My road to success (Moving Update 2)
Patriot6 commented on uchiha101's journal entry in uchiha101's Journal
I don't want to speak for Wall, but as a longtime, and current, Canadian tax payer, it is hard to read some of this knowing that you are literally taking money off of our cheques to fund trivial pursuits, like you are entitled to it, with no attempt to give back to the system. It is pretty frustrating to tell you the truth. I hope you understand how it could be upsetting to go to work everyday and have money taken off of one's cheque every two weeks so that you can play at selling video games and comic books. As my very blunt grandmother would say, "shame on you." If you are an able bodied young man, depression or not, you can still put ketchup on a shelf for a living, among a multitude of other possibilities for meaningful employment. This is the only way to point your life in the direction which you state you want in your journal. Now I just happened in here by accident, read the journal and did not intend on writing much of anything, but after reading the exchange with Wall, it struck a nerve with me. I won't say anything after this either because stopping in here will only upset me but : Get off your computer, go get a job, stop leaching off of the taxpayer, you're only entitled to what you earn. -
YEAR IN REVIEW: What's New In Your Collection...
Patriot6 replied to Cat-Man_America's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
In my imagination, I always thought sly Jug was trying to hook her up with Archie so she would walk over, thus leaving the sundae behind for Jug to liberate. -
'PLANET COMICS' (is deserving of its own thread)
Patriot6 replied to Paul © ® ⚽️💙™'s topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Congrats everyone! I don't collect Planets, but enjoy stopping in from time to time to gaze. Had fun seeing the excitement last night in here, even for someone totally uninvolved, it was something! If anyone needs to unload some Archie to pay their tab....just saying Kidding aside, I hope you have them all by Christmas so your wives can put you out on the couch for insisting on taking comics to bed. -

Unemployed + tax refund ...... This is a tangent and nothing directed at you, but dang it I hate our system sometimes!!!! -

Is this a simple removal or restoration?
Patriot6 replied to frozencanuck 's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
If it were me searching out an upgrade to this beauty, on eBay, I would be looking to purchase it already slabbed since there is too much margin for error buying a raw and hoping it hits higher at such a high grade. You may also want to put out a WTB add in the WTB section of the boards. I know there are some higher grade copies kicking around that have been for sale in the past...fyi -

I think this is the comic I take out and hold and stare at the most. I was so happy to add it earlier this year. -

Have a Cigar! MLJ Publishing and Golden Age Archie only!
Patriot6 replied to Shield's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
I think I may have at one point. It is the navigation of the site that I struggle with. It is frustrating and not very user friendly for a computer dumb dumb like me. But with what you describe I am more determined to do so! -
That is awesome....I would play with that today haha

What does this one look like set up?!

Patriot6 replied to Shield's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
No, to be honest I only ever look at CLbecause the other websites are too confusing for me to figure out. Having said that, I've never purchased anything from CL because I can't figure out what I would actually pay if I bid and the shipping to Canada, I'm told, is ridiculous. I see things I want all the time on the exchange or being auctioned. Would love to see the books though! -

Archie-Palooza for me lately, all upgrades or filling holes, most from the boards, thanks to @thirdgreenham for helping me fill a hole and upgrade an issue :) The slightly brittle on the 35 is a bummer, but it sure presents nicely. Sucked me right in! I was super excited to add the 72. It is a beaut. The upgrading never ends or the hunt to fill the missing issues and boy do I have bad luck in auctions, but, in my mind, I'm on a roll! Issues 29 and 35 are exactly one year apart and all that changed is the colour of Archie's bow tie. -
Barring the stain traversing the entire book, I suspect the stain may be a little mouldy. How does it smell? Whether or not the stain can be cleaned up a bit I do not know. If it cannot, it is not worth pressing in my opinion. I think it would look great in a slab. As is, I'm at 3.5. Nice book Bird!

Does the stain go through the book and how are the staples?
-
I have a few. They're actually pretty tough to find.
