  1. Guaranteed to get thousands of views on CAF . . . * * It's NOT called a joke.
  2. Totally agree, Brian, a good cover design should be intriguing . . . wanting you to read the story behind it Superheroes standing round, not doing much . . . doesn't do much for me. Yeah, I get that they make nice display pieces for art collectors of . . . superheroes standing around, not doing much.
  3. I purchased some artwork from Conrad, from over here in the UK, quite a while back . . . a Ditko ASM page, a Kirby/Sinnott FF page and a complete book of pre-code Horror. I always regarded him as a straight-shooter, totally honest and reliable, responding quickly to my enquiries and his art offerings seemed reasonably priced. Sorry to hear of his passing . . . I always regarded him as one of the good guys amongst dealers.
  4. Well, I actually managed to find sufficient amounts of Vallejo airbrush colours in my paint-box to complete the paint-job of my working copy of The Cyclops from 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD (1959), measuring 15" tall and cast in resin. It's a waterline version, as old one-eye wades into the sea to chase after Sinbad and his motley crew in an early sequence from the movie. I've also now decided to re-do the two arms as I wasn't quite happy with my first attempt (see photos in which I'm holding the revised arms against the main body). Also included in my photo selection are a shot of the resin-cast body. I should have the revised Cyclops, with new-improved arms, finished-off sometime next month, Currently, I'm on to a new Harryhausen project . . .
  5. There's a great EC book, ASM, Avengers and Fantastic Four. Basically, the Marvel series are like reading oversized comic-books (in look and feel) , complete with all house-ads. Absolutely wonderful stuff that I'd highly recommend!
  6. I ordered mine directly from the publisher and received it well within a week. Taschen are showing this as available. I try to order things like this directly from the people who produce it, unless I see a better price elsewhere (and with the Frazetta book, I didn't). Looks like you've had an agonizing wait for nothing on Amazon, Mitch, and there's no excuse for them failing to supply what they've offered . . .
  7. Well, unless you actually post the art here that you're looking to trade, it's difficult to say if what you're looking to offer is worthwhile. And, yeah, I get that you like your privacy but if you want some informed opinions you need to bite the bullet and show what you got. No dealer I know of is going to trade you like for like. That might work with other collectors, but dealers work on profit and your proposal needs to be worth pursuing . . . in their favor.
  8. Is that because you liked the art enough to want to keep it, or because it's worth a lot more nowadays than what you're likely to have sold it for?
  9. Well, it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg . . .
  10. Just a gentle heads-up . . . you're posting in the wrong forum, should be in the marketplace.
  11. Didn't do too badly, considering the level of competition . . . all genuine votes . . . and none of that voting for yourself hogwash. My two best entries: BANK HOLIDAY (1938) Movie Poster painting, artist unknown - 17 votes HEFF HAWKE 'Survival' (1960) title strip by Sydney Jordan and Colin Andrew - 12 votes
  12. Kinda surprised that I'm the only one here who has actually listed the stuff I voted for (none of my own, I hasten to add . . . I play fair)? What did others vote for . . . I'm curious . . . let's compare notes? Don't be shy . . . even if your own art features heavily in what made the 'final cut' in your own voting choices that guarantees you at least five votes!. . .
  13. God. . . isn't that Dog spelled backwards?
  14. I'm now waiting for someone to try and justify shilling their own auctions!
  15. Today's (penultimate) selection . . . Non-comic covers, illustrations, etc.
  16. Another one for Brian and Bill to police? Armando Huerta - Padme's Force (Adult/Nudity/18+), in P4INTKILLR .'s Pin-up - Armando Huerta (Adult/Nudity/18+) Comic Art Gallery Room (comicartfans.com) I'm certainly no prude, but I don't think porno 'art' has any place in this competition.
