Sigh. Collectors were in a mad rush to sell earlier this year on the heels of all of the record-breaker prices in 2021, but now that prices are softening, everyone's a hoarder. :boo:

I think what we'll see in 2023 is collectors clinging tightly to their nicer books while desperately trying to get rid of their riff raff.

On the plus side, if you collect mid-grade copies of titles that no one else is interested in, you may get some awesome deals in the coming year.

ETA: I am one of those collectors who likes titles that no one else is interested in. Heck, I even like funny animal books! :insane:

I am one of those GA hoarders and won't be sending any into auctions unless I'm forced into a bread line

It was never retroactive. Law was passed in 2021. It went into effect in 2022 with a due date of January 2023 (companies and people have known about this since March 2021.) so this has been 21 months in the making.

Thank you for the correction. Let me correct myself and say that I've only been aware of it earlier this year. At least now I'll be sure to save receipts

It’s not a video but there’s a new podcast  called Stealing Superman that tells the story of Nic Cages stolen comics. 7 episodes.  It wanders a but but digs into the who, why and how of the theft and how the Action 1 resurfaced. Check it out.

thank u! I work at night and get bored and rely on the sound from YouTube comic videos to keep me awake. Can't really get into comic tom as he mostly covers modern.

IAs a young teen, he would steal cc numbers and use them.  When he used to be the CEO of Scoreboard which produces sports cards, he would put redemption cards in packs to be redeemed for a card but people were not able to fulfill the redemption because Scoreboard went out of business, so people were pissed and a lot of people lost $.

He screwed over Kobe Bryant by owing him $10k which he never paid him and the latest one was a police report in a public pool facility when he called out a black employee the N word and went on a temper tantrum about how his son was unable to use the pool.  I dunno if the pools were getting cleaned up or what, but it was an ordeal.

Oh and he is famous for publicly announcing that he has a 9 figure account and he has a 5 acre property on a golf course (it's really only 4 acres but who's counting lol)

WTAF! Why isn't this guy in stir bunking with Bubba. what a scummer

Some of the prices paid the first time around were ridiculous. I laughed out loud when I saw that someone had paid $21,000 for a copy of Saddle Justice #6. I actually laughed so hard that I had to wipe the tears from my eyes just now.

When I look on Heritage, though, it lists the book as "Not Sold," so I guess the buyer backed out.

I am proud and happy to say I never once succumbed to the promise hype and have zero examples in my possession. Yes and the majority are nice examples, but I'd take a mile high or Billy Wright any day of the week before I bought one of these embellished funny books

Pehaps the OP is inquiring whether there is reason to doubt that it is an original staple, i.e., vintage GA staple?  If so,

yes, I'm questioning if the staple was replaced because it pretty messy IMO.  Also advertised as an 8 and now I'm questioning that with this staple issue.

Came across this copy of Superworld Comics #1 selling in the auction. I've never heard of this title before, but per the description one of the earliest sci-fi comics so that's interesting. To be honest though, not a big fan of the cover art. Not really doing it for me for some reason.

Really. Middle aged White Guys who presumably are suburban middle class are historically not going to face as much legal consequences for theft as a decidedly non-White guy. This is simply factual and long established and is, I believe, the point of the comment you're responding incredulously to.

Well my dear CGC cuddle buddy! Oddly enough I happen to have the solution to the grave disparity of injustice served upon the racially suppressed......STOP F"N STEALING...That is all
