  1. Sell it now. Moderns are selling very well right now, and there are currently no signs of a catalyst for Domino attention. I had one just like yours, a 9.6, that I submitted myself, and I sold it earlier this year. I netted a profit on it, even at the lowly 9.6, lol.
  2. 9.6 here too, looks brand new. Good thing CGC doesn’t grade against miscut.
  3. Also at 9.0 that corner crease sticks out on an otherwise NM book. It’s definitely white pages, a very nice book.
  4. The modern sports card market is absolutely nuts compared to modern comics. My brother is heavy into live card breaks and as much as I considered joining him, I just don’t have a passion for the cards, athletes, or the sports they play. He’s pulled many 4 figure and even 5 figure cards. Modern comic equivalents simply don’t exist for many of these. One needs to go to bronze and older to match values. I’m amazed at the amounts he pays to buy new packs of cards. As hot as comics prices seem now, they are bargains by comparison. If a sizable group of card collectors get into comics we’ll see massive price increases, especially on rare exclusive moderns. There are signs in the card world this is already starting. The modern sports card collector doesn’t have the nerd stigma comics have been dealt, and the professional sports market values are way beyond printed conics. But comics have been losing that negative nerd connotation in the modern age and the dozens of movies grossing billions of $ have been changing perceptions and increasing characters’ values. I’m just here for the ride.
  5. It’s always on a book by book basis. Some command no premium even at 9.8, Usually non key issues from early modern age. Other newsstand editions are ghosts, and fetch premiums even in low grade. Like Thor: God of Thunder 6 (2013) Then there’s everything in between.
  6. This right here is why I can’t bring myself to buy an ASM300 9.8 online. I bought a 9.6 for $630 and called it good.
  7. If slabbing to sell, I’d get venom label. If slabbing to keep I’d get standard label. Custom labels are marketing tools, advantageous for CGC and slab sellers. ive got a stack of Carnage keys I’m sending in that’ll get custom labels, because they seem to fetch more premium than they cost.
  8. That’s a personal preference choice. It’s not “trimmed” as in restoration, but a miscut. Unfortunately, CGC does not grade on centering/alignment/miscut unless it’s especially terrible to affect readability or art. Since you noticed it on this book you’ll probably never be happy with it. There are many 9.8 graded examples of ASM 300, be picky, there will be more.
  9. I think it looks cool. We are living out the evolution of comic book collecting. Custom labels are not going away; quite the opposite. I see small premiums being paid for low end books with custom labels. CGC is nailing it on this one. Personally I feel I am becoming old school in preferring the book gets the attention over the label, but I’m not going to dislike the practice. I think ASM 300 with a Venom label works well considering Venom isn’t on the cover but gets 1st full appearance. If I see a ‘tec27 with a Batman custom label it’ll look tacky and not add anything positive. So there’s two extreme examples pro and con, then there’s everything else in between. My next batch of moderns to get graded are going to be full of custom Marvel labels, because I see resale values increased more so than cost of the label.
  10. I agree. This book seems to have a higher newsstand sell and survival rate than others of the same vintage. That said, I’ve been tracking the 9.8 sales and see newsstand 9.8’s tend to carry a 12-15% premium over their direct counterparts. There have been a few outliers on the high side for both editions that had perfect centering on auction. this book sells so often and had terrible centering overall, it’s worth the effort to find a well centered copy without cover tears more so than strictly finding a 9.8 newsie, but a newsstand 9.8 copy is measurably harder to find than direct.
  11. Buy cold potatoes. Resist temptation to buy sizzling hot baked potatoes with butter and sour cream.
  12. It looks like a newsstand edition. Apparently there was newsstand distribution for Gears of War. Cool beans. Your post is hard to read, by the way.
  13. I own none, I don’t get it. I sold off most unopened action figures from 90’s because I just don’t appreciate them like I do my comic books. They also take up too much space. the only toys I buy now are the ones that come with a comic; I take the book and sell the toy.
  14. I think a 9.6 with a good press. i submitted and own one of these as a 9.6. On mine the staple area looks better but it has color breaking ticks that knocked it down.
  15. To answer the question, members can flag a sale for review by go collect. If eBay records it as a completed sale I imagine it will stay in the gocollect records. I’ve done this multiple times, primarily when a book is misappropriated (different variant/printing than recorded as, for instance.) Considering how many sales need to be entered every day there must be some automatic uploads that will have a failure rate. I like to think I help keep the books I watch accurate.
  16. The circled lot mentioned “assorted comics” in addition to the main lot of modern Captain America miniseries. I actually looked at all the pictures and spied a Maximum Carnage Acclaim video game promotional comic. I knew this was hard to find and jumped on the bin at $30. after press, graded at 9.4. Now these are becoming more desired with Carnage getting some exposure. $600 and climbing...can’t believe it. I also nabbed a second copy later on eBay in a similar situation; paid $88 and it’ll be about a 9.2. Haven’t sent it out for grading yet. It came with other decent Venom books, so all good. ive been looking for cheap copies of this book, I doubt I’ll see any more than my 2 now that it’s popularized.
  17. It could very well be accepted as the first published appearances and may be sought out by fans of those characters. I doubt it will ever be as desired as the 1st comic book appearances though. Wizard was essentially advertising these ahead of time. Advertising and previews aren’t usually a big deal to most collectors, more of niche to round out a personal collection.
  18. I was just about to start offering crypto for payment. I just finished setting up via coinbase, so there’s about 20 different currencies to pick from.
  19. I had 1 comic I won cheaply in a poorly made auction. The seller claimed they lost it or some other similar nonsense and refunded my money. it’s rare but it happens in my experience.
  20. I use legal size filing cabinets. The slabs sit sideways (staples down) within individual hanging file folders. They pack pretty tightly yet not pressing against or touching each other. They can also be slid fore and aft on the rails.
  21. I don’t have a pic of mine but I think the only book I’ve got in 2019 with potential is Venom 9. I’m curious to see what Marvel does With Dylan Brock.
  22. Ive sold a handful of graded books with them and have been happy. I also buy new and old books from them, far too many, but that’s my own problem. Overall my favorite online comic book store.

It’s bittersweet, good to see him getting his due for a superior service, tough to actually pay up for it. Joey did some pressing for me about a year ago and I was surprised at how inexpensive it was considering his excellent reputation on CGC and CBCS boards. He revived my very low grade, twisted Iron Man 1 into a presentable copy.
