  1. You need the KY Jelly to slide the pages open.
  2. I agree. If this is grading on a curve, I'd really hate to see a .5. Maybe a greywater sewer.. I think that Hopalong Cassidy I mention is really a 3.5.
  3. 8.0 I keep coming back to it and the top cover pushes it down to a 7.5 for me. Pressing would help.
  4. The only problems I see are the upper left corner on the back cover and the paper looking somewhat discolored and that may be the lighting. 8.5
  5. I'm more inclined to an 8.0 Nice book. Something crunched the pages at the top of the 3rd interior shot on both pages. It's the same crunch. How much farther does that go?
  6. It kind of looks like it was pressed and the staple completely popped along with the spine split giving in as well. I suspect it's why it can look so clean and so bad at the same time. 3.0.
  7. and thank you for the better photos! Nice comic to have on a winter eve by the fire, unslabbed.
  8. Once demand drops, the prices follow. Most comics don't sustain interest in the longer run. I mean, look at my Hopalong Cassidy's from 1948. (who?) Poor value and they smell bad. Some titles will likely retain value. Early Action Comics, Detective comics, Early Batman , Spiderman and the FF4 will hold on a long time but again, demand rules. To get some perspective, I had the 950 comics that divided into two groups, Keys and dreck ( or dreck lite). The keys brought me a handsome return on what was really only a love affair but the dreck which was all pre 1970's marvel got me $3.75 each. They cost me .12 each. I was not unhappy at all but if it's a love affair, just do it but don't expect to sail off on the QE2. The guys making money are the slabbers and graders.
  9. It does look awfully clean on the right cover edge. The lower staple looks problematic as well on the back. Both left corners are dinged. I'm down in the 5.0 range.
  10. and yu well may get one yet. Just not this particular issue. The magic in all of this remains the surprises.
  11. well, the photos suck. Can you try to shoot this again, I see the spine ticks and the back cover upper left but it's not good enough to give a fair evaluation.
  12. This fails focus issues to observe a grade. I actually gave my Avengers four away in 2018. It was in the box which had the AF15. It had a torn cover. I've never regretted it even once. It was received by a man who bought 2 ASM 129's from me and when he got an ASM 14 it had a flaw neither of us recognized. I felt badly and sent him this book. I had some pretty seriously nice junk.
  13. I don't see restored copies going up much in value. The AF 15 in general has been all over the place in mid grades . I'd suggest getting a real copy and spending your money if you have it to spare on other things that have a better chance of financially rewarding you. My opinion of course.
  14. the worlds of 4.5- 5.5 is really murky and on any given day, it can be fairly evaluated at one of those three grades. Once you go higher, the demands tighten and by the time you hit 7.0, you have a seriously well preserved comic. Above 8.0, it really is getting damn perfect with just some niggling details holding it back. Grading is tough. Below 4.5, it's a crapshoot and value monetarily isn't often that great a payoff. Given the costs of pressing, cleaning and slabbing, it's not often worth it either. When I was initially getting opinions on my AF 15, I saw as low as a 3.5. It graded out at a 5.0 after cleaning , pressing and slabbing, all which cost more when the powers that be think you have something valuable. Given the time it was sold, and the grade given, that was a substantial difference between the 3.5 and the 5.0. It's just not the case with Thor of which I have a complete run but it has little value if you want to cash in. It has to be better than 8.5 to help. Mine aren't. I just love Thor. (It's Hela Actually, she's hot) . Grade a thousand middle grade marvels. It's unsettling. Bob Storms taught me a lot. My opinion of course.
  15. maybe he was looking for some comic relief. I'd like to see a St Bernard sitting on that couch as a follow up photo
