  1. I feel like I read 17,000 somewhere, but that might be b.s.
  2. Does that include the 1st marvel series? It seems like not much has gone on with those except a few obvious books. The filler stuff in between is just that. Lots of characters were introduced, but most seem unlikely to be used again.
  3. The original is well over $50 now. For a change it was a good idea to hold when the book popped years ago to $10-$15. I felt it had more potential and decided to age it a bit.
  4. I understand that there is TV buzz (and has been for a while), but I find it fascinating that this book is approaching WD #1 levels for a #1 and WD was a frigging pop culture phenomenon.
  5. ok, I'll trust your judgment, give me whatever you think is appropriate
  6. The one with the deadpool card has double digit $ sales, which confuses me, because i see a fair number listed for single $ digits. The cable card one seems to sell for $3-$5. I believe I have only bought the one with deadpool when i see it. Theoretically this is the 2d deadpool appearance, although not really, as issue #2 is his second appearance in an actual story
  7. A couple of inexpensive slabs (the 7.0 looks a lot better):
  8. I picked these up because this is a title I might start reading....
  9. Makes sense. What is the chance these are one day $100 sets? I should be happy they seem to have gone up 300-450% in a month.
  10. Are these worth keeping now that they are in this range (yes, these are high sales) given that I bought the sets for $10 a piece a month ago ... I don't know star wars books, i figured at $2 a pop they were a no lose proposition as my teenager likes star wars comics (especially the dark horse stuff) ... does anyone know if any of them may touch on any of the 15,000 projects they have in the works?: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-Tales-Of-The-Jedi-The-Fall-Of-The-Sith-Empire-1-5-Set-MINT-Dark-Horse/264983230687?hash=item3db23b38df:g:MTsAAOSwE8dfp2fH https://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-Tales-Of-The-Jedi-Dark-Lords-Of-The-Sith-1-6-Complete-Set-Dark-Horse/174575166993?hash=item28a57da611:g:uQ0AAOSw4aZf6iNk
  11. This wasn't being sold with a grade, but it looked nice, bid on a bunch of stuff from this guy (I suspect some of you did too as I only won one auction) and the book in person is in line with the pic. Very nice. Yeah, I was shooting for the true horror books he had up, but this is still pretty cool:
  12. Isis #1 VF/NM Asking $10 The Shadow #1 NM- / NM Asking $25 ($100 in the guide) DC Super-Stars #17 Fine Asking $30 (1st Huntress) I don't need another copy of Shadow 1, but..... (if anybody sees this thread and wants it I am fine giving it up...) and any free stuff you want to give me...
  13. Image should have a rule, no new book gets a release unless they already have 12 issues in the can ready to go.
  14. I see, you'd need to sell the JIM 83 as well to even be able to get a 1.5 - 2.0 of AF 15. Those other three would only get you a .5 - 1.0 copy. I feel amazingly dumb not getting a 2.0-2.5 copy for $500 back in 1994 or so when offered at a show, although i have no way of knowing now if it was a PLOD.
  15. I can't blame the shops. I was in Midtown's downtown (near Wall Street) location at about 2:30 p.m monday and I was one of two customers in this HUGE space with 2 or 3 employees. Last shop i was in before then (more like 5 pm on a friday or saturday) for 30 minutes and 2 other customers popped in. Many got hammered with shutdowns for months they are recovering from. If we're going to attack them for making new books $10-$15, they're barely enjoying the upside. Their upside in ordering an extra 100 copies is a whopping $200 in profit and some variants. If it is a mistake they are down $100-$200 depending on how they can clean out overstock. Just not a ton of upside for the shop that does not profiteer. With that said, I understand, Star Wars is "different"... there's reason to just keep that overstock and wait for it to sell at cover.
  16. What is the purpose of your collection? Is this where you stick some of your money rather than other investment vehicles? Do you enjoy comics? Are you looking for potential $ return? Liquidity? SM 300 9.8 , FF 48 5.5 , Iron Man 55 9.0 ... if you could turn those three into an AF 15 I would. I'd try to keep the JIM 83, although it is kind of low grade. The FF 48 in 5.5 is a very common and overpriced book (it is a great book, but the current prices make no sense. I can't speak for the other two in terms of how easy they are in those grades.
  17. Blade's 1st appearance was already worth a ton? This will be what, the 4th Blade movie??? And there was already a Blade TV show!
  18. the article I read said he is involved, but that could be very loosely one problem may be no Jedis being in the cast of characters. (Rogue One was a fine movie, but the blind monk should have at least been a former padawan or something, maybe one blinded as a child)
  19. yeah, but when might this actually come out? 2024? Is it going to 12 episodes or are they planning years like Clone Wars and Rebels? Other than Yoda, it seems that a storyline with all new characters is no guaranteed winner. True, Rebels was almost that as well as it took a while for Leah to appear and such and then we started seeing characters we knew from Clone Wars. Star Wars Resistance does not seem to have built the same following, but maybe it will now. Neither of my kids seem to be watching it, and they are addicted to the other two.
  20. so marvel accidentally created some hype through perceived scarcity
  21. Does Marvel care if thy wind up selling their 300-400k total copies through second and third prints and what not? With new covers the stigma of later printings has now been greatly diminished. (OK, yes, it's cheaper to do it up front with a big print run). But, honestly, do you think another 25K copies of each cover wouldn't be pushing down back issue prices? I understand star wars is a whole different dynamic, but OTOH, once they're outside of their initial few issues, it's not like all these star wars fans are buying tons of comics. sales numbers have been pretty ho-hum. batman three jokers sold a ton and all the regular issues are now pretty worthless.
  22. I've got all those books that came out in that era where all those Image 1s were popping hoping for the next Walking Dead show, I sold anything (mostly) that was worth anything when it was worth something, other than a few Chews I still have, and sucked up the overorders out of the cheap boxes. I honestly think that may bounce back (and given you can't get a 9.8 for under several hundred $, I think the market is thinking the same thing ... #2 can get snagged affordably ($60 last sale) ... I remember selling a raw copy for $75! ... But Chew is different as the book went strong for years, had a legit following, etc... they just need to figure out how to make it make sense on screen.. the guy who plays Harold is the obvious choice for him, but he may be too expensive) .. It was a fun period... my wife actually didn't complain about me hitting up every local shop in the area when we were driving around because, frankly, what was going crazy on ebay was not necessarily selling out in these shops.
