  1. Sometimes I want to think on it. The other day a different offer came in $15 higher as I was in the middle of a series of offers and counters so that was that.
  2. EBay says you have 24 or whatever hours to respond, but you retract offers because you think it should be quicker? That's your choice, but it doesn't seem reasonable. Not everyone is constantly checking ebay.
  3. 10% or so between ebay and PayPal do not seem like that much. I suppose if you are laying out hundreds for a store too that does Add up.
  4. Prices for those mid grades are a chunk higher now than in january
  5. that has no been implemented and may not apply to 2021
  6. sure. i wish they would because i always bought his early stuff. but they never did a great job with the character. he was interesting briefly in the 90s when he had his series, but it got blehhh. nothing seems to stick with him. Nothing about him on Agents of SHIELD made him all that interesting.
  7. This was not excitedly received by the LGBTQ comic reading community, apparently. At least what my wife read me. It seems forced. By that I mean making him a CA right away. Why not introduce the character, perhaps in a current existing title, like Daredevil. Heck, even Captain America (whoever that is right now). Develop him a bit. And then do this? So is CA going to be like Green Lanterns, we may have 4 or 5 of them at any given time? I guess we had this already over the years.
  8. "On the contrary, comics that are from the 1930s, ’40s, and ’50s are often worth millions since they feature some of the biggest superheroes known today." I wish my comics from the 30s, 40s, and 50s were "often" worth millions!
  9. They have a ton of back issues. They just aren't all that good. They used to be better.
  10. Yeah, but it really needs to be a 9.8 for this to work. a 9.4 loses money and a 9.6 may only be break even or even lose too.
  11. I am not pretending this raw outlier sale is indicative of anything: https://www.ebay.com/itm/CAPTAIN-AMERICA-162-NM-NM-UNREAD-ORIGINAL-OWNER-COLLECTION-CGC-THIS-/402713821522?hash=item5dc39d4152%3Ag%3AatAAAOSwwkhgOCS5&nma=true&si=BZbpsjZvXBDBh7scMVfgI%2BAabNw%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 43rd appearance of Sharon Carter heating up? 1st time Cap learns Peggy Carter's rea name and that she is related to Sharon?
  12. the "key" is figuring out what run filler might be a future key, or semi-key, or semi-semi-semi-key remember when 4th or 5th appearances of a hot character (sabretooth comes to mind) mattered? there are so many books that have minor 1st or second appearances in them or deaths... captain america 285 features the death of the patriot, a character that had been around in one form or another for 40 years, was captain america for a while, etc., was featured on SHIELD (sort of) for a year, and it is a $2-3 book raw (no, i don't have a pile of them) ... he's been dead long enough they might bring him back...(of course he would be 100, but I digress...)
  13. Gorilla glue is for hair, silly. Tide pods are for cleaning your mouth.
  14. i still don't understand WTF the guy was saying. the market moves to quickly, and shipping takes too long, for this to be viable
  15. GPA ought to start doing so. The numbers become particularly meaningless for later newsstands vs. directs where most of the value is being a newsstand. for many 80s books the scarcity of newsstands, even in 9.8, vs. directs, is not a reality.
  16. it is a thing, but I think we have established on that book that newsies and directs are pretty much even in terms of slabs on ebay at least. that doesn't stop people from not knowing any better from assuming the newsstand is much rarer. indeed, looking at 9.8s up right now, newsies might be the slight majority.
  17. outside of newsies and bizarro auctions (see above), raw copies have been hitting $30-40, so I guess anything goes on a 9.8....
  18. i can assume anything can happen with 9.8s, but $81 with time to go on this raw auction, and it isn't even a newsstand...? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wolverine-1988-88-NM-vs-Deadpool/233929280777?hash=item3677458d09:g:lKQAAOSwhsZgTNXV maybe yogolak and his conspiracy theories have a point...
  19. they were undervalued in the 70s I suppose. If you have a budget of $100-130 a month you can pick up one half decent lower grade book a month. Or ten pulps with awesome covers: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fantasy-Fiction-June-1953-Vol-1-2-The-Digest-Enthusiast-No-Label/303914519152?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111314%26meid%3Dba98752546a94f9da0d6d3ced55a2d88%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpf%26sd%3D164497545481%26itm%3D303914519152%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv9PairwiseUnbiasedWeb&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851
  20. And not if you don't read the auction description and have no idea what you're bidding on.
