  1. It is an injury but not devastating. I'd give a 6-5-7.0. If the corner was missing entirely, it would be worse. This way, it's just sad.
  2. I'm at 4.0 The background characters look like the Village people.
  3. and then there's those of us here for pure entertainment. Ignore us at your own risk.
  4. That is one strange wrap. With the two bits of the front gone and a ton of staining, I could still give this a 2.0
  5. The wear is all in the spine with small color breaks at the lower right hand. Lower cover front has taken a bit of a beating but all in all, a black cover really shows wear and this looks pretty good. Rear cover is quite nice. 6.0-6.5
  6. The corner deterioration on both the front and back are real problems. Conan #1 has always been hard for me since the way the drawing is constructed and printed makes for a very tough read of a number of issues. The top staple appears to be slightly rusty. Upper left rear damaged, upper right front by the comic code is crumbling. I'm at a 5.5 with some good and some bad features. I loved the artwork.
  7. I wouldn't but I would get it slabbed to stop any further deterioration.
  8. The stains are a problem in the pages and I don't see a press helping on them. I had what I thought was a pristine copy of this and it pulled only an 8.5. This is not as good. I'm at 7.5 to a possible 8.0 , but it's the stains...
  9. I can't read the spine at all which would help. Some interior shots would help. So, no grade from me yet but it looks really nice.
  10. I see that comic differently in that I think it will really benefit from a press and clean. It just may not drive the value up much,. It could push it to a 5.0, but as is" 4.5 or lower.
  11. when I sold my collection, 4 of the 950 were in slabs. One rather valuable one is one we would periodically read but when it came time to sell, I needed to come to an agreed monetized value so it got graded and slabbed. Without the slab, it's the subject of arguments enhanced by five figures. With the slab, it has had a monetary reference placed on it. . Don't slab stuff that doesn't meet the criteria. Bagged and boarded is fine unless you are getting ready to sell. Buying unslabbed is trickier and goes back to "Buy the book, not the grade.". I still have all my JIM and Thor, all unslabbed. I like reading mine still.
  12. It's simply not worth the cost of the clean and press. By the time you've paid for that, you could just buy a better copy. 3.0-3.5 maybe
  13. Overstreet is quite useful but it's not a beacon showing current pricing. It's relative to activity. GPA would be a better reference. You have to decide what you can afford and how much you want a comic book. That's on you. Supply and demand would tell you whether this is a one shot sort of deal or whether it will usually be available. Books like the AF15 aren't rare in general but they are rare in high grades. So, that would let you see a certain amount of variety in pricing for the book over a few years. I've seen that book in a 5.0 as high as $55K and as little as $32K. That's quite a spread but over three years. I tend to think we're heading into a very weak economy soon. Selling books is frequently a result of recession. After recession, those same books often go up. As in the stock market, the real secret is knowing when to buy and when to sell. If you're talking 50K, that's one thing. If you're talking $500 bucks, that's quite another. Don't gamble more than you can stand to lose.
