  1. + 1 that was the first thing I thought of. A great cover artist on the book and the interiors done by a presumably lesser talent.
  2. At first I was going to take the 50 K because that’s the price I was quoted on a piece I’ve always wanted from a dealer. But now I need the 100 K (for art I can never sell) because I sent a confirmation email to the dealer and after checking with his brother, the price went up from 50 K to 100 K. Something about labor costs for new cover stat added. 🍇 🦍
  3. Hey I can forgive people for not thinking Johns art would be valuable. It’s tougher to understand those that minimize his artistic ability. Coming after the legend Steve Ditko ASM 39 starts a refreshing new artistic interpretation of Spider-Man and Peter Parker. There’s a pure joy in the way he delivers these pages we love today. My love for Romita caused me to do something out of character. I remember emailing you early to mid 2000s asking if you’d take $12000 for an interior page from your personal collection. You replied that $12 K would likely snag any page. I tried for my favorite four panel page of Spidey and Kingpin....from ASM 69 and even tried for the last page with the 1/3 splash (had to try) but you called me on it ( that’s a splash) ha ha. you weren’t ready to break up 69 at the time and you offered me other great pages from different incomplete books you had. We didn’t make the deal because my heart really was set on the four panel 69 page. Why did I offer $12 K ? It wasn’t an investment: it wasn’t based on any economic reality I knew of. The only interior page I could find that had data was on Heritage that sold for 5 k. My offer was based on love. Love of Johns singular amazing style and the fact ASM 69 was the first Romita comic I read as a kid. There’s a lot of capital built into a Romita page especially for those who have met and spent any time with him. He is a kind and generous person. It’s hard to separate the man from the art. John is a hero for comic fans to admire. My first piece of art is a head sketch of Spider-Man that John created for me at SDCC 1996. I still have it and will always keep it. 🍇 🦍
  4. Except that buyer. But maybe he’ll come to see it as you do and that’s why he’ll sell it.
  5. I can’t get mad cuz you made me look.
  6. Judges have ruled. Your interlocking covers are allowed on a one time cool factor exemption!!
  7. https://www.cbr.com/swamp-thing-phantom-stranger-prototype/ As a kid this was one of my first possible Clues for a Swampy Origin. Always loved the cover.
  8. Ok Back on topic would love to hear your guess on the final hammer bid on the splash page of FF Annual 2. including BP lets hear from everybody This is going to be a massive auction.
  9. Good luck!! There’s so much to choose from. Make a lot of dough.
  10. So back then Fantastic 4 issue 5 page with no Doom but all FF was 5-7 k. Early Avengers pages 3-4 k JIM 112 4 k Romita ASM four Panel page Spidey and Vulture $900 Ditko Spider-Man 3-5 k Daredevil 1 page 6500 (Anthony) Silver Surfer 18 splash 7 k (Bechara)
  11. Lol ok $4500 in 1997= I don’t want to jinx six figures so I’ll just stay humble and modest.
  12. It was 1997 it was less than $5000 it was from one of the first 10 issues of the heroes comic it was one of the smartest things I’ve ever done.
  13. My head is spinning. Seriously it’s sensory overload. My mantra always is focus. Focus on one piece and get it. Ha ha easier said then done.
  14. This one is an artistic stunner. So freaking good. The vellum overlay is jarring in the overall composition and may not be everyone's cup of tea. In any case I just cannot deny the sheer Beauty of Sonja by Brunner. Wow. What do you all think about this one? Frank Brunner Red Sonja #12 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1978). This seems to be the very first Frank Brunner Red Sonja cover that Heritage has ever offered! And it's a very unique Red Sonja cover, as the large Sonja face was produced in ink on a vellum overlay and printed with a color hold-out technique in magenta ink. The main cover image was rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". Signed by Brunner on the overlay. The corner box, logo, and other header dressing are all stat paste-ups. Toned and in Very Good condition.
  15. Rorschach example of the highest quality. Reading this as a teen in the 80's I had no concept of original art. I did know I was reading 12 chapters of something special. This would be a dream page to own for Watchmen fans.
  16. Exceptional cover art by comics master of the macabre. Who wouldn't want a werewolf cover by Wrightson??? What do you all think of this cover? Bernie Wrightson House of Mystery #231 Cover Original Art (DC, 1975). Some unlucky villagers learn "The Way of the Werewolf" on this cover by horror master Bernie Wrightson. It was for the lead story in the issue and is a fine example of Wrightson's prowess with dynamic action and fluid of movement. Rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15.75". The vintage logo and header dressing stat affixed to the top of the board is actually for issue #237 instead. There is some glue residue near the paste-up. The board is toned, with some stains in the lower image area. The background sky has been colored with watercolor and color marker (possibly by Wrightson himself). The piece is signed by Wrightson in the lower margin. In Good condition.
  17. I understand your sentiment. I always rooted for books to stay in tact. That being said, if you've waited for a Doom origin story page for 50 years here's a chance to own at least one of the pages from this story. It's not likely one collector will get all of these. The splash and page 11 together are going to bring monster bids.
  18. Yeah Mike——I have a hard time giving up pieces I buy. I remember buying a piece from Conrad many years ago. ”when you get tired of it, just call me we’ll get you something else.” I told him I’ll never sell this. He said “everybody says that but they usually get restless and sell to get something different.” I still have the piece. The two you sold coming up for auctions, I guess the buyers are ready for something new. Ha ha. it must be a kick for you to see your sold pieces as they change hands. It keeps the hobby vibrant I think.
  19. Schulz up above, McFarlane down below, if I could only choose one which direction should i go?
  20. Heck and Ayers made a hell of a pair!!!!!!
