I've bought and traded art with most of the major dealers over the years (been doing this since 1982, so not exactly a newbie) and my last biggie (a $15K all-cash purchase) was with Bechara (Mr. Moustache to you, lol) a few years ago . . . pretty much along the lines you cite . . . he wanted to sell a page, I wanted to buy that page and we made a deal. Bechara was prompt and polite throughout all our communications . . . and as for good customer services, his art package from the USA to the UK arrived in two days. Fastest international shipping I've ever experienced. Can't speak for the experience of others but, for me, no problems whatsoever with Mr. Moustache. And as for alleged statement from Bechara that he, "never raises prices on things he had bought" . . . well, if that's true, it's a business model I've never ever encountered before. If he said such a thing (not calling anyone a liar), was it a tongue-in-cheek comment delivered with the wink of an eye? Too ridiculous to take seriously . . . if coming from a dealer! Dealers are notoriously mercenary, in their day-to-day dealings with mere mortals, and are not practicing philanthropists!! Just my

If Zeck's open to commissions, might be a (much) cheaper option asking the artist to do another re-do. -
Up until some years ago, I wasn't really a fan of cover recreations . . . then I came across Bruce McCorkindale's re-dos and thought they were, in most cases, spot-on. A lot of the re-do covers I'd seen by the original artists trying to recreate past glories didn't quite do it for me as, sadly, time and health had taken its toll on abilities. Added to that, attempts at lettering (by artists with no lettering skills) could often have a detrimental effect. Bruce would incorporate print-outs of the logo and caption boxes in his recreations . . . tightening up detail where required. Prices were very reasonably affordable, though I doubt if there's any money to be made in re-sale. I didn't buy them for that. A lot of the Marvel silver age covers I asked Bruce to recreate are unlikely to exist . . . and even if they did, would be out of reach of most pockets. Here are some examples. In the case of the three ASM covers shown here, I asked Bruce to use an inner splash page transposed to a cover image:

Work-in-progress on my latest sculpture . . . a 17" tall bust of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (1925). Should have him finished during the course of next week, then delivery to Killer Kits/Creature Features UK for him to be cast as a resin kit for collectors. -
In a filing cabinet drawer.

First comic-book appearance of Ben Franklin!
-
Talking of which, and trying to get back on topic . . . Does this qualify as an historic first comic-book appearance of BF? Picture Stories from American History # 2, EC Comics (1946). I own the complete book of art . . . with lots of other potential first appearances! Feel free to PM me with outlandish offers!

Had 'Race' stayed on topic, I'd have been fine with his posts. It was the personal attacks on Marcus, which were totally uncalled for, I didn't like. Problem with some anonymous posters is that they seem to feel they can say what they like, without any accountability. I find that cowardly behaviour. If you want to be controversial, you should at least have the courage of your convictions to properly identify yourself.

I was thinking more about his personal attacks on Marcus Wai, the other stuff I can live with.

I like Marcus's comments. He seems like a good guy.
