  1. Sure passed it off as original pencil in the description. Who the hell was the high bidder at $405? Thanks for always catching these.
  2. I reached out to introduce myself. He’s a swell guy. The most excellent collection I’ve e seen for posters I recognize so clearly. He’s a nice guy Terry thanks for the heads up my friend. His CAF is the 💣 kabooms 🍇 + 🦍
  3. Search eBay (make an offer)and dealer sites for art at the price point. No reason you should miss out on the fun. I honestly find art in that range all the time.
  4. Some funny posts here and BoB Kane inspires that reaction. Still, when I think of Bill Finger dying alone.... without the proper credit he deserved. 🦇 🔦 😢
  5. You’re off to a good start. Do you have insurance on the shipping for full value? Did you use PayPal etc? Contact everyone involved in the sale including the shipper. Hopefully you can at least get your money back. im afraid the items may be lost forever I hope not. Very sorry this happened.
  6. I think Peter G is gleefully mocking the absurdity of that valuation. Not to say it won’t get there. This is some run of crazy we’re all on right now. Just before posting this I watched a bus driver on YouTube trying to fend off a passenger while steering a racing bus. The speeding 🚌 suddenly veers Sharp left and then up over a rail to plunge into the Yangtze River. We were cruising along at safe speed before March 2020. How this ends feels certain but when? is a whole other ball of wax.
  7. This may also have been a consignment from Conrad. He’s the only one I knew between 97-2000 actively showing FF 5 pages. He also had a page where the FF were working around crocodiles for $7K ask in that 1997 catalog.
  8. This happened to me ten years ago. A page in my CAF was “borrowed” and posted for sale for $10,000 with free shipping. I was furious. I contacted the site and they were excellent pulling down the post. yours is on eBay. eBay sucks when it comes to addressing questionable or outright rip off auctions. Im sorry man. Some people suck in this world!’n
  9. haha yes. In the states back in the nineties I listened to Jim Romes sports radio show. They referenced “the Jungle” everyday. And you had to call in with a solid “take.” that is back up whatever you talked about. so yeah haha OP thought it was funny I called this the Jungle. And he talked about sharing sizzling take. Jungle Take Thats 🍇 🦍 language for sure Love G&R also !!!
  10. Sizzling Takes Steamy? You mean Steamy Nicks or Steamy Ray Vaughn? 1) Fair Market Value can’t keep up with inflation 2) Todd McFarlane inked a page or more of backgrounds for some guy named Miller on some book that was big in the 80’s. 🦇 👨 3) Phantom Stranger art is an under appreciated collectible asset 4) All newbies catch shade in the CGC Jungle 5) You should’ve bought Cockrum’s second X-Men run earlier 6) Sal Buscema is kind of a big deal 7) Forgetting to bid on the day of a huge Heritage Auction is worse then forgetting the password to your Bitcoin. Did I mention established board members give the new guys a hard time? Welcome babsrocks31. Glad you are here. 🍇 🦍
  11. Nice score !!! Is it really 40 years since I lay on the living room floor reading that very issue of SSOC? Dang I was 12 years old
  12. When I was a child I read comics from the seventies into the early eighties. As I grew older I found that despite my nostalgic sweet spot I became fascinated with the earlier appearances of the sixties. Eventually I became a fascinated with the Golden age. So for me..... a huge want was to get comics from my sweet spot 1974-1986. But my fever grew and I bought an ASM 1 and a FF 1. Then to the golden age a Submariner 1. My art habits are the same. I have my loves from the seventies but it turns out my appreciation grew from reading sixties comics and so I perused sixties art. New collectors who appreciate art no matter their sweet spot will be lured into other categories. The kids with money may cause high prices in nineties art. They are likely to also be intrigued by the art before their sweet spot. it’s like baseball cards. I grew up loving Nolan Ryan the Mets in the seventies and eighties. But I damn sure would by Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth Willie Mayes and Hank Aaron. if I could afford them😀
  13. Kirby and Wood yeah man!!! Take a minute to study what Mac Raboy does with Flash Gordon. I had a great page and let it go. A woman came into a comic store in Vegas 1999 and sold six pieces to the owner. I bought a fantastic Sunday from him by Raboy. In person maybe the best artwork I’ve ever studied.
  14. Not enough information to back up the hype. However point taken to offer two disparate legends and their followers. That is Alex Ross and Bill Sienkiewicz. Follows similar narratives that disposables become treasures, artist and reps raise clientele by selling an ambiance. Agree in some ways high end pieces and actually art of all categories and price range outdistancing stock market. What I get out of it is our hobby has street cred and even the snobby world of chic Hollywood types and banker-investors looking at a sure thing. Hey guys are we actually the cool kids now? 😎
  15. You have the right attitude for this crazy hobby Malvin. Glad you had some good results. 🍇 🦍
  16. Where did this piece wind up? Did Albert Moy own it? if it came up again for sale it would be fun to see how much it would fetch. Would love more provenance details to understand the original owner acquiring it and how? And it “sold” for $6k previously then comes up for this auction with estimate 2k-6K?
  17. Another artistic genius 👍 maybe John worked on the interior pages. Great points DanCooper.
  18. ⬆️Wow thanks for that info DanCooper. I remember Rosenberg had a high grade copy of Young Men 24 I really wanted. I sure do remember Jay and the Mint. Everything you said was right. Some guys are wired different. He played big shot but likely got bored. Jay saw a good thing and he did it well but yeah if he’d held on to that collection!! Speaking of: where is this original art? Was this John Romita? I think it was,,,,
