  1. Stan Lee Signed 9.8w Newsstand ASM300's are for the most discriminating of collectors, not for rabble like myself. IMHO the point of this thread is Direct Sale ASM300's with particular attention to grades below 9.6. Folks who purchased those at bubble highs are seeing big negative ROI's which may only be tip of iceberg. Although certainly not as bad as for those who picked up Eternals #1 at pre-bubble pop prices . Rule of don't buy a book when hot and never ever when red-hot applies.
  2. For a corporation like Blackrock the ONLY thing matters is their bottom line. Make of that what you will
  3. Likely not a one off! Integrity is worthless to Exec's who seek to pad them bonus' before they skedaddle to other firms after the Magical 18-24 months be up.
  4. What about "gocollect" . I read there just yesterday that Eternals 1 - yes Eternals 1 which has sunk like an anchor is undervalued. Link Translation: The writer is stuck with many paid for at or near bubble high copies and wants to relive their salad days by ripping off the same pigeons yet again. The thought process is probably something like this; hmm I paid $2100 last year for a Eternal 1 9.8 and now it's down to $695. If I buy at the dead cat bounce price of $900 surely I cant lose again! We'll Rube/Sucker/Moe Ron, you can lose again, as the population of the book increases and it drops down to $550 then $400 then maybe $250. "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" , I feel zero sympathy for those unable to learn that old and very simple lesson. After gocollect "writers" sucker them twice, the rubes will then get to whine "Buh Buh Buh gocollect said" right before making the same mistake yet again
  5. Now on to the only important question: Did the book have "White Pages"? That is all that counts.
  6. under, under, bidder? 20 years back memories fade
  7. Action 484 cover was on eBay circa 2002. Jon won it for 2600. I was the underbidder. Excellent Garcia-Lopez piece. I shudder to think at how much it would command today
  8. Only the future will determine if a piece is historic.
  9. eBay has proven time and time again they care only about their own bottom line. Down to their employees alleged threatening of anyone who they perceive as even a minor threat to their bottom line. https://www.justice.gov/usao-ma/pr/six-former-ebay-employees-charged-aggressive-cyberstalking-campaign-targeting-natick Market manipulation by Sellers, Speculators, Flippers, and others using eBay is a fact. It rather easy to do, it's probably not illegal in the USA and all who buy collectibles might not want to consider eBay sales numbers as Hoyle. As for private Auction House's - at least one Major/Huge Original Art dealer admitted on this very forum to shilling. Not sure you want your topic to go in that direction so i'll stop here. Reminder I do not and have never sold Comics Books or Magazines in my life. As for the what the future will bring, never say never
  10. The amount of "market manipulation" on eBay sales is staggering. In a bull market it works very well, we are in progress learning how it does in what will be probably be an extended bear market BTW the manipulation from Auction Houses is even worse.
  11. IMHO CGC has been tough on this issue. 6.0 - 7.0 is my guess . Not sure if a C&P will increase the grade.
  12. From the pic's it look as it you have a potential high grade copy (9.6 or 9.8) with a quality C&P however it's difficult to see if the bend on the back break color. If it color is broken then I feel 9.4 with a C&P
  13. Keeping Vane's memory and efforts alive. 2 books i worked out a deal for earlier this year that were originally from Vane's collection. Love the Kubert cover
  14. Good thing I explicitly did not direct any comments towards it then
  15. The high grade, high census population Direct Sales version likley to stagnate for a while. Those who purchased Direct Sales ASM300 at going rate during the bubble height in 2021 will not experience any positive ROI possibly for a decade, especially in grades below 9.6! Those who do NOT buy books at FMV when they are hot of course will always be fine. Those who purchased pre 2020 are still looking pretty good. While it will cool down ASM300 will probably never go cold. This post was in reference to Direct Sale version only. My opinions are not directed at the Newsstand or CPV. 16. I'm shocked your $5 bids failed to net a single win, Shocked I tell you. Agreed on the correction which has occurred on most. #22 is a surprise figured that would be lower. #20 sold for $600 LESS than the last one on Comiclink 3 months ago. Seriously who thought paying $750 for that issue was a good idea #23 good to see that getting love. From a pop-culture standpoint it is the most significant issue in the run. I believe it is the only Bronze Age Comic Book to feature what today are 2 huge film franchises on the same cover. I am a bit biased of course on #23 owning multiple 9.8's included the first one to appear on the census.
  17. To best of my knowledge; To release at a future juncture they will need to repay the write-off plus interest....which means a larger cost for the film.
  18. From an actuarial standpoint the tax-write off represented sounder fiscal ground. Looking into it any deeper is divergent from Warner/Discovery's only actual goal of $$$$. Of course that would make for a boring short thread
  19. If DC is riskier than Marvel or SW and the payoffs are lower then does not seem smart to me, unless initial "investments" are significantly lower. Why accept higher risk for lower ROI, when the same seed money can used much safer with higher ROI?
  20. Never Speculate/GAMBLE on DC! Way too much risk, too little reward. Outliers exist but they are far and away exceptions. Stick with Marvel folks, even if Moon Knight be seriously chillin'
