 different 179's at one point (see earlier pictures). Apart from being my favourite story arc from a nostalgia point of view, 176-180 were a rich source of variants, inserts and misprints. So I just love them all the more.
  2. I love 30th Century to bits but they do have a tendency to confuse matters for the pence collector. A copy in their inventory marked as 'p' can mean both pence printed and pence stamped so you have to email them or visit to be sure. I was there recently and did a full Dell box dive (sounds like a dance craze) so I don't think I've missed any. On a related point, they often refer to unstamped dual priced books as 'pence copies' - here's an example: Of course, all the direct editions for this period are dual priced so to call it a pence copy is misleading and may well cost them sales. I really like the guys there, and they are steeped in comic knowledge and history, so I just can't bring myself to 'correct' them. Duncan McApline's site is the same - it doesn't distinguish clearly between pence printed and distributed / non-distributed copies giving the impression that stamped distributed cents copies are UK variants. They're not - they're just cents books with stamps on them. If I ever get around to building my own website / blog I will make it very clear what we're dealing with!
  3. noncents! my price is what given the truley uncommkon type? oh, i had hoping tooth hurty? so are valuable is you advice? yes i think yes but would eating reduce my value? Thank you very much for your kind words and consideration. I do believe this thread has significant intrinsic value and I appreciate your lamentations accordingly. Perhaps, in time, this thread will come to be seen as being considerably superior to the common considered average, if not, indeed, a bench mark for the newcomers questioning area.
  4. Hi Dena, sorry to chase, but is this something you'll be able to help us with? It has the backing of over 90% of 73 voters now. If not I'll forward it by other means. Thanks @dena
  5. Good spot Gnash - I had this saved in the files too: The ebay listing from which it comes says "UK Price ticket has been stapled to the cover" You can see the 6d is an addition, and not part of the printed cover. L Miller would do this - place a 6d stamp on a 9d priced comic. Quite a cool way to change the price isn't it - hand written changes or stamps are the normal (lazy?) method!
  6. Great stuff, thanks David That makes 6 confirmed copies now
  7. It's taken me all this time to realise that you're probably talking about Vera Duckworth. 'Pet' sounds more Geordie than Mancunian. ....Stanhope actually....
  8. 'This is our art' was a great album. Saw them at the Town and Country Club in Kentish Town in 1987. The support was a band I'd never heard of called Cardiacs. Life changing evening
  9. You can still ring them Bob. Trouble is, it's a newton ring.
  10. Hey, that's a truley serious thread! And everything.
  11. @Foley Ryan, you're online. Do you know what's going on?
  12. Well, the truth is stranger than fiction. Unless it's the Clangers that is.
  13. OJ, thanks.one more question may I give.would I gain more by braking out in plastiuc?
  14. And 'Coxstrong'. Really? How am I supposed to leave that alone.
  15. If I'm honest, I still don't know what's going on.
  16. It's Thursday? Is this where the bags come in?
  17. Never drop a Clanger. You'll have the Soup Dragon after you.
  18. Is Vera a real northerner Ken? She says 'pet' quite a lot
  19. Oh, right... So nothing to do with the Clangers then?
