  1. https://ktla.com/news/local-news/city-of-los-angeles-fines-universal-studios-250-in-connection-with-illegal-tree-cutting/ An investigation by the Los Angeles City Controller’s Office has found Universal Studios liable for illegally trimming trees on studio property, on a day when writers, actors and other unionized film industry workers were set to picket during their ongoing labor dispute. The studios will be fined $250 for not getting the correct permit to trim the trees, which is the normal citation for a first-time offense. Los Angeles City Controller Kenneth Mejia said that while city laws limit fines and penalties, if the studio were to illegally cut the trees again, the fine could go up to $1,000. Trees are seen outside Universal Studios on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, in Burbank, Calif. The actors strike comes more than two months after screenwriters began striking in their bid to get better pay and working conditions. Fair The trees were cut sometime during the weekend of July 15-16 in an area where picketers are known to stage protests. The timing of the tree-cutting scandal – dubbed “Treegate” by some – comes as protesters continue to picket outside in record-high temperatures. Some strikers claim that the company was trying to stop the protests by removing the shade from the protest area, but NBCUniversal reported that it was simply “routine landscaping.” According to Mejia, the trees are managed by the city and are “essential to providing Angelenos with significant environmental and public health benefits, especially during a heatwave.” The L.A. Times reported that the city only has 12 inspectors to protect over 700,000 trees across the city.
  2. I would put The Thing in the super-heavyweights.
  3. I love this series but it is the poster child for being plagued by lateness. This was supposed to be a monthly series and for the the first half it was. But issue 7 was 2 months late. #9 was a month late. #10 3 months late #11 3 months late And #12 was a whopping 8 months late. Issue 1 was cover dated Dec 1982. # 12 was dated Apr 1985. I was in the 11th grade when issue #1 came out. I was finishing up my first semester of college when it finally finished.
  4. To piggy back on this idea, maybe have an artist to a Cap commission. Another suggestion, see if anybody from the Captain America franchise will do a cameo video for him. I checked and Chris Evans is not on cameo, at least not the actor Chris Evans who played Cap in the movies.
  5. Honestly, you are not missing much. It's every one of Stan's stories that we've heard a thousand times before. The only thing I had never seen before was clips of Stan's home movies.
  6. There are only 4 heads on Mount Rushmore. But there are lots of signors of the Declaration of Independence.
  7. I do. Just like when DC killed Superman. That's why there have been no new Superman comics since 1992.
  8. Same here. I could buy Kamandi, New Gods, Forever People, Mister Miracle all day long for $1 each. I could just never find JO 134 for whatever reason.
  9. Like others have said, Overstreet and Wizard. But also it was about what you could find. Without the internet, your options were limited. In the late 80s I really got into Kirby's DC stuff at a time when absolutely nobody else cared about it. I could never find a copy of Jimmy Olsen 134, first Darkseid. I finally found a copy at a convention where they were asking VF price for a beat to heck water damaged copy. I bought it because I had never even seen one and didn't know when I would ever see another one. I think I paid $8
  10. Jim Aparo's first Brave and Bold cover also featured the white suit Wonder Woman
  11. Every summer I couldn't wait for the annual JLA / JSA team up. For me this one was the best. The JLA and The JSA reintroduce the Seven Soldiers of Victory. The sad part for me is that for years I only had the middle issue, I didn't know how the story ends for several years.
  12. There's just something I've always loved about this cover.
  13. Kevin Maguire is pretty active on social media. You can ask him if it's legit and there's a good chance you will get a reply. That would go a long way in selling the book.
  14. Let's keep this Charlton party going. This is not mine found it on CAF.
