  1. Rorschach example of the highest quality. Reading this as a teen in the 80's I had no concept of original art. I did know I was reading 12 chapters of something special. This would be a dream page to own for Watchmen fans.
  2. Exceptional cover art by comics master of the macabre. Who wouldn't want a werewolf cover by Wrightson??? What do you all think of this cover? Bernie Wrightson House of Mystery #231 Cover Original Art (DC, 1975). Some unlucky villagers learn "The Way of the Werewolf" on this cover by horror master Bernie Wrightson. It was for the lead story in the issue and is a fine example of Wrightson's prowess with dynamic action and fluid of movement. Rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15.75". The vintage logo and header dressing stat affixed to the top of the board is actually for issue #237 instead. There is some glue residue near the paste-up. The board is toned, with some stains in the lower image area. The background sky has been colored with watercolor and color marker (possibly by Wrightson himself). The piece is signed by Wrightson in the lower margin. In Good condition.
  3. I understand your sentiment. I always rooted for books to stay in tact. That being said, if you've waited for a Doom origin story page for 50 years here's a chance to own at least one of the pages from this story. It's not likely one collector will get all of these. The splash and page 11 together are going to bring monster bids.
  4. Yeah Mike——I have a hard time giving up pieces I buy. I remember buying a piece from Conrad many years ago. ”when you get tired of it, just call me we’ll get you something else.” I told him I’ll never sell this. He said “everybody says that but they usually get restless and sell to get something different.” I still have the piece. The two you sold coming up for auctions, I guess the buyers are ready for something new. Ha ha. it must be a kick for you to see your sold pieces as they change hands. It keeps the hobby vibrant I think.
  5. Schulz up above, McFarlane down below, if I could only choose one which direction should i go?
  6. Heck and Ayers made a hell of a pair!!!!!!
  7. Thinking outside the box. Love the video. The art is lovely.
  8. Five minutes alone in a locked room no cameras. Just five.
  9. I have a Kirby Captain America cover with $100 written on the back. Jack did that intending to sell but instead gifting it. Your instincts to leave it be are correct. It’s a record. Artists write on the back and as you say so did dealers.
  10. Lopresti nailed his DPS wow holy cow!! Greg Land draws larger then life on his DPS !! Gee thanks for sharing those examples. 🍇 🦍
  11. I’ll add it to all my other formulas. This OA collecting is more involved then outsiders could ever understand. 🍇 🦍
  12. The PWJ 7 DPS got my blood racing. Love your DPS collection. The Jim Lee Wolverine ripping across two pages from one of my favorite comic stories was my favorite though. S N I K T
  13. Wow that’s a great one. I loved Billy’s Shi art. I bought all those original issues based on the art with zero knowledge of the storyline. Appreciate you showing the first piece you bought. The Deodato must be special to you not just for the art but story of obtaining it. Cheers
  14. I can't remember a better auction. This one is an absolute stunner. Kirby the all time genius of comic art. Fear DR. DOOM. Jack Kirby and Chic Stone Fantastic Four Annual #2 Splash Page 1 Doctor Doom Original Art (Marvel, 1964). You just don't get may incredible full page vintage early 1960s splash panels of major characters such as this! It was a powerful and moody opening to the tale "The Fantastic Origin of Doctor Doom!" The Monarch of Latveria was a harsh and strict ruler, but this story put a new spin on the dictator and made him an all too human character with foibles and flaws no armor could cover. A special tale crafted by the Lee-Kirby team, and this magnificent page was rendered befittingly at twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12.5" x 18.75". There are some minor production oil stains in the image area and surrounding margins. In Very Good condition.
  15. Good Grief 68 the year of my birth. Lovely strip.
  16. Jack Kirby and Chic Stone Fantastic Four Annual #2 Story Page 10 Doctor Doom Original Art (Marvel, 1964). A key moment from "The Fantastic Origin of Doctor Doom", as it recaps the explosion that drove a wedge between Victor Von Doom and Reed Richards. It was the same explosion which scarred his face. It's pure magic from the Lee-Kirby era! Rendered at twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12.5" x 18.5". Toned, with production oil stains in lower panels. In Very Good condition.
  17. Avengers 158 K I R B Y A stunning achievement by the King of Comics
  18. Agreed. Many FF and X-Men have been speculated over FMV for a long time. Congratulations on getting the WBN 32 9.4 as I believe despite the naysayers there is still room for growth. Getting $3555 for the 9.2 had to feel great. I won't bore you but I switched over from comic collecting to original comic art collecting in 1996. I've sold off 98% of my silver age books. I had lost touch with most valuations on books 1970 and up because I'm not a collector in the CGC age. MY WBN 32 honestly is a comic book I bought as a six year old for a quarter. I was hoping to get $130-$150 to cover the grading and commission and pocket some dough. I checked with two weeks to go and it was at $455. I was blown away to get $1289. I called my brother and told him to look through his books and yep! He has WBN 32 and 33. He's going to submit them to C-Link.
