  1. I got my books back with the marker along the top of the books and it doesn't appear I was penalized for the marker when it came to grading. I think it's akin to distributor spray and it appears cgc doesn't ding us for it.
  2. I'm happy with the 9.6. I think I received a lot of lower guesses I feel because I wasn't showing the back of the book in the pictures and by the time I could have corrected that issue the book was already on it's way to CGC. Now I have to figure what I want to buy next. I have my sights on an X-Men 94 signed by Stan Lee and Chris Claremont. It's a 9.4 and I had the same book as a kid that I traded for my first electric guitar. I'm moving my daughter up to Florida State this month so the wife put the breaks on my comic budget this month but after this month I'm going into buying mode. My only question is whether I want to continue sending in books to be graded or buy books that are already graded. I think I'll do a bit of both.
  3. I saw an 8.5 CGC copy on mycomicshop.com selling for $425 I think. A CGC 9.4 copy was only priced at $525. Hard to believe I know. Plus mine is a Newsstand copy which might not mean much at the moment but there are rumblings about newsstand copies receiving some special recognition in the near future. First by CBCS and then CGC, I can't recall where I read that but it was recently. To answer your first question I am going to keep it. I keep all of my comics duds and all but this one will go on my wall of fame. I've only been collecting for a couple of years so my collection is growing quickly but it's such an addicting and fun hobby I can't stop myself. How long have you collected? Are you keeping your 8.0 300 book?
  4. One is and one isn't which is why I included pics of both. Thanks !
  5. Please review and evaluate my recently acquired copy of X-Men 141. I bought it at Megacon in Orlando but didn't get it signed due to Stan's line being longer than I ever imagined and that's after I spent two hours waiting before giving up.
  6. Please take a moment and review my ASM 36. Best guesses at a grade are much appreciated. I picked it up on vacation and had been wanting a copy for some time. I plan on holding onto it until I can get it signed and hopefully sketched on. Also let me know if it needs a press.
  7. I was hoping for a 9 but the corners were severely blunted. I had also submitted a copy of new mutants that came back 9.6. I really expected a 9.8. Oh well the gods have spoken. Congrats on your guess. You nailed it! In the future I may just start buying 9.8's from eBay. It seems everything I send in comes in lower than my expectations.
  8. 8.5. I just received mine back today and mine appeared to be in very similar condition to yours prior to grading and placed in the holder. Good luck!
  9. The grade is in. My book got a 9.6. Was hoping for the elusive 9.8 but you can't win them all.
  10. The grades are in. Spider got an 8.5. I was gunning for a 9.0 but no joy.
  11. The back of the book is beautiful but the corners are killers. A press may earn you a slightly higher grade but for now I'd say 8.0 - 8.5... It's a nice readers copy and a great book to have in your collection.
  12. I submitted 6 books at Megacon on 5/27. I received them on 7/6. All were SS. I expected a longer turnaround due to all of the conventions going on. I just submitted two more books this time using fast track service. I mailed them Friday 7/7/17 and they show received on cgc's website today. I'll try to update you all with the turnaround time.
  13. I'm going to have it graded and display it with my Spider Man 300 Newsstand issue I just sent off to CGC for grading. Thanks for your input.
  14. Yes it is a crease. I didn't see it until now. It's on the bottom left corner on the backside of the issue. And it breaks color. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I think I'll keep it raw and enjoy owning it as it is.
  15. Please take a moment to submit your best guess at a grade for this copy of Secret Wars.
  16. Please help me by grading my copy of hulk 340. The pages are bright white but the bottom left corner has some blunting.
  17. Great looking book. Nice vibrant cover. I'd give it a 7.0 with the issues you pointed out.
  18. Great book. I'd keep the book raw. Pressing it will only result in a minor grade bump in my humble opinion. I'd say 8.5 as it is.
  19. Awesome book. Wish it was mine. As far as grade I use some of my own collection as reference and therefore bestow a grade of 5.0.
  20. I'd give 121 a 6.0 to 6.5 mostly due to rounded corners, the staining by Spidey's right foot (it almost appears like someone attempted some amateur restoration) and finally the back of the book which needs cleaning. #122 has beautiful color but as Glassman said the missing staple is the kiss of death. I give 122 a 6.0.
  21. I agree with Jeffro that it's a complete waste of money. I know if my book looks good or not. If it catches on I'll be disappointed. I choose to not sell my books. In fact I've never sold a book. I only buy them so say I am given the option of buying one of two identical books one having the CVA sticker and one not, I would buy the issue without the sticker. I do not wish to support another layer of grading above and beyond what CGC and and similar services already offer. I feel like it holds the owner of a slabbed book hostage and the ransom is the little CVA sticker. It may sound extreme but that's how I feel.
