You just have to inquire they'll send you a price. Their current value tends to be just a bit higher than one would expect.
Hey yo , thanks for the advice, I'll send them an email

Hi all,
Anyone know what this sold for?
I'm not very good with the search function on here so humble apologies if this has been discussed previously.
I only found out literally just then Ian was selling his collection.....by reading some old stuff about the late Phil Levine.....who was talking about the rarest DC giveaway book ....the someone mentioned " cue Ian Levine".......then his name rang a bell......googled it and then saw the news about his collection going for auction 2020!

August 15 2022 just saw this listed on coollines art.
Wow!!
As coollines doesn't list prices , what would be current value of this ?
It's great Buckler art

Will definitely be interesting to see final prices with the current US economic downturn and talk of possible recession.
Some stellar grail level pieces up for grabs again .....the 8000 lb heritage gorilla !

You are not disappointing me in any way. I have a solid track track record calculated risk. My background in finance so I constantly analyze trend analysis, risk mitigation, and opportunity cost.
People say “buy what you love”. This is true if you are content with no exit strategy. For those who want to both love what they have and have a viable exit strategy if needed, this is not the best advice. These need not be mutually exclusive. If you want to be able to get out in an emergency, buy what you and others widely love or will love later on.
I have seen people talk about their selling their collection down the road with the current collector market in mind. If you think you are selling in 20 years to this collector group, you may want to rethink your strategy. A wise collector considers who is buying in their sales timeframe. If one thinks they may exit in 20 years, they should think through the pieces and characters who are relevant to that generational collecting group.
This is where a collector like Thom Fish was WAY ahead of the curve in his early buying.
Again, I love the art I own and have personal attachment, but I can acknowledge there may be a day when other priorities in life may constitute a need or desire to sell pieces from my collection. That’s just reality for most of us.
What was Thom FIsh buying way before the curve?

Couldn’t agree more with @grapeape I moved my chips “all in” on OA. I work in the financial industry and art is the asset class that continues to be at the forefront of conversations about where to place equity right now. Traditionally the conversation has been grounded in classic art, but over the past few years, original comic art has been regularly discussed. Comics are the bleeding edge of pop culture and have continued to lead our entertainment spending when extrapolated into film and media. Original comic art is the highest collectible class in this genre.
Now speaking as a straight fanboy, what other hobby has this much connection between the creator and end user? I love interacting with artists along my collecting journey. When I was engaged with comics, the artists felt so distant and elevated, but now I am daily messaging artists about their work, several of who have become friends. Best. Hobby. Ever.
Interesting comments.....I'm reminded of Mr Glass in the movie unbreakable educating the father looking to buy a birthday present for his son in Mr glass' OA gallery that comic OA is not a child's toy but a serious important art form😃
-
Love that scene in Mr Glass's art gallery of Comic OA where the customer comes in trying to buy a birthday present for his son and when Mr Glass finds out gets extremely insulted, cancels the sale and throws the customer out for treating comic OA like a kids toy😄

Sold in 2020 for 7800, same issue pages since then have sold on HA for 10-15k... would seem a good lock for 15k+. The top half of that page is wonderful Hulk art and I'm not even a traditional Trimpe fan!
Thanks KC, wow $10- 15 K for a trimpe page..... 2013 and 24 K won that classic trimpe Hulk glob cover , I was under order on that☹️
I think the Baptiste thing is over hyped but do agree they are classic large trimpe Hulk images👍

Really? Which comics has he foreworded?
Has he written any comic book stories/ series?

I'm confused. So you just wanted to know what it was worth, but you don't own it? Were you looking to make an offer to Mike for it? Or do you have a comp piece you are trying to price?
Was trying to get an idea on market value for the hulk 180 page upcoming in the heritage September auction featuring the first appearance of George Baptiste who becomes wendigo.....see the link I posted earlier in the thread

I realize that we cannot keep track of artwork prices for all artists, but the $150K offer for Burkey’s Hulk cover seems to be well within reason, considering the last time a Trimpe Hulk cover from this era sold publicly for $45K back in 2015.
QFT!
$175k is realistically possible given it's the first appearance of an important character in the hulk mythos
-
I'd love for these crazy high prices to fall by 50% or more then I'd actually be in with a shot at acquiring some OA to keep and not flip
-
Classic trimpe Hulk ! 🙂
For many, THE hulk artist.
$50k? Gee that seems like a rather low estimate in today's market imo
-
-
i have a scan of the OA in the body of an email but am really tech illiterate...............sorry i dont know how to post it
also, its NFS was just curious re value with the Heritage auction in sept and the hulk 180 page featured with the 1st app. of the guy who becomes wendigo
-
Hi everybody
Approximately what price do you think this may bring today!
1st wendigo

I was there last month. A big store with long lines of buyers buying comic related stuff when I was there, but no back issues. Really more of a book store with comics and toys.
Has this become the norm for most comic shops in the last decade? Do many comic shops in the USA still have a good selection of back issues? I'm from Australia and the ones I used to patronise really only carried new issues, graphic novels and more other comic related product like toys etc.....and this was the case since the early 90's☹️
The Ian Levine collection Sotheby's auction, ? Sale price
in Comics General
Posted
Interesting post from Levine.
I wonder if Sotheby's actually sold the collection?
If it wasn't CGC graded that would have made it a far more difficult sale imo. The cost to CGC that collection would have been ? Over one millon $?
Imo a really tough collection to sell in its entirety for what Levine may have felt it was worth, as he already alluded to selling it " for afraction of what it was worth" to John barton
