CGC is getting dangerously close to 'Rebranding Territory'.

The business acumen of their competitors is also playing a part in how bad/worse the situation could get. Investing every penny they can squeeze into their marketing budget could give CGC a Tyson-sized black eye. The situation is ripe for a massive marketing push that could swing things to their advantage in a way that their current method of attrition-based branding philosophy just hasn't worked. The competitions position in the market right now is an Ad Agency's wet dream - but from what I have seen since it's inception, I don't think they have the horsepower or foresight to take advantage.

the only thing keeping me from using cbcs is their customer support. id rather give my business to egs before i hand over books to cbcs

"an issue"?  Like singular?  Have you not been paying attention the last few years?  The way the thread below has blown up in the last few years was enough to put into question CGC's quality.

Then there was acetategate and the complete fumbling of how that was handled.

And of course the most recent one being the issue with the slabs.  I'm sure I'm missing some in between, but the last 3 years has been disastrous as far as degrading trust in the product/brand.  This current incident isn't anything new, it's just the latest in a string of issues.

dont forgot about the "invisible" bad idea comics.

While I agree there are always going to be people inside and outside the business that will try to scam the system.

Clearly there is a breakdown or lack of security follow ups on employees that sell books.  Now while they may have gotten permission to sell books it is obvious that what they are selling is not checked by the company.  I'm assuming that going forward that will not be the case because frankly these two employees are ruining CGC's business reputation on integrity.

For me I've had issue with "Consultants" who come in and grade and also sell books.

their whole process start to finish is in question, not just policing employees selling on the side.

So nothing to add other than insulting a minor grammar oopsie? You need friends.

correcting someone is not an insult. I also provided an opinion based on your post. cgc will be fine as long as speculators are falling for spider-boy 7's all day long. And, I have friends, aquiantences and family thank you.

  5. I am considering buying collectible insurance for my comics. Certain aspects of my collection are getting valuable and just in case something bad happens i dont want it to be a total loss.

What advise can any of you provide for someone new to the process?

questions off the top of my head:

    any recommended companies?

do you insure your whole collection or just certain books?

    how do you assign value?

how do you keep up with value?

    thanks

I have 2 or 3 of the trade dress ordered before FOC and also 3 of the virgin covers from Forbidden Planet. Cant wait to get them. Such a great cover. Hughes has been on fire recently.

third print has a nicer trade dress than the 1st print. putting the barcode on the right side of AH's art was just a terrible choice. i wish more publishers would put it on the back cover.

I'm not sure how hard it will be to get the other version if people know which retailers got what. There are quite a few online retailers who are part of Bad Idea now, and there are also retailers who list on eBay at cover. So, there are opportunities to get the other copy.

im not putting that much effort into it. ive bought all the books so far and frankly im wore out from all the games and schemes and rules, buttons and stickers. first they force scarcity now i need to buy a second book to get the whole story. nah, im good.

Yeah. Cover is the same but the insides are different. The final five sticker is probably just so you can redeem it for the other copy.

that would be a bad idea considering not everyone got a sticker.......living up to their name.

are you specing on the title or just liked the cover? my lcs has a 9.8 virgin non-metal cover and i cant justify pulling the trigger on it at 150$

also, comic sketch art are good guys if you have never used them before.
