  1. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. -Albert Einstein
  2. Sort of eliminates all need for ANY Grading Service. Total agreement! In 2024 buying CGC slabbed comic/magazine carries significantly greater risk than purchasing raw. To expand on that the same too applies to Trading Cards , Video Games and VHS Tapes (absurd to begin with). CGC's latest message in effect is diametrically opposed to their very business model - go figure!
  3. CGC's (IMHO totally weak) message is purchase from "reputable" dealers. Keep in mind lack of reputable dealers is one of the reasons CGC was formed in the first place. To have their slabs level playing field for buyers and expand the hobby via that trust According to CGC's newest message any dealer who has sold or every might unknowingly sell a tainted or "counterfeited" or tampered slab is not reputable. Which means every Major Comic Seller or Auctioneer like ComicLink, ComicConnect, Worldwide Comics, Doug Sulipa, Victory Comics, Greg Reece, Heritage, etc are not or at some future juncture will not be considered reputable by CGC. If I was any of those entities I'd be rather unhappy with CGC BTW the scammer was considered a reputable dealer by CGC until the scheme unraveled! Therefore purchasing from "reputable dealers" is NOT a solution and not safe and it never ever will be!
  4. @COMICLINK Not that CGC has singled you out but in effect they are officially informing your potential customers that anyone who has sold a tainted book is not reputable. Therefore by transitive property you are not reputable! BTW, it's 2024 now, your not providing back scans by default and higher resolution scans is not helping things... @mycomicshop Same applies to you. Except for the scan part. Actually CGC's message applies to ever seller! It's not exactly a positive your business models @gregreece @HighGradeComics
  5. I do agree with you but my comment about purchasing slabbed carrying greater risk than raw totally applies. Certainly not an endorsement or selling point for any grading company! Myself since scandal hit have suspended any CGC slab purchase above $300, I am contemplating lowering that threshold to $200 shortly. Oh well at least eliminating the slab purchases does boost my Original Art "war chest"
  6. CCG strongly advises prospective buyers to do their research and buy from reputable sources. CGC offers the free Verify CGC Certification tool on its websites to help collectors and dealers verify CGC-certified collectibles. In addition, collectors can use the CGC Dealer Locator to find CGC Authorized Dealers. In effect purchasing a slabbed book now requires significantly more effort & carries greater risk than purchasing raw. So much for one of the main reasons CGC was born in the first place.
  7. IIRC just a tad higher than "run" issues from that year, about $150-175. Those with GPA memberships I'm sure can be more precise.
  8. Perhaps it was done on purpose? Great way to make it seem like you are doing something but too fearful of Discovery Process, etc to actually let a suit progress. In effect it's akin to a retraction, something which few ever know about or remember...
  9. To all who spent $500, $600, $700, $800, $900, $1000-$1500 or more on ASM 210, to quote The Joker HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Prepare to get big-time hosed! I predict a plummeting to under $500 for the newsstand and under $300 for direct sale before year end and then another 10-20% off of that next year. P.S. Ain't saying I told you so, after you were scoffed at, one of life's simple pleasures
  10. Blind squirrel finding a nut territory or a broken clock is correct twice a day. Want mostly accurate graded raw? Then avoid the 5280 feet up folks and try mycomicshop or worldwide comics
  11. ^ or a test/pilot to work things out before roll-out to every category?
  12. Easier is debatable, as they have always done that (remember it's legal in Texas). What extended bidding does is always enable shilling to the maximum as being plausible (not a snowball's chance they don't), as opposed to live "real-time" bidding which by it's very nature had tempering effect on that aspect.
  13. I do wonder how that would play out in front of a Jury? But we'll never know as the defendants actually showing up or responding in any manner is pigs fly territory.
  14. Saddened, but not surprised to see the overall lack of responses on this thread. So many who post here who have and will continue to make money off of Delbo's art can't even be bothered with a simple RIP message. Jose's art brings back many great memories for me of picking up later 70's WW comics in discount bins in the late 80's. May He Rest in Peace.
  15. Eliminating all those pesky live auction bidders who don't show all the cards in advance is yet another way to shill bid to the max.
  16. Very sad and horrible. @NoMan the first 2 words "too bad" of your post, while not your intention, to some may be taken as being non-caring
  17. I don't recall if this thread or another on this forum but in 2021/2022 I mentioned, to those that scoffed at even the very mention of bubble, that history would prove me correct and that I was an "I told you so" person. Well I was not kidding I am one. I will take your comment as a semblance of validation and will limit the "I told you so's" on this thread to 1 per quarter. No need to expect another until at least April and to Groo it up I'll pair it with defining mulching.
  18. Appears my 2022 prediction on DD1 was correct. Regarding Pacific 1, I was wrong as it is actually settling lower than my prediction! Hoard? If a personal thing OK, but from fiscal standpoint does not seem wise. Groo had its "15 minutes" and it ain't getting that again. Something I'm positive Evanier will agree with. New Predictions - if at a bidding auction: - DD1 will end up long haul in the $240-$300 range. - Pacific #1 will settle in the $75-$125 range Yes possibly lower than 2019 FMV on those as interest has waned, supply is plentiful and the true Groo collectors fans left likley all have copies.
  19. <sarcasm> A Comic Store Owner/Dealer would never do anything the least bid shady </sarcasm>
