  1. I know a sheep with 100 copies of still bagged X-Force #1. "When are you going to sell those?" I ask. Drum roll please: his answer.... "WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT!"
  2. It just takes two in an auction Or one response to make an offer No down side if you don’t over pay
  3. Ha ha. Heep !!! Undone by spell check again.
  4. Yes ! A very good deal. Listen comps are useful information. But comps rarely tell us everything. Two nut jobs in an auction. One always wanted a particular page from Book A. The other bidder not passionate about page but gets caught up in bid Fever. Drive a page way up. Now another page comes up from book A. You have the comps from that last sale but it’s going to take so much more to dissect the true value of book A pages with varying factors. A collector pal o mine told me about a DPS that came up on eBay early 2000s. He gave up on it in the mid 5000s and it sold around 6 K. He knew it was one of the finest examples he’d seen by that artist on that character but he stopped. Not because he didn’t have the money. No—-comps. He couldn’t value it at the price it sold for. I tried to explain that certain pieces of art you just have to go for it. In the last year he agonized as the DPS came up for the first time since that eBay auction. Now it sold for $25,000. My pal is angry at the “absurd” price and obviously Is kicking himself for not getting the page back when. The buyer at auction immediately made his $25,000 win available at $35000. Wolf or sheep?
  5. Wolves or sheep? Wolves or heep? Dang it Daddy I’m a wolf! A wolf! No red line comp I won’t step over. I’m in it to win it. Bid Bid Bid !!!!!!
  6. That’s amazing/ I love this board and how we try to solve mysteries and help one another. Two thumbs up 👍 👍
  7. Great job Jay. I would pay $1500 for that. I bet there is a collector out there that is looking for pages from the book. Probably ask $3500 cash and Or more with good trade. I would list it in my CAF Taking Offers First Suicide Squad.
  8. Yes please continue to let pages go bye bye because of comps. •••I pay a little more say the flippers •••and you pay a lot more later when you kick yourself for relying 100% on comps= FMV. If I had a Romita ASM page for every time someone comes on the boards and says, back in 1985, 1995, 2000, 2005,2009,2014, 2018•••I could’ve got that page for a song my name would be Mike Burkey. I could’ve got that for $1000 back then and now look at it. NO you wouldn’t have!!!! You would have looked at the comps and talked yourself out of it. FMV involves so much more than just comps.
  9. HA can save face. For the November signature auction; Lower buyer commission take. Lower seller commission take. Offer 5 free seller listings to all of us HA members: Love you HA—-you’ll get through this.
  10. Do you see the page with all four members and a pilot fighting to control the plane? thats the page we are talking about if you can scan the comic page that would help us all see what Justin Case is potentially buying!’n 🤩
  11. Very well done. I’ll pass this around to see if anyone knows. What year did you get it?
  12. Good advice. I wish he could see the art. I think he found a great page but....
  13. Very thoughtful approach as you enjoy the art until it’s time to sell. Prices very high today—hard to keep up on adding more pieces. You are content with what you have. Grateful. That’s a very mature way to experience this hobby. I still go to 1 or 2 conventions a year. Meeting artists I’ve never met is wonderful. Catching up with artists I’ve met before also great. its also a chance to get a sketch or get a commission going. I think that’s a great place to add reasonably priced art to your portfolio when buying the expensive pages is no longer an option. Nice post.
  14. I would make him an offer $1500- 2 K. pages from books that introduce new teams, characters etc. usually have value to collectors. You might have found a needle in a hay stack. This comic is 1959 and so to the art. Andru and Esposito had a long history working together.I can't find anything, not one other page from this book with data. Low grade comic of this comic selling for just under $2000. I know comics and art are different animals but there is a collectors market for that comic--I think it's worth a chance to grab it and then test the market see if you have a steal. I bet just hearing FIRST SUICIDE SQUAD would draw interest. Just my opinion, trying to make a rational argument in a sometimes irrational hobby. The page you described, I feel very strongly if in the hands of some of these comic dealers they would put a good sized sticker price on it. Good luck.
  15. It's an impressive splash. I don't know about asking 5 K but $1980 seems like an undersell. the buyer got a bargain. You know Mike is going to get that 5 K one way or another as this is an excellent trade piece.
  16. Haha my father in law didn’t get original comic art at all. How do you know it’s not fake? How do you know it’s worth anything? And “ just because that insufficiently_thoughtful_person paid that much doesn’t mean it’s worth that much! Good grief !!!!!
  17. I’ve tried to find sales info but none. It’s the first suicide squad. Depends on the page. Andrus Spider-Man run commands approximately 3 k up but that’s not a reliable comp for what you are looking at here. Do you have an image of the page? I hope you can get the page. 🍇 🦍
  18. That’s impressive insight on your part at 17 to get started. Well done !!!
  19. I’m 100 % happy with what I have. 100% sad about what I don’t. 50% missing pieces of art I sold or traded the last 23 years. My wife is in charge of buying the lottery tickets. Should we win the FF annual 2 will stay in tact. I won’t be greedy. I’ll leave the rest of the November HA auction selections for you all. 🍇 🦍
