  1. While it’s not Savage Sword art, there’s a nice 3 page set on eBay from Conan the Barbarian that’s Buscema/Chan https://www.ebay.com/itm/394421794962?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=-6Y7zrGkREe&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  2. That's a lot of money for an Aunt May page.
  3. I think the Larsen/Bagley art price spike is Venom/Carnage related to a great degree. And I believe you have to include Cockrum X-men art as well as Byrne X-men art.
  4. Since when? I thought the idea was to vote for your favorite 5 pieces acquired (by anyone) in the past calendar year (and which were posted to CAF)? So, if I acquire a Frazetta Conan book cover painting, I wouldn't be allowed to vote for it? I'd have to vote for a Boris Vallejo vulgarity, or something, instead just because I own the Frazetta? I thought it was a contest to help promote CAF?
  5. This. If it's one of the 5 best (in your opinion) you should be able to vote for it. As I said, we let the people running for President of the United States vote for themselves.
  6. Speaking as a Jewish person, it seems like selling off a Picasso to obtain enough funds to successfully escape Nazi Germany was well worth it. Especially if they got anything close to FMV at the time of the sale. And, I wonder if the family itself is suing for the painting, or representatives of a Trust or estate set up for them after they died. It may be telling if the family members who actually sold the painting and escaped were not the ones to initiate the lawsuit.
  7. Who will be the first person to build a roof out of CGC slabs?
  8. One of the very underrated parts of this Hobby is that it often corrects creator credits and attributions.
  9. If you can vote for yourself for President of the United States, you should be able to vote for your own artwork.
  10. This was pretty much my reasoning for the suggestion to allow up to 10 votes in each category. Either that or have a "runoff" after a first round of voting that narrows the selection down to the top ten for a "final" round of voting. But people might have voting fatigue at that point. There were over 1800 pieces of art entered this year.
  11. Then let people vote for as many as 10 pages rather than 5.
  12. Also, I think they combined Published and unpublished for each category, which is a decided disadvantage for unpublished pieces.
  13. I have a modern page that had no lettering on the published version. So, the OA for the page is the same as the final printed version.
  14. I think it's the first and last things. This piece does absolutely nothing for me. But I'm outside of the nostalgia demo for this piece.
  15. They are really paranoid about something happening the art during shipping.
  16. I look at it this way, if you did not enter a heavy hitter piece into the contest, and you still get high single or even into double digit votes, your piece is pretty special.
  17. A "Kraven's Last Hunt" interior page was just posted. Mike Zeck and Bob McLeod The Spectacular Spider-Man #131 Story | LotID #126001 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com)
  18. It used to be a truism in comics: Neither Uncle Ben nor Bruce Wayne's parents would ever come back from the dead. That's no longer true, obviously. Well....Thunderbird is the only truly dead and gone character in all of comics (Deadman, Vampires and Zombies notwithstanding).
  19. I've done both. It just depends. If you split them, you want to make sure the art isn't harmed. Usually they are just held together with masking tape. And, I'd recommend putting split pages into the very middle of the portfolio so they lay flat roughly on the same plane. In other cases I decided to keep the page folded up and placed it -- one half showing -- in a single portfolio page. It just preference.
