  4. Stimulus cheques of up to 2K per month were flying out for up to 8 months here, and only recently stopped last month. A new stimulus program started this month with cheques of up to 2K per month...you can also earn up to $1K per month and still qualify for the second round of stimulus. perhaps the stoppage of stimulus funding is a regional thing, but the Canadian government is doling out hundreds of Billions to us. I assure you that I have sold numerous books to folks on this message board who have paid/will continue to pay me in monthly instalments just as soon as they receive their stimulus cheques.
  5. And to think the entire storyline was plotted in a car dive in California!
  6. Here’s a few reasons why the book has taken off recently: Venom is: 1. Linked to Carnage, which adds to demand for ASM 300 given the upcoming movie (yes, a lot of people are taking about it in anticipation of a better movie than the first one) 2. It’s been over 30 years since this book has was published and folks are realizing, perhaps collectively, that there isn’t a more significant or popular character created in comics during this time 3. It had already plateaus/lulled in price for the better part of a year prior to its current run up 4. Believe me when I say that a lot of people with government stimulus money are using those funds to purchase comics now that they couldn’t afford previously without the stimulus money. They are also saving money by working from home and have more disposable income to spend on whatever they want. Think decreased consumption/prices for gas, insurance, parking, public transit, etc 5. Movie speculation - in general 6. Venomverse- the expansion of Venom’s backstory, including origin, homeplanet, supporting characters over the past few years has been a big hit for Marvel and leads people back to ASM 300 7.” A rising tide lifts all boats” - in general, back issue keys have been on the rise since March. ASM 300 is one of the books benefitting from the tide feel free to add anything I may have missed.
  7. thanks for posting this chart! I compared it against the chart posted in the asm 300 appreciation thread from 2014, back when only 8.3K copies of ASM 300 were graded. its interesting to note that there was 10 copies in 9.9 back then, and there’s still only 10 copies in 9.9 today! So out of the additional 15K copies slabbed since 2014, 9.8 has been the highest grade awarded, which is very challenging for me to believe.
  8. Joey, I was the 2nd underbidder on the $7K copy. I bid aggressively at $6903 because there are so few copies in this grade signed by Stan, Todd and David. Sure, Stan has signed a bunch of ASM 300’s and so has Todd, but getting all three sigs in 9.8 ain’t easy. Hence the premium.
  9. Big sale for a cgc 9.4 blue label direct with white pages: $1350! Sure, it’s an outlier...until it isn’t?
  10. Thanks for clarifying...that’s not the way your previous post read.
  11. We have seen dozens more copies of this book available this past week than the previous several weeks. The sales results will let us know if its time to plateau, and if so, then I think you’ll see a lot less copies available. So perhaps prices will take a breather for a bit, but I don’t think they’ll decrease now...too much stimulus money in the economy. just a quick look at the recent sales shows many copies have sold in the past few days. the ones that haven’t sold are those with ridiculous BINS.
  12. Um, if that’s how you feel, then Atomic Mouse #1 should be worth much more than AF15
  13. And this doesn’t even account for the rabid fanatics who want more than one copy for their collection!
  14. Oh, I wish I had the funds for it. It’s a fanboy’s dream!
  15. Thank you! One less person I have to bid against. Now, how do I persuade the rest of you potential buyers to become disinterested in this book? 😆😆😆
  16. I think it will...until it won’t, and prices will rise again. we’ve seen similar spike and plateau cycles with several books, notably Hulk 181. Since it seems to be the general consensus that ASM 300 is the Copper Age equivalent to Hulk 181 for the Bronze Age, I expect similar pricing patterns to emerge over the next several years. We just happen to be in the midst of a very sharp spike in price at the moment, which was preceded by a long plateau (even a slight price decrease) before the book started it’s ascent.
  17. The point of this thread is to discuss how much this book has been/continues to heat up. This book has seen its value rise by 2.5x in most grades over the past 7 months. given current demand and price strikes, I think you’d do pretty well for yourself if you purchased a copy in August and decided to sell it now.
  18. Last week, the average price for a blue/direct/white pgs cgc 9.6 was $1.4K, and a 9.8 was just under $4K. what a difference a week makes! The 9.6’s are now established at a whisker over $1.6K (15% increase), and I think it’s safe to say that the 9.8’s have seen the same % increase. And since all boats rise with the tide, we’re seeing 9.4’s flirting with $1K and 9.2’s at $700
  19. Actually, the $7025 sale is not a new high for this book. A 9.8 with the same three signatories sold earlier this year for $7.8K back in April, you could have had this book for $3K
  20. Younger than 50...30-somethings. I'd like to hear more about the next generation of collectors.
  21. I bid a few times on this particular book and lost. My bid of $6903 placed me as the 2nd runner up 😳
  22. That’s true. But what’s not funny is the spike in prices for raw copies. And what’s even less funny is that the majority of seller won’t put a grade on their books, hoping to cash in on buyer’s hopes that ‘high grade’ or ‘very high grade’ is enough to entice them.
  23. So when you sell a share of a stock, you don’t pay capital gains tax?
