@DSTNice pair! Is this double-5.0 a coincidence or have you (even unwittingly!) started a broader 5.0 project beyond early Spideys in 5.0W? Maybe you mentioned already and I missed it. That would make for some group shot.
Thanks!! No just couldn't resist pairing the 16s. The only other 5.0 WPs in my personal collection are a pair of page-turn covers Batman 14 and 42

Patently? I dunno, unless you have blinders on? The prior high for a 4.5 during all of 2021 was C/OW for 84K on 10/31, four months after a 6/23 sale for $51K, which was a whopping >60% jump, and it remained the all-time record after three additional 4.5 sales to end 2021. And in 5.5, that recent C/OW on ComicLink for $117K had a CVA sticker, but even w/o it, it was clear it presented well. It didn't surprise me that the ComicLink book also sold for near the current record for a 5.5 ($120K). So again, as some folks noted above, there is no clear trend suggesting "massive" PQ bumps in recent sales, at least certainly not in the 4.5 and now also 5.5 grades. Regardless of which key, in higher grades a PQ bump could be expected to be more consistent b/c there are otherwise fewer differences btwn books. And then there's market inefficiency, which could explain any surprises. So broad, definitive statements could be tricky.
Just something folks should be aware of, especially since all books in a given grade, regardless of PQ, should enjoy the same return on investment. The moral of the story appears to be, if you've been hunting for a must-have blue chip book for your PC and find a nice book for the grade (especially mid- to lower-grades), just grab it in a sustainable rising market. You can always sell/trade later to upgrade (be it the technical grade, the PQ, or anything else about the book), if that's your thing.
It was one person, not "some folks" and they've been arguing about PQ every chance they get for years. But if you want to join their camp by all means. "Your thing" seems to be provocation and the need to argue anyway, so you'd fit right in!
And thank you for once again explaining to me the moral of the story Panto-Dad. Your condescending and in no way off-putting opinion is (as always) the right one

Heritage site does now reflect the corrected $120K (incl BP) for the AF15 5.5 White sale on 1/14/22, and we have the AF15 5.5 C/OW (w/ CVA sticker) on ComicLink that sold for $117K on 1/17/22, and that's it as far as I know for 2022. But did Heritage notify anyone (like those who were tracking that AF15 5.5) of the correction? I didn't get any email despite Heritage always sending updates on tracked items. Now I wonder whether I am unaware of any other corrected sales for a big book (any title)?
If it weren't for the folks who kindly share sales-related updates, I wouldn't have known. Apparently, even GPA @gpanalysis still doesn't! So thank you.
I just noticed that as well that GPA still reflects the AF15 5.5 sale as $132k even though it was corrected on the HA site to $120k
I too wonder if that error impacted any of the sales that took place after 1/14

The 5.5 actually went for $120k on heritage, which is very close to what the 5.5 on comiclink , without "white pages" on the label sold for shortly after ($117k), and the 4.0 that sold on comilink for $78k is also consistent with other recent 4.0 sales of copies that do not have "white pages" on the label.
In short, no consistent or qualifiable differences in prices are observed based on that alone.
-J.
The sale price was corrected to $120k but for awhile was showing as $132k.
I’m not getting into a debate with you regarding page quality. You’ve beat that drum to death over the years.

Few recent sales on GPA
7.0 on 1/13 $252k
5.5 on 1/14 $132k
5.0 on 1/23 $78,0004.5 1/16 $66,000
2.5 on 1/24 $42,300
Also this 4.0 sale from comiclink on 1/15. Between this sale and the 5.5 on HA for $132k, it goes to show the price driver of white pages on this book (where the page quality is actually rare).

On 1/19/2022 at 12:38 PM, alexgross.com said:wp are not rare on asm1. every time heritage has an event auction there is usually one wp copy. it's far, far tougher to find af15 with wp. you can go a year without seeing one at any major auction platform. asm3 is tougher to find with wp than asm1. @DSTwould really be the expert on this, since he has collected all the ditkos with WP.
You pretty much summed up my thoughts. If the description within the recent AF15 4.0 WP sale for $78,400 on comiclink were believed to be true, then there are only 23 graded universal unrestored copies of AF15 with WP (out of 2,274 on the census) or almost 1:100. I can't speak to whether the "23" number is accurate or not, but I can speak to my own personal experience as a strictly WP collector and someone who has been fortunate to own 2 WP copies along my collecting journey. Since the inception of third party professionally grading comics, I've kept track of every AF15 with WP I've ever seen and I can account for 15 copies (including the two I've owned). It's definitely a unicorn amongst SA keys. ASM1 with WP however is not (it's still a great achievement though!). Owning any big SA key, let alone one with WP is pretty special, so congrats!
As for the rest of the Ditko drawn ASMs, across all grades, you are correct as I've found ASM3 to be the rarest
Regarding PQ being subjective, just like grade, I completely agree. However I don't think that necessarily makes the point about value. I see the other side and the fact that since it's so subjective, owning a WP copy (especially when it’s a bigger SA key), makes it all the more worthy of the premiums that WP go for when you can find them. Or maybe I'm just rationalizing that to myself since I only buy WP books and as such have to pay top dollar

Thanks! I agree… with it’s outstanding colors, perfect wrap, and unicorn white pages, I think it would probably do quite well on HA, but I’ll never know since I can’t imagine ever selling it…
If you couldn’t tell I’m quite fond of my copy

Haha not quite…
All my other Spidey books are 8.0 and higher. 13 of them (out of 33) happen to be in grade 8.0 though
