  1. Flower City Con, huh? I could not pull it off, but cool items.
  2. Or Mr. Jackman suddenly and tragically passes away and the collectibles market clamors for anything of the freshly deceased actor and you can get the amount of a new mid-sized vehicle for it. I.E: Black Panther.
  3. 1.23 is more like it. What about the collectors who are like "I am going to do something no one has thought about doing and getting a DC book signed!". There are more of them than you think. You can buy this on eBay for a tad more than $25,000.
  4. My collection is pretty much 75% yellow and love the yellow, but even I find large books signed by actors a large turnoff. AF15 signed by Tom Holland? Ugh. Even Hulk 181 signed by Jackman would make me cringe. I also cringe a tad when someone asks "how much will A be worth if B signs it?" as this has been further implored most recently with Roy Thomas. When I get a book signed, I always get a book that isn't a big dollar book and I always think of it as not an investment, but hoping when the time comes to sell, the item doesn't lose all of it's value. This is especially important as prices on these signers are going through the roof and every actor is north of two hundred now. I buy a lot of yellow and have no idea how someone can come up with a ratio of 1.35 as every signature and book is a unique situation.
  5. AOS only had 30 slots available, 2 max (without noting a price) and of course it sold out. Hard to believe JR would be willing to sign thousands and thousands of books. I am not expecting this to happen, but hope I am wrong. OP just announced Sebastian Stan. Will CGC have him? I kind of need him.
  6. You can send to Adams and have him CGC the books says his site.
  7. I commented early on in this thread and while I said I wanted "celebrities", would like to change that to "affordable celebrities". My list on the two surviving members haven't changed in Joe Giella and John Romita, but creators I need include Megan Hutchison and I missed the Adam Kubert and Ben Pearcy signing, so for me, do another, please.
  8. It has never really been loophole free. When I wait in the witness line, on a half dozen occasions when the witness takes a group to the first signer. Those in line get them while the others wait. They proceed to the second signer while others wait. And so on. When I got my books done, I put the books in my bag (I asked first and the witness said it was okay) and we proceeded to next signer. We are then waiting again in a line for paperwork. I could have so easily cheated the system by adding fake signed books to my pile. This wasn't the case on a few occasions when the convention was slow and was one on one with the witness, but there can be some dishonesty in the process. Just saying.
  9. Regie made a video on it yesterday and while I make no excuses for an authenticating firm making errors (it's going to happen), the forger chose a simple signature to forge and one that has little true value. The authenticator probably assumed it's authentic because why would someone forge her signature. Would have liked to have seen him try it with an artist like Jack Kirby, but this was all just foolish IMO. Back in 2007, Sal Bando, a low dollar baseball celebrity was at a card show and someone forged his signature and got JSA to authenticate and that made headlines. While I do buy this companies yellow slabs, I completely prefer (and my collection is 90%) CGC. And you wonder why there is light outrage on this board for people who want CGC to authenticate unverified signatures. This is why.
  10. I believe there was a thread once where collectors shared their favorite sketch covers. I am a fan of Ron C.'s collection. He needs to sell me a Sanders.
  11. It will add some value to the book, but since it's on the splash page, if encapsulated, it can't be displayed. That's where the artists and creators always signed back then. If you send it to CGC, it will get a blue label with words "Stan Lee written on first page". They do not authenticate signatures. If you send it to the slabbing competitor, you will get a yellow label if they deem the signature authentic. As far as value, not sure the condition of the books, but 1-10 signed, wow.
  12. A fellow collector I have known 30 years is always questioning why I get books signed and why I prefer slabbed comic sketch covers (over framing art) and it kind of annoys the hell out of me to be honest with you. Sadly I don't share with him anymore my purchases because it's like the movie Groundhog Day. He collects things I don't understand (cap gun boxes?) and I never question him. If you are about to start a sentence "I don't understand why...", just stop. We all collect different things in different ways. These collectibles bring us joy. That's why we collect and a collector should never question another's person collecting habits or try to bring his purchase down with a negative opinion, which happens a lot on Facebook OA Groups, not here. My two cents...
  13. That Pulp Fiction piece is awesome! Punisher...who really cares. Congratulations!
  14. Was about to say same thing. Looks like a dude in a suit at K-Mart signed it in character. When I was a kid, got some stuff signed by Wolverine.
  15. For some reason, there are two threads advertising this show and if you scroll down this forum category, you will see my report on this show.
  16. I will report. I got there when it opened. 19 dealers, all comics (one guy had toys as well) and just an endless room of long boxes and some incredible high priced books that Dave and Adam's and Retro brought. There was an AF15 in the room. Busy throughout and while I expected to stay a short while, I spent four hours there and went happily broke. Talked to a handful of dealers after and they were all pleased and hopefully they will return and more at the next show scheduled for November 13th. I only drove five minutes for this show but well worth a longer haul. Very organized and well run show and can't wait for the next one. Great work to the group who put this together!
  17. I am not sure how much that site is updated as it seems like it has not been updated in ten years. I went to Startiger to see how much fan mail success there is and doesn't appear he is signing his fan mail as no one has been able to get anything back from him.
  18. I take it CGC wasn't set up. So.you were able to locate a facilitator so you can continue to get that yellow label?
  19. What convention has 10+ Star Wars guys in the future? Doubt CGC will be present the way their focus is on other matters. Then you would need to hook up with a CGC witness that was present. You can save 5 bucks cracking it out yourself at the booth if they are present. Not sure of value, but I never paid for express grading and usually around 40 bucks if it fits the correct tier. Witness may have up charges as well.
  20. Pros like Heritage? Way behind there I hear. I was stunned how long my last CL purchase took. Wrote them after 20 days and four days later, they sent it.
