  1. Respectfully, modern low print run variants have unique or cool covers different from the A cover. 35 cent variants are exactly the same…except the price tag. I never got the interest in those books, frankly.
  2. It is tax free. A married couple filing jointly gets a ~$25K personal income tax exemption.
  3. Glen. Maybe you should take a stab at writing the definitive Lee and/or Kirby biography.
  4. One thing that irritates me to no end about all of the “All Stan did was add words to Jack & Steve’s art,” is that Lee frigging ART DIRECTED SPIDER-MAN. The reason why we have Ditko’s brilliant character design rather than Kirby’s uninspired version (or Don Hecks’s, etc) is because he knew that design was great and gave Ditko the editorial freedom to develop the visual language of the character and his universe. Stan Lee was a phenomenal editor in chief and editor. He kept the marvel universe continuity flame going and had final say on what saw print. He had exquisite taste - at least during the early to mid 1960’s. The risk of revisionist history is that you can go too far in the other direction “correcting” the historical record. Great print editors are generally lauded as hugely influential on the output of their publications. Stan deserves better than being dumped on like this.
  5. The way Congress treats small time collectors of collectibles is criminal, IMHO. How about exempting the first $25,000 in annual realized capital gains for long-held collectibles from taxation? If you hold it for at least 5 years, you get the first $25,000 in total gains on all collectible sales or trades tax free. If you sell your bike for a “profit” at a garage sale, you can get taxed on that stuff. It’s really stupid.
  6. The MCU pop culture wave is lifting all boats. The first Iron Man film came out 13 years ago in 2008.
  7. That Cap 100 page is nice. Outta my price range, I suspect. Might follow it just in case.
  8. A 70’s Kirby FF page with the team on it is ~$9K-$10K. a classic, early Kirby Thor vs Herc battle page from Thor #126? There are some doozies in that book. If it’s one of the better ones, $25K seems about right. Maybe $20k if you’re lucky.
  9. Dave did the whole thing. He sent me his roughs and breakdowns before he finished it. We followed the Marvel Method. I write a -script and suggested panel progression, he drew and lettered it.
  10. I had him draw my wife as a comic book character in a panel page that I scripted. A day in her work life. He did a great job reproducing her likeness and using reference photos. He’s especially talented at drawing likenesses.
  11. Dave is great. I had him do a special commission fir my wife’s birthday. Also, here are some favorite pieces of his that I own
  12. The whole 5 page introduction story. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/dan-decarlo-and-rudy-lapick-archie-s-madhouse-22-complete-5-page-story-presenting-sabrina-total-5-/p/7244-168001.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515
  13. I probably have three total pieces that Heritage would even take.
  14. Quesada/Palmiotti Daredevil pages seem to be spiking quite a bit.
  15. Pretty sure Wrightson Frankenstein “A” plates should now go up to the tippy top. The cover plate sold for $1.2 million.
  16. Someone posted the (supposed) printing plate for the cover to Spider-Man 252 on eBay a few years ago.
  17. A couple of fun pieces. One is from Leviathan by Nick Pitarra... The other is the best page from Nicola Scott’s ink wash masterpiece, Black Magick.
