  1. Much like the books I posted this looks like is a beautiful book with nothing obvious contributing to the Brittle designation. I agree, the grading companies should have some kind of scale, like with restoration, to note extent and location of brittleness. I'm sure we would all look more kindly on a book with brittle corner(s) than a book that is completely separated at the spine with chips falling into the holder. As we all know, if you collect GA and are not made of money sometimes the only copy available to you is one with brittleness. It would be great to be able to have a better understanding of what you are buying.
  2. I have one brittle book that I bought because I've yet to see another one that was not brittl(USA Comics #8) and I have another book that I read before submitting which came back as slightly brittle (Archie #23). The Archie #23 did not have pieces falling off and there are not little pieces in the slab so ... e
  3. No love for Archie! Well, I do prefer Betty and Veronica.
  4. Then Reggie played a practical joke on you and, um, you might want to throw that water out.
  5. Welcome! While I own some high grade ducks I also own a few beaters so don't feel self-conscious. We love talking about Barks, his art, and the stories in addition to showing off our favorite books regardless of their condition. My collection runs the gambit from low grade to high and I love them all! For Looney Tunes stuff, look at this thread.
  6. I got a couple. So, so, close to completing the run (again ). Am I the only one who builds a run, sells it, and then builds it again a few years later?
  7. Accurate grading, fast shipping, and a nice guy! What more could you ask for?
  8. As someone who grew up using the Overstreet definition I totally agree. I don't know why warehouse finds were not labeled warehouse find. Would have reduced the confusion I felt when confronted with hundred, if not thousands, of file copies once the Internet took off. I knew they could not all be file copies but here we are.
  9. Don't suppose you have a nice #6 you'd share with the class, do you?
  10. Sometimes eBay comes through. I was afraid it was restored but I've checked it with a black light and nothing stands out.
  11. I have little to no desire to travel outside the country. Going someplace where I do not speak the language, the Coke comes without ice, and the food is stuff I wouldn't pay for at home; well, no, just...no. Still I do intend to go to the Galapagos Islands, and hopefully Africa, but that is because of the animals and not the people or food. I have traveled extensively related to my work and studies, most recently India, but I would never go outside the country for any other reason.
  12. Then you are not doing it right. My wife took me to San Diego Comic Con and gave me a choice between an Amazing Fantasy 15 or an All Select #1. That is a memory that I cherish every time I look at my wife or the comic.
  13. My wife is amazing. Her only concern is the plan on paying for purchases. If that is solid, then she does not care how much I spend. She also gets attached to certain books and pitches a fit if I announce I am going to sell. She still has not forgiven me for selling my Captain America Comics while I was unemployed for 6 months last year. While I regret the necessity of doing so, I do not regret doing so. I also want those books back but their cost is just too prohibitive relative to other books that would make me just as happy. I also cannot sell anything now without her approval.
