  1. I blew an opportunity to ask him (Liefield) about feet...or lack of feet. In all seriousness a cool guy and a part of comic history. I wish Mike Mignola could come back. He is such a pleasure to talk to. Very fond of his art also.
  2. In defense of the flipper, and in spite of the fact no Wolverine since it’s not the last page...... it does have John Ambruster on the page. Extra $20K bump seems like a bargain.
  3. Again grape ape enjoyed himself. It’s really a grown up, laid back experience. No hassle or pressure. Tons of art to browse in person. If you collect art I don’t have to tell you what a difference it makes to hold a page in your hands. I saw many pagers I’ve been interested in for a long time. Seeing them up close helped me prioritize my asks in the future. Glen is easy to talk to and we go way back to the early days of eBay. Bachata always friendly and has probably the best collection I’ve ever seen. Some of his personal NFS collection would make grown men weep with envy. I don’t see Saul as much as I used to so it was nice to say hi. Rich also very nice I got a close up look at a page I’ve wanted for ten years. Thing is the price goes up every year so I can’t catch up. The effort to put on this show in a safe way was very much appreciated. There was and is much anxiety about the future because of Covid. So far our hobby has thrived despite fears but we’ll have to view the cumulative effect of various factors. I’m thinking death (estates) of artists and collectors.Retirement. Financial security. The change in demographics and their collecting preferences. IMO it was a great way to spend part of my Sunday with Mrs. Grapeape. To engage in a normal activity after six months of Covid health concerns. Thanks again Bechara especially. Also my buddy Glen who is so easy to talk to and does a great job finding new and interesting pages. Next year.....maybe November? We’ll have a better attended show. I’d love to meet more of you guys. Grape + ape
  4. X-Men Annual 14 page 32 Art Adams and Dan Green There’s a distinction of “chronological” first appearance as this predates X-Men 266 by a few weeks. Gambit is in that mix of characters in the bottom splash. A no prize award for the boardie that points him out. What are your thoughts gang? Funny because I love the raging Cajun but never really thought about the annual vs X-Men 266. This one is on Comic-Link
  5. Yeah but look at the Phantom Stranger next to Moon Knight. What if there was a way to put those two together? A Moon Knight-Phantom Stranger Marvel-DC crossover. Any volunteers on what that might look like if arts and crafts bullpen mocked a cover up?
  6. Saul was also there from Comic Odyssey but wasn’t set up for pics. Yeah Tom’s a great guy. I gave him props on Bechara’s website it’s looking good.
  7. Grapeape arrived early and had other commitments so had to cut out at lunch time. The fellas asked that you check out their websites to see the latest art pickups. It was great to see this take place. We’re all adjusting to these crazy times but it was good to see old friends. Also had a chance to let the Kirby Museum scan 3 of my pieces for archiving. 8. Forgot to post odds on how quickly this thread would get sidetracked. For you horse racing addicts post time odds 1-9
  9. To my knowledge the link provided by Glen represents who we will see. In the past more exhibitors but I’m guessing COVID-19 concerns had to factor in to safely limiting the number of exhibitors. No worries though—-a staggering amount of premium quality OA will be on hand. Bechara - Nostalgic Investments Glen - Panel Page Art Saul with Odyssey Comics Cool Lines Josh Gray The Jack Kirby Museum
  10. Yeah I’m not speaking for the owner but I am speculating. Is this a no cost thrill ride to show off a cool piece? Has the last six months placed a strain on available cash flow? Who knows. Gene has revealed in another post what he sold it for. We know what other McSpidey covers have sold for. Though not exactly fresh to us here on CGC it could potentially find that one guy that didn’t get an opportunity and has the means. Of course to really dazzle and surprise it’s going to take at least 2 motivated buyers. I personally really like this cover. My guess is this one will find a buyer in spite of a reserve. I don’t want to lay -250 though so I need some of you guys to dump your kids college money on the under😆
  11. So you’re saying essentially...meh? Take your time. There is a lot on the line....the money line that is!
  12. Drummy I’m sympathetic to that. I will do my best to try and get pics of art that is not available online,I will post those pics on this thread. Last year I was able to pair CGC board members with sellers on pieces that showed up in LA. It was my pleasure to do so.
  13. Well it spent a good part of last year hanging on the wall of a Las vegas Comic Shop. The show me the money ask was a cool $200,000. Was there any doubt this one would come up for public auction? Ok you mugs here's a few things to toss around. A) Is Comic-Link the right venue to offer this piece? Why or why not? B) Hazzard a guess as to the final hammer price C) Artistically and or historically what are your thoughts on this cover ( As a stand alone, in comparison to other McFarlane Spidey like ASM 300, 328 or Spider-Man 1) and in relation to other big pieces that have come to market. Prop Wager Odds: The cover sells for $200k Over: -250 Under: + 350 The cover is described by any board member with Meh... or any other related derivative. - 800 A board member finds a way to tie the Phantom Stranger into this thread. Even Money
  14. GUMBYDAMIT you are correct sir. I've been scrambling for two weeks to raise bananas for this. I look forward to meeting any fellow CGC members who make it out. Love your avatar by the way. Actually the combination of sound ( S N I K T ) and voice ( Eddie Murphy as Gumby) I hear when your avatar appears has triggered mild seizures but the after buzz is always pleasant.
  15. 🍇 + 🦍 will be in attendance. Grateful to Bechara for his efforts to make this happen. Also very grateful to good guys like Glen bringing a cache of excellent art to display and sell.
  16. He must have 🎵 lost himself in the moment 🎵 saw the VGO Avemgers 2 and said you better own it 🎵
  17. please keep at it guys. I love it but hate not knowing the artist.
  18. GRAPEAPE predicts much publicity but the art will not "sell."That is if a reserve is set it will not be met. If it's actually run at auction without a reserve and does not approach fantastical numbers it will remain with the interested party one way or the other.
