  1. Never seen that cover before, it is a very cool book. Your story is a perfect example of what can happen if you send a book for signing and encapsulation. Once the book leaves your possession it is at risk to a wide variety of threats. Sorry it happened.
  2. An interesting point, as everyone seems to be assuming it is in addition to.
  3. example of "The Pinnacle Hill Collection" sticker
  4. 1.0 One benefit to having the book cleaned + pressed + CGC encapsulated is it helps to sell it. I had a similar copy ungraded that sat on my show wall for years but once it was graded it sold at the very first show it was displayed at.
  5. first book is in slightly better condition. Regardless I would return it and then never deal with that person again as who wants to deal with a seller who will intentionally swap books?
  6. Ok, but there are many others. I am hoping the rumor is false.
  7. I wasn't thinking this, until I have heard of extensive reshoots required by Marvel to add "humor" as they felt the film had too strong of a serious overtone. This is unfortunate. https://www.giantfreakinrobot.com/ent/ant-man-3-reshoots-ruin-franchise.html
  8. I agree, and if I add that visually I think the first Avatar was better as the Navi were rendered in a superior fashion in the first film, is why I can't give The Way of Water any more than a 6/10. A comparison: angle of nose has changed, narrower head shape and the eyes just do not capture emotion like it did 13 years ago.
  9. I am sure there would be enough of a demand for this service though so I wonder why they don't have a case manufactured to encapsulate treasuries?
  10. For me it isn't superhero fatigue I call it apathy, because I still want to see well made films with my favorite characters. That said I definitely have fatigue for very average films ( or worse ). I am just very patiently waiting for both Marvel and DC to look at the films they have already made and see for themselves the ones of quality and to make more of that. Unfortunately I have extremely low expectations because of all the recent decisions and films they have released in the last year.
  11. There are a few small spine ticks, and the bottom of the spine keep this out of the very high grades. You might get this to a 9.6 with a press.
  12. Yes i get that glare sometimes. Why it happens on one book but not another I have not been able to figure out. Some solutions: 1. Place a white card/piece of paper over your slab helps sometimes. It needs to be a piece of card or paper that is large enough to cover the entire scan area. 2. Turn the slab in the scanner. It depends on where you are getting the glare. I get the glare sometimes at the top of the book in the scan or at the bottom. 3. Sometimes I change the position of the slab on the scan surface such as move the slab to the bottom of the scanning area then use the program or a graphics program to crop it. 4. A painful way i have dealt with that issue is to scan the book twice, flipping it and then using a graphics program to piece the scans together. I don't recommend this method unless you are adept at using the graphics program as you will have to use image rotation to get the scans to line up and also may need to adjust color hue. My HP is an older version a HP 7400C but works fine with the Vuescan program. Example of the glare:
  13. I started by buying the books I liked, then the next thing you know I had over 40 of them and decided I may as well get them all.
  14. Yes, the Toledo pedigree was removed from there list but then why did my book get the pedigree designation? I am thrilled that it did.
  15. Just discovered this thread. I love Gladiator, an absolutely amazing film and I have to side with those who don't want a Gladiator 2. I don't because I have no faith in Hollywood to create something worthy. An example of another film that should never have been remade is Ben-Hur. I love the original, but the remake was awful and I think whatever they make for Gladiator 2 will follow the same tired formula.
  16. My Planet #22 is the Toledo copy and when I purchased it the book was cracked from it's slab but the CGC label was kept in the mylar. I sent it in to be encapsulated knowing it would lose the pedigree designation so I kept the old CGC label and then when it came back it had the pedigree. So it makes me wonder: are they recognizing Toledo or not?
