I thought some of the Kirby Marvel pieces went low.

You could say that about virtually any artist on Aquaman. ADDING: I'll except Paul Norris (his co-creator) and Ramona Fradon (a fan favorite) on Aquaman.

I’m tapped out for a while. Bought a bunch of stuff the last few months, and have a European vacation coming up in April. So I’m not bidding on anything.

The only reason is, I think, that he never had an historic run on a "hot" character or title. I'm not sure if Birds of Prey counts. The closest would be his run on Micronauts, but even then he's somewhat overshadowed by Michael Golden. And that's his early, less mature style.

My best panel page entry was this, which got 7 votes. This is the one I thought would do the best of all my entries, but 7 votes is OK given the level of competition.

Boy the competition was tough. I'm kind of shocked the cover I entered even got 13 votes, which was my best showing.

I think the Larsen/Bagley art price spike is Venom/Carnage related to a great degree. And I believe you have to include Cockrum X-men art as well as Byrne X-men art.

Since when? I thought the idea was to vote for your favorite 5 pieces acquired (by anyone) in the past calendar year (and which were posted to CAF)? So, if I acquire a Frazetta Conan book cover painting, I wouldn't be allowed to vote for it? I'd have to vote for a Boris Vallejo vulgarity, or something, instead just because I own the Frazetta? I thought it was a contest to help promote CAF?

This. If it's one of the 5 best (in your opinion) you should be able to vote for it. As I said, we let the people running for President of the United States vote for themselves.

Speaking as a Jewish person, it seems like selling off a Picasso to obtain enough funds to successfully escape Nazi Germany was well worth it. Especially if they got anything close to FMV at the time of the sale. And, I wonder if the family itself is suing for the painting, or representatives of a Trust or estate set up for them after they died. It may be telling if the family members who actually sold the painting and escaped were not the ones to initiate the lawsuit.
