  1. Sounds riveting! The circles have buggered up your Avatar a bit Gary - and I see you are a 'Contributor' now: Fancy!
  2. Sorry Aszumilo - I tagged everyone who played in the last round knowing some would already have submitted. I was just trying to help CGC Mike after his request earlier - it took me bloody ages just to do that so you can imagine the work Mike has. I bet he misses lumberjacking at times like these....
  3. After last night's performance, I'd say West Ham vs Man City would be more appropriate....
  4. I've owned two copies of this one which reprints the Horror Monsters Black Zoo special - one went to the much missed Maurice (@tv horror), if I remember correctly, and this other tatty copy is sitting in a box somewhere: The original US book itself has lots of UK variations - a 2/6, a Roberts & Vinter shield, and a T&P distribution stamp too: I did quite a bit of investigation into these in my Charlton thread some years back. I can't remember too much about them now
  5. Morning all It probably takes Mike ages to populate the spreadsheet, with his big old lumberjack fingers. It would be cool if we gave him as much time as possible to do it by getting our grades in quickly - the later we leave it, the more last minute work for him, and the longer it takes us to get the results! 6. Cheers Gan. All on @androolx's earlier list though - got any Marvels that aren't, other than the two I added?
  7. That would be about right, yes. After all, I've done nothing for the hobby, have I. Nothing. Good job Marwood has though

Count the ACTUAL full colour pages? What other types of full colour pages are there Andy? Are some pretending?
  9. I don't know why, but I can't stop laughing at that comment. Boo! The height of dissatisfaction
  10. There are 3 that require the McFarlane labels. There were originally 11 books sent in for ME because they holders were loose and moving around on inside of the slab. These 11 books still need to be fixed. The labels on the remaining 8 books should remain unchanged and left as is. Expand We do have some McFarlane scroll labels. I am going to send you a PM to get some more info from you. I may need to get permission from management for approval to send these in. If approval is granted, I might need to send you a shipping label, as the submission form may no longer grant one for you. Well done Mike. Much of the criticism levelled at CGC is justified, but it's great that they have someone like you going the extra mile to help people here and - no doubt - to work with others behind the scenes to improve the model where possible.
  11. Just adding in the Spideys for now, we have one or both of the presumed Gold Star 10d / One Shilling stamps for 9 consecutive issues now (bar #46): I wonder if we did a full deep dive - by which I mean a thorough check of all the issues surrounding the UKPV absentees that triggered the review, for all titles, but over many years - we would find a more consistent pattern that, perhaps, would indicate a one year distribution arrangement? Or they could have all rocked up together, of course with a concentration around the hiatus issues. In my experience, the only way to do it is to look for years, not months, diligently. Once you start a consistent pattern of looking, they slowly start to materialise. There were only a handful of Charlton RV stamps when I started looking properly but, over a few years, that figure has expanded to the point where I'm confident now that I could prove a full distribution arrangement, with dates. Time permitting, I'll see if I can overlay the 10d oblongs for all the other publishers I've gathered to date, to see what, if anything, jumps out.
  12. Could be. We'll have to keep 'em Shaw Taylor-like for a decently stamped copy.
  13. ...actually, scrub that - I've got brain fog and have mixed this up. I've got quite a few shilling 42s in the file. Getting my 10ds and shillings in a muddle
  14. Thanks - I see I liked the post at the time, so not sure why it escaped me / the files.
  15. Indeed. Given the grading notes, and most members contrary opinions, do you think they could have got those two grades mixed up? What am I saying. CGC wouldn't do that, would they...
  16. I'm blown away by this cover. Maybe that's how Eli Wallach's 50% absence was finally discovered..... And as for Foreman, well, I'm saying nothing about him or his family. No, nothing about Fore's kin will be said.
  17. Cheers Sean I did manage to obtain a 15c copy of Audrey #102 in the end in fairly reasonable shape. These books are very hard to come by though, I'm discovering, even over here in the UK where my research indicates they were distributed. You have to take them in whatever grade they come. I quite like that cover Indeed. I don't think I'll be making any significant contribution to the retirement fund with these! They're fun to chase down though and for me, fun is what it's all about. I mean, when you find a one and six L Miller stamp on a Harvey - the only one I've ever seen in 5 years - the world nearly ends: Well, it does for me anyway. ROAR!
  18. I did a bit of mucking around with the image Albert - can you see it now? Here are two other 'blink and you'll miss them' stamped #40s which I've just found - the ink seems to have been running low at this point: The one on the left is from a listing stating "light one shilling stamp to cover". The one on the right I'm not sure what's going on.
  19. Get yourself down to Specsavers Albert, if you can't see the 1 in the centre there.
