  1. Still a good step forward albeit long overdue. I may have to dig out the big pence guns now...
  2. Afternoon. We haven't had the best of times lately so Marwood and I decided to take a break down in Whitstable to get away from the slings and arrows. We like coastal towns in Englandville, especially out of season and, besides, it has a comic shop to investigate. And this pub: The PC has the most splendid interior: Isn't it marvellous!? We do like the huge art deco lights, and the big imposing portrait of Mr Cushing. Thought we missed it in this shot, until we checked the mirror's reflection: We were hoping our old friend @Cushing Fan could tell us the name of the actor here. We know who he is of course, but do you think his name would come to us? Answers on a post card please. Here's Mr C in Sherlock mode: Seems he was a rather good painter too. Talented fellow, all round. The pub used to be a cinema, and it's nice to see that it played to packed audiences to the end.... ....blame it on Caine's acting more like (don't be alarmed reader. Carter Caine is Marwood's top tough guy. Well, only comparatively ) Some relics of the olden days! A projector: And a 'thingy' We love thingy's Across the road, we find another of Mr Cushing's old haunts, the 'Tudor Tea Rooms' where a 'Full Englandville' beckons: That is until Marwood catches sight of two of the local talents and goes into 'hello ladies' mode: Personally, I think the phrase 'any port in a storm' has it's limitations. That is until we see this foxy chick in a window down the road: Rooowwwwr! Lady in red! We happen across @Robot Man's family, seemingly lost: Help me Obi-Wan! You're my only hope! And Lord only who knows what this chap is up to. He looks like someone Jim would know: @porcupine48 And here's one for @lizards2 lizard brain. He likes Barry And Barry, in this instance is a cactus. Which has spikes. Which can be found on Porcupines. The links are endless! Something tells me Jim would spend a penny in here. Once he'd converted the currency, obviously. Still no luck hunting down the Medusa Touch soundtrack though.... Continuing the moosic theme, Marwood was taken by this Beetles with an A poster in the local on the sea front. Very nice it was, until someones rotten reflection ruined it: Talking of rotten..... £65 my hairy hair brush! I spot this painting of the old war forts in an art gallery window and Marwood tells me they look like AT-AT walkers: Bizarrely enough, so do others, as we discover the next day in another shop (note Cushing trying to get in on the act again in the background): Nearly at the comic shop! There appears to be a thriving local comic community, according to this poster: Hulk no like poster. Poster make Hulk look fat. Hulk not fat. May smash! Who let him in? Always trying to get in on the act that one. We may have to unleash 'Crabzilla' onto him: Or this chap: Comic shop looks promising. Any shop with a full size Dalek in it has to be fully recommended: Sterminate! Nearly bought this, but Batcowl looked like he was saying "Leave, the kit, alone": Look at that lot! Had a good chat with the owner. He had an X-Men #1 CGC 3.0 SS with a decent Stan signature, nicely placed. At £2,500 though, I decided to pass. After some rooting around, looking for pence copies, all I found was this: I remember selling a copy of this for a silly £100 or so back in the sell off days. Marwood convinced me to have another go. At £3, I may be able to fund some other purchases with it although I don't think I'll ever get near £100 again. One last window shop before we go, and it occurs to me that this card works on several levels: A nice ash tray for Doc Ock: Cool robot lamps... A rather suggestive banana lamp, with a suitably alarmed dog trying not to notice: And more of the same: All too rich for my tastes though. I settle for this mad chap, for £3 from a charity shop: So, what does any of that have to do with pence copies I hear you cry? Nothing. Still on 3,007. Sorry about that.
  3. Comicdonna seems to have the same problem: I'm in the UK, and they're working fine here. But I've found the boards to be very slow lately.
  4. Ryan Foley is the absolute last person on these boards that you should accuse of being a troll Jay. I think you should apologise.
  5. You've got talent RR. And the coolest avatar on the boards too. Stop throwing them away...
  6. These are great! He's my favourite above. Reminds me of one of J.F. Sebastian's toys in Blade Runner Did you make these up? They look like the cast of a bizarre fantasy film
  7. I wasn't demanding proof from Jay? I was just trying to contribute to the debate.
  8. That was my point - they didn't order the requisite 100 copies. But still got it. This is a cranky old thread isn't it! Sorry I dropped by really.
  9. That'll teach me to leave the curtains open
  10. Heh heh. I had some much ruder ones planned, but given my track record with the mods.....
  11. My shop got it in the normal course of business - they ordered a certain quantity of the latest books and got the associated variants when they ordered, presumably, the right quantity / met the necessary criteria. I'm not trying to be funny or anything - I just find it odd that my tiny shop in England got a copy in the normal course of monthly ordering, despite ordering less than 100 ASM 667 regulars, and despite there only being - if this thread is correct - less than 250 viable copies worldwide.
  12. Not having enough graders to meet the demand could be another cause
  13. Heh heh, Batman make funny joke. Hulk like funny joke. But if Hulk has cause to think Batman is being serious - the same Batman who beat up on Supes in BvS, then Hulk will smash!
  14. One thing I don't get is if the 667 was such a low print book, and a 1:100, how did I manage to get my copy from an obscure comic shop in England which never ordered more than 50 copies of ASM?
  15. Sounds like a good idea to me. The first 20 attendee's could be the CGC grading team
  16. Make sure you notify The Big Comic Oversight Central Knowledge Service if you do, so we can keep our records up straight.
