  1. In Bills defense (he needs no defense I love Bill) 😆 he misses a lot of questions on the ComicArtLive. There’s a lot going on...... But yes conspiracy theories on the threads are delicious fodder for us. I’ve always believed that that public announcement on TMZ of all places was a fishing exposition trial 🎈 to get a sense of what the cover might fetch. I think it gets buried for awhile and eventually will trade hands. Meanwhile I am contacting TMZ to let them know I’m ready to auction off my Sal Buscema collection. Cha-Ching 💰💰💰
  2. Good observation Will_K That’s a big miss on Bill’s part😢 ⬇️ ⬇️ {So later on, Bill did not ask Vincent about ASM 129 and it wasn't even mentioned} Surprised viewers didn’t bring it up on the live chat feed.
  3. It’s a great question I’m not the only one going to be monitoring McFarlane sales much closer going forward. Scott. Based on art alone you know myself and others think you knocked it out of the park on your TM McSpidey inking chores. 1990 Las Vegas Sahara Hotel Comic Con Todd is there with art work. In the hundreds of dollars range. Nobody wants it. We’re all getting our Spider-Man 1 comics signed😂 Hell my buddy, let’s call him Romeo, was trying to run game on the gorgeous girl behind the booth with Todd—not registering that it’s Todd’s wife. We went home without Spider-Man art and most certainly without the girl. If ifs and buts were Candy and nuts, every day would be Christmas. The story of my life. Woulda coulda shoulda when it comes to art work. For my own sanity, I may yet leave it all behind and take a vow of silence in the Kingdom of Latveria, where I hear silence is not only appreciated it’s the law!!!
  4. Yeah that one is cover worthy. ASM 328 getting record prices because of a collector trying to put the book together. So as a stand alone not from the ASM title I am very interested to see what this one will fetch.
  5. I love this! I always hoped to see this original art!! Congratulations I will leave a comment on CAF. 🐢 ❤️ 🍇 🦍
  6. That's some really nice artwork. I don't remove anything from art. I've dealt with missing stats or word balloons as part of the hazard of collecting work meant to be discarded or filed away after publishing use. That being said there are restoration experts that can reattach or remove balloons and glue residue. Man really nice art!
  7. I hate this thread because I love it so much. Suddenly fighting urges to devour pizza and shout cowabunga! Stupid heroes in a half-shell. Here’s something cool I bought from the boys back in the eighties. A hardcover collection of all the early stories and original art work drawn on the inside. Only 1000 made this is 221/1000
  8. I knew it! Congratulations 🎈🍾
  9. I barely survived the melee that ensued outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre when my 12 year old daughter took a “free” picture with “Captain Jack Sparrow.” Apparently you take a picture you really don’t want and then the hand goes out for a twenty spot minimum. It was a huge surprise for my kid who I had shielded from the hard streets I grew up in. So the thought of Times Square Marvel Heroes surrounding me or my loved ones seems petrifying. And if Ditko were in the mix....absurd and cool but still frightening.
  10. Hahaha....yeah but photos come with the auction 😂
  11. I have no problem with any of that. I specifically mentioned the analogy reference of shilling to the Pudding Pop guy writing unwanted prescriptions being perhaps, a tinge off color. Then extrapolated it to a wee tendency for some to post without thinking things through. Now I stand in solidarity with you in that I could care less if usernames “hide” behind their anonymity when making salty comments. Honestly with but just a little effort you can identify many of members in our community. Let no one claim that I hide behind my username. No matter how controversial I might get you can always trust I stand behind my God given name. I sign it here alongside Rick Baron. Yours, GrapeApe
  12. This is inscribed on a CGC copy of AF 15 coming up for sale on HA.
  13. Right now CGC is working on the site. Pictures are disappearing and other quirks. Hopefully we are at 100% soon
  14. Captain Calamity you are new here so I want to help you out. You probably have some good things to bring to the chat and I look forward to those future contributions. But.....Referencing Pill Cosby 💊 to flesh out your thoughts on shill bidding missed the mark. I think your need to write “admittedly extreme analogy” as a preface should have been your own clue not to go to the 💊 Cos reference. Lately I’ve been coming to the CGC punch bowl hoping for a tasty drink but can’t get past the dumps some of the commenters are dropping in it. Let’s be thoughtful before posting.
  15. A profound letter from one of my all time comic heroes. He actually does something he never does. Talks about Spider-Man and the Human Torch from my ASM 8 page, For his own reasons he removes himself from any part in creating or thinking about the page or story it came from. "Jack" and "Stan." Steve wants no part of his Spider-Man past and clearly only wants to talk about what's going on now.For context my letter asked Steve about what he wanted to show using his art in terms of teenagers. These heroes are teens saddled with the great responsibility of super powers that separate them from the human race. My page was drawn in 1963 so Vietnam was a coming issue. I always suspected he and Stan were at odds with the character but really wanted him to tell me what he was thinking. Not a chance haha!!I mentioned the recent loss of my Granddad, a WW 2 veteran who survived the Battle of Anzio in Italy. Shortly before he died Granddad said he really didn't know what he was fighting for when he joined up. It was after he was in the hell of war that he knew Hitler and the like had to be stopped. Steve writes me back and only in passing mentions my topics. It doesn't really matter. I found the letter profound and certainly a glimpse of his mindset. Below is the letter I received from Steve written on April 15, 2018. This came approximately three weeks after I had mailed him. Steve Ditko sadly passed away (6-29-2018) just ten weeks after writing this letter to me. Anyone else here on the boards contact Steve or come in contact with him? I never get tired of hearing stories about the great artist.
  16. Have you reached out to PIH ? Where I left off you piece was suspect but far from consensus fake. I remember trying to help you with this but couldn’t get anybody to go on the record or even answer me. It wasn’t PIH but those supposedly aware 😎of when drawings were done that did not return my emails. Genesis West Mike Thibodeaux Anybody else want to help me bang on these guys door steps for non evasive answers?
  17. It’s hard to believe that so few people are interested in commenting on an artistic legend. 😪 I think for me Heavy Metal or Epic magazine had a Den story I read as a kid. Never seen anything like it. An absolute pioneer. RIP
  18. Yes let grapeape and my friend Jean Michelle He's-No-Basquiat join you AnkurJ in a slow hand clap for Vodou (it's ok to use his username here as I did not name the unmentionable).
  19. No I'm glad you did. That part of this board is most vital. Sharing info.
  20. I’m a native New Yorker. I expect to have people challenge me all the time. But whoa unto thee that try to besmirch thee savage GrapeApe. He strikes back with quick wit and stinging reproaches learned in12 years of round and rounds with uncouth dullards in the public school system. Heres the deal. Come correct, or get your card pulled. I understand the sentiment that Rob and Mike B relay about not wanting to dignify certain comments therefore somehow legitimizing them. The thing is I’ve learned to turn the other cheek when I can...and when I need to fight? I make sure the other guy never wants to come back for more. Literally and figuratively. it’s up to each one of us. Most of the comments that seem to trigger anger or disdain are the ones that insinuate the following.... That board member is lying, dishonest, without coming outright and stating with facts or proof. or the comments that seem insensitive or personal that hurt feelings. I really believe the board community ( that’s us not the mods) police this thing pretty well. We all want to hear from a wide range of voices, dealers and collectors and especially artists and their reps if they are game. Yes...even Los Bros.... I consider Rob a great wealth of knowledge and insight. It pains me he rarely comes on here and I’ve asked him many times to. And who doesn’t want to hear from Mike Burkey? Always informative and entertaining. And I also like Vodou. He’s like a cactus. I probably wouldn’t hug him but that doesn’t mean I can’t get water from him. This forum has great potential. I truly believe 95% of the “bite” exhibited and expressed on the board is meant in jest. So..... Rob, Mike and others concerned about getting trolled we need to hear from you more not less. Most of us honestly ignore the awkward jabs. Hey sometimes we laugh at them. We all get equal bashing. But this forum is a community. I truly love it and I like all of you hooligans. Merry Christmas 2021 is almost here 🍇+ 🦍
  21. Blast my failing eyesight 👓 🍇🦍 long live Chatsworth sincerly, Dirk Diggler
