  1. Yes, that's not too hot that one is it. The arrow A is probably the best stylistically, and it's implication of moving forward goes well with the Avengers Assemble line I think. It's funny how important these things can be, especially when you're young. I can still remember the feeling of horror as a kid when they changed the Spider-Man Comics Weekly logo. It meant I couldn't lay them all out with the uniformity of a common banner anymore. Silly really I suppose. Alas, they changed the title of that comic about a hundred times, so you had to give up in the end. More recently I really liked this, for example, and even as an adult I was annoyed when they dropped the split Peter/Spidey head: They looked so cool when you lined them all up overlapping.
  2. If I'm honest, I like both of them two @Dave2739. @Paul_Maul posted the third version earlier on, and that's a more obvious downward turn in quality, wouldn't you say?:
  3. Hello Pence People. Board member Mikeyc67 advises me that he has a Rawhide Kid #25 pence copy. Excellent! I've asked for a pic for final confirmation and this will push our total up to 3,005 confirmed pence price variants He also advised he has two L Miller RHK copies - details here: One extract from that post which is relevant here: As an aside, if we assume the Sep 60 to Aug 61 block all turn out to be L Miller cents copies, that's 16 'pence printed variants' that we can definitely confirm do not exist. Here's the updated provisional missing list: I hope @mikeyc67 drops by with a scan soon
  4. Board member Mickeyc67 kindly dropped into my Font Variation Thread the other day advising that he had copies of Rawhide Kid 20 and 23 and that both were cents printed L Miller copies with pence stamps. He provided cover scans and I've asked if he could post pictures of the indicia pages too. Here are the two cover scans he posted: Cool aren't they! I trust Mikey completely, but will stick to the stance that has served me well throughout my pence research, which is to hold fire on confirmation until I personally have the evidence. That said, if I do update our Miller chart it means I have to push the L Miller date range down one month to include August 1961, the cover date of the RHK #23 (I've marked Mikey's RHK 20 and 23 down with 3 asterisks until they are confirmed: So subject to the final confirmation, we potentially have 22 L Miller comics to look out for. This assumes that: Kid Colt Outlaw was indeed fully taken up by Thorpe & Porter as previous evidence suggests (I've hidden the title in the latest chart above) Wyatt Earp #29 is an L Miller title (it could be, as L Miller did the reprints - I just need to find a pence copy to look inside) TGK #55 is indeed an L Miller (my copy has a blank indicia) - with 54 confirmed, and a scan held of 55 with an LM 6d cover stamp, it's a virtual certainty The other missing issues on the chart exist (no reason to suggest they don't, although TGK's stubbornly blank 56-59 block does make me wonder ) So, 22 potential issues from May 1960 to August 1961 to collect. I currently own 9 of them and hope to one day own them all. Something tells me it's going to take a while though....... P.S. As an aside, if we assume the Sep 60 to Aug 61 block all turn out to be L Miller cents copies, that's 16 'pence printed variants' that we can definitely confirm do not exist. See ya next time pardner
  5. Actually, the title logo is probably one of the most recognisable logos there is, even making the 1978 films. You'd likely recognise it whatever word was used. 423 issues it lasted like this... ...until the now customary arrived with issue 424: I'm still waiting for: A title logo that lasted longer than Action Comics (583 issues) A change in a title logo that was conclusively for the better. So far almost all have been rotten Lively!
  6. They are good logos aren't they. And 'Action' lasted 583 issues so that says something. Off topic a bit, but do tell us more about those books please @Moondog - I don't know much about them and they look fantastic.
  7. What a great load of pictures! Thanks for sharing them Buzz. My favourite is the girl with no costume shirt. My kind of girl. Looks like you had a fun time
  8. Absolutely brilliant. I'm always in awe of people like you who come up with an original idea like this. So simple, but so clever. I particularly like Doc Ock here. He looks like someone out of a seventies psychedelic band. Spidey looks a little too pleased with himself too.
  9. Keep going boys. Posting on these boards often feels like scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup and then turning to see that the rest of the team are in the dressing room and the fans are all down the pub (talking about famous people dying and terrorism usually). If you enjoy what you do, that's as much as you can hope for. We spend most of our lives talking to ourselves anyway so keep doing your thing here
  10. I misread that first time and thought you said they had 26 inserts! That would've been a thing
  11. I've never heard that expression before, so looked it up - Google says: (plural golf claps) A sarcastic or humorous form of applause performed by lightly and rapidly clapping the fingers of one hand against the palm of the other, used to show indifference or disdain. So does that mean you think my two RHK's suck @Lucky Baru?
  12. Only 288 of them though according to the GCD, so Action Comics are still winning on 583
  13. That's the actual cover, no bag. Which begs the question, does the original art for this book actually exist? That's fairly abstract, isn't it?
  14. Hulk like etching in wall. Hulk no smash this time round.
