  1. I've only put purchased 2 Promise books, but from what I've seen, they are not as fresh as Mile Highs or White Mountains. I would say that they're fresher than Crowleys and Northfords—and pretty comparable to Bethlehems, Pennsylvanias, and Ohios. The Promise books got some grade bumps beyond what most pedigree books get, so a 9.2 Promise is not as nice as a 9.2 Ohio, etc.—but the freshness is comparable.
  2. Long matches under the fingernails to short matches under the fingernails.
  3. Parachutist in the air to parachutist on the ground.
  4. I guess it true what they say—"There's no disputing about tastes." To me, that's one of the most boring Pep covers. I'd much rather have a Pep 34.
  5. Two black-and-white mammals with a bird to two black-and-white mammals with a bird.
  6. 1949 and a blonde in a hat to 1949 and a blonde in a helmet.
  7. I've heard of the CBG, but I didn't realize that it was still in print. I've never read a copy.
  8. I haven't gotten around to reading these two, but I like the artwork on the dust jackets. ETA: I'm vehemently against trophy hunting, but I hope to learn something from the books.
  9. 7.5/WHITE horror book from 1954 to 7.5/WHITE horror book from 1954.
  10. Now, if you tell me that you remember when a 7-Up was a candy bar, then I'll know you're old.
  11. 7.0 13 to 8.0 13; Japanese baddies to Japanese baddies.
  12. I haven't been to a movie theater in at least 7 years. People's continuous lighting up of their cell phones ruined that experience for me. Bane was a boring character and would have been no matter who played the role. The Dark Knight Rises would have been completely forgettable if not for Marion Cotillard and the sub-plot involving Talia Al Ghul.
  13. Marion Cotillard as Talia al Ghul and Liam Neeson as Ra's al Ghul might be my top 2. Many of the villains seem too campy on screen.
  14. Frightened woman in yellow dress to frightening woman in yellow dress.
  15. I'm 47, and when I went to a comic auction in person a few years ago, I was one of the youngest bidders. Some guys were around my age; not many were younger. I think @Detroit MIke was there. If he was who I think, then he might have been the only GA bidder there who was younger than I was (judging from his looks; I don't know his actual age).
  16. I wouldn't count on that loophole being around forever.
  17. Growing up around it is never enough. Comic books don't play the same role for today's kids that they did for kids from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. Nothing lasts forever. Comic books had their day in the sun.
