  1. Nova's only Cover Dated appearance in 1980 ! Some DB's show FF214 as an app - but it's actually single panel cameo of some random nova corps members.
  2. This is now a somewhat common seller tactic. Say you combine shipping and then do nothing, do nothing, do nothing, buyer more times than not will cough up the extra (double) shipping fee to avoid "trouble". It's passive-aggressive congressional type BS loophole eBay sellers are learning to exploit. IMHO give harsh well-worded negative feedback - while it wont do much or anything it's the only thing you can do. My first 22 years on eBay from 1999-2021 I left only 1 negative (to a fraudulent seller as ruled by eBay) and 2 neutrals. That was on at least 2100 transactions (number determined based on my feedback as buyer). I now leave negatives quite a bit more. I've not changed and am VERY forgiving, however the sellers - at least some of the ones I've encountered - have becomes worse. Perhaps they still feel entitled to bigger easy money on collectibles as they were getting from 2020-early 2022. Well those days are gone and for most will never be back in their lifetimes. Yo sellers - It's a Buyers market; Accept and Adapt! The Bear is hungry and will not be sated feeding on most collectibles for a loooong time.
  3. I have several sellers I purchase from over and over, due to professionalism and return policies. As for MCS I exclusively use their website - why pay 15-25% more on eBay for same item?
  4. Another DD1 9.8w sold on eBay this am for $340 and previous was $338. A year back in this thread I said it would nestle into the 275-350 range for the long haul. So far I'm right on the money. Decided to revamp my list as leaving DD1 off was a questionable choice. Now a top 7! 1) Groo Special #1 Eclipse - as I recall in the last 80's through late 90's it was the highest priced Groo in Overstreet. First Groo Comic I ever purchased. In my first CGC Modern submission I sent in my childhood copy. Having that exact copy in the 1st gen CGC 9.8 slab means as much to me as any comic book I won. 2) Groo #8 Pacific - Final Pacific issue but First Groo comic I ever read, a buddy's copy, and the first Groo back issue I ever purchased. it also led to my picking up Groo Special when it arrived at my LCS. 3) Groo #1 Pacific - First Groo Cover and 1st full-story. IMHO the most important Groo issue ever published.. The book that truly displayed the Character as we would know him. 4) Destroyer Duck #1 Eclipse - First published Groo appearance. No Dialog and the only pre-Evanier story. 5) Groo #120 Marvel/Epic - Final Marvel issue. While I've enjoyed Groo from other publishers since this last Marvel issue to me something has been missing. Perhaps since for the most part I grew up reading Marvel/Epic Groo it was simply an end of an era. After this series concluded Groo would never again have title that registered greater 1/10th of 120 issues. 6) Groo #1 Marvel/Epic - For the Majority of readers their first exposure to Groo. Overall it's probably the most important Groo Book published in terms of creating awareness of the Character even if for me it ranks 6th as a personal choice key. 7) Marvel Age #24 - My favorite Groo cover. On-sale several weeks prior to the first Marvel Groo issue. The book served notice, at least to me as Child, that Groo was coming to Marvel. The most difficult to find book on my list.
  5. All perils of a one-of-a-kind hobby. Not to mention as published goes mostly controlled by egotistical major dealers who have ~9 figures , yes 9, in OA holdings* thus dont care if they make a sale or not. * does not mean liquid for that amount. nor does it mean they would get that amount if any of them dumped more than small amounts into the hobby in a felled swoop. It all similar to how wealth is estimated for say Gates, Musk, Bezos, etc...Simply substitute OA names like Burkey, Moy, Maloof, Snyder, Donnelly, etc
  6. Sell the #1 via an Auction House that will get it CGC graded as part of the service. Authenticated it will yield more and higher bids rather than it appearing "sketchy". Although you want to part with it as a set. IMHO you can do much better selling #1 (after grading) and some of the other early and keys issues as single lots. Parts are worth more than the sum... All above IMHO Edit: See you made the wise choice to have it graded.
  7. Makes sense. based on your comment I've updated my post in case it is really Chris and in case it is not
  8. Is this really Chris Severs' incognito. Hi Chris, I see you are still trying desperately to convince someone anyone that you are not wrong. P.S. if you are not Chris my apologies.
  9. As a kid I loved the series pulling it from quarter bins in the 1980's. Like many books read in my youth, I now finding it lacking but some of the art and covers are excellent. If you are not digitally inclined, pick up Essential Nova and decide if you want to pursue further
  10. Just a riff on the general hyperbole that existed here from spring 2020-early 2022 Or a new memory of $18
  11. So like with anything collectible (or sick six sigma) related no absolutes as outliers will always exist. @beastfeast I consider your comment to be nearly 100% correct.
  12. BUH BUH BUH Sellers/Flippers/Investors/Speculators were stating it had "unlimited upwards trajectory" At this juncture you'd have to pay me $100 to take even a CGC 9.8 copy of the book to justify wasting the space to store it!
  13. Interesting premise. Not sure I totally agree but it does explain a lot of behaviors and actions of those in a bunch of hobbies...
  14. Add Milgrom to that list of names - very little out there of stuff he both penciled and inked. Agreed! A true Groo fan wants a cover image. Pacific #1, Special #1, Marvel Age #24 and Epic/Marvel #1 as the keys/semi-keys go, all display very nicely. Destroyer Duck #1 was one of the books I picked up at my first ever visit to a Comic Book store as Child. At that point the book had been out for 10 months. The shop had a load of them behind the counter and was offering them at 1/2 off.
  15. Probably will be told keep up the good work. As long as Fedex and UPS are public company's, greasy politicians will invest in them and lobby for the USPS to be disbanded thus throwing windfall of epic proportions their way.
  16. Almost like a Mylar w/proper Board should be inside the encapsulation. As long as there is no viable competition it sadly won't get better folks. The sole way to show CGC you truly mean business is to purchase only raw books or CB*S slabs and only submit to C*CS. Which ain't ever going to happen - right?
  17. I see it hit the 0 day wire since end of March. So it's already out there for any "in the know" or with Google , likely as a result of this thread;
