  1. Very interesting and informative. I knew there were things the looked the other way , but I am definitely surprised at the amount of what they let slide . Do not get me wrong I completely understand to preserve some of these historical items they do need to be conserved, and that when there is value in something there will always be someone trying to walk the line to squeeze every last penny out of it they can. I guess I just held higher hopes for humanity than this. Which more and more I have come to realize just is not the case.
  2. To me any " followers" who remain hidden are technically " stalkers "
  3. What? I didn't say anything on the post you quoted about trimming nor does it say that on the label, although i do see how the person I quoted and commented on could be mistaken that way. To clarify what I was referring , I quoted Guardian Comics ,but was only referring to the part where he mentioned " restoration is when you add stuff" to which my comment was directed . I was not debating whether trimming is or is not restoration. I was saying that adding pieces does not ( obviously in cgcs book ) make a book restored. The actual label on the book I quoted is the superman 1 cgc Universal 0.5 that has the note " Logo & Superman images from original cover taped to color copy. COVERLESS " "Tape on centerfold ." Which is their exact punctuation. So adding a COLOR COPY to a COVERLESS book does not equal restored when you TAPE ORIGINAL PIECES to that COPY. Which is what I was commenting and cringing at. If I were to send in a book that has tape on it MOST of the time it comes back CONSERVED. If I send in a book that has a COLOR COPY COVER to a COVERLESS original it either comes back as RESTORED or QUALIFIED depending on method of attachment. To be fair I really do not have any MAJOR issues with this book as it is neat. I was just surprised at CGCs choice in UNIVERSAL LABEL . Nothing to do with the book itself or who ever assembled it.
  4. So I was just looking at unread content on the message boards and see this.
  5. This is an issue CGC is correcting. They have a few mistakes out there that have been discussed in another thread here.. However if you have other examples definitely let CGC know as they are working to correct these mistakes.
  6. The few previous posts show they do exist . I actually got the upside down on in a lot of other books and it sat in my box unnoticed for a while. Then when I saw some of the prices for the blue errors I remembered getting a 25 in that lot , but couldn't remember what color holo or condition , just that I had one. Even then at first I thought nope not an error, but upon closer inspection I realized that the image was flipped. Which wasn't that long ago. It sat in my box for a few years and considering the way it was just thrown in that original lot , I do not believe the original seller realized it either. The fact this one made it out makes me believe there likely are more out there.
  7. You are welcome and Welcome to the Boards! I agree , if I had kept the one I had that had that hair it would have had to go back as well. I can say that these boards have a TON of knowledge and almost anything you have a question to someone will have an answer, although sometimes you will get an insufficiently thoughtful person tossing out random garbage from their pie hole. Best not to respond. Don't let them bait you in no matter the seemingly insulting reply. Good luck with the reholder!
  8. As many have stated there are many different iterations of the errors from blue/green , blue , cracked, and I have one that the holo was actually inverted and placed upside down. Although mine is on the Xmen 25.
  9. I started a thread about the same type of issue( Hair in the case) which I did sell and the new owner had it reholdered by CGC for free. Here is the topic which also includes a few other examples of what has been found inside of CGC cases as well as contact info on how to get the reholder.
  10. Funny thing is the 2 New ones (Superboy 10 and Justice League 94) are both December 1994. Which is also the case for almost all of these most recent discoveries. Man of Steel 39, Batman 513 , Guy Gardner 26, Legionaries 20, Catwoman 16, Looney Tunes 9 . The only new one recently discovered that was not from December 1994 was the Impulse Annual 1 from 1996.. and to think right before all these you can see I asked if there was ever a 20 pack from December 1994. Turns out no, but BAM a bunch of 2 packs and some singles pop up..
  11. Yeah that ones been on the list. I have been after 705 myself, but when it hit nosebleed prices I had to drop out.
  12. Yeah me too , but no where near that total, even if there were some decent rare and undiscovered ones
  13. Ok so another BIG sale from goodwill on Ebay , but it contained several that only a few had been found Guy Gardner #26, Batman #513 and now some NEW UNDISCOVERED ones as well. Superboy #10 Justice League #94
  14. First off. Wow these have all been amazing books with some equally amazing Signatures and sketches! I have looked and kept an eye out as well as followed this thread and other threads. Anyone out there have or could help facilitate a Rob Van Winkle " Vanilla Ice" TMNT CGC Signature Series? Even if someone just has an image of one to share.
  15. I get that and i am torn. It is not that I disagree with their assessment. It still just surprised me being blue label. It may be remaindered, but with a reproduction cover with original pieces attached to that reprint and that attached to a coverless and having tape I still am just torn , had this been done to almost any lower value book and it would more than likely been either green or conserved. Don't get me wrong I would still love to have any piece of the original much less a page, cover , coverless, or this copy which I agree that it definitely is something that may not ever be seen again.
  16. Besides still not any more batty than looking for Variants that may or may not exist. Which applies to these DC Universe, The Mall Variants, CPV, Foreigns , 2nd Print Newsstands , Mark Jeweler's, etc... All of which I try to keep hunting.
  17. Haha.. Rabbit Hole.. besides I am not after all of them across the board, mainly just Superman ( although I do just keep picking them up when I find them). Which still is a TON of them. Here are some more packs that have some superman DC Universe in them.. and then these which it has been a while since I have done another group shot ( will have to dig these all out at some point and update, sort, and get new pictures ) I know I have added a LOT more.
  18. Foreign newsstand All of these newsstand are also signed by John Byrne Sorry about the directs just didn't want to dig to take just a picture of the newsstand. Spider-man is a Mark Jeweler's And of course my collection of 2nd print newsstands.
  19. I am not even so sure about that anymore.. Did you see this mess CGC Graded Universal? Although they at least note it all on the label even if it is Blue.
  20. Since we wandered off on expensive exotic cars and fraud add a dash of Florida Man and someone who obviously didn't know he could have invested in fractional shares..
  21. I was referring to you mentioning the intended back cover ad being glued, which was common for the printer proofs as they were working out layout and finalizing for print. Looking at the cover it looks good and do not see any real changes from the finished distributed copy so this was probably pretty close to the final print mock up. Definitely an amazing piece of history to own. I too hoped the numbers would help , but without knowing the layout codes we can only speculate. I checked with all of the packs I have and potential ones this could reside, unfortunately no upc or box numbers match any displayed at the bottom of the page. Although since this made me look I did notice that there were two variations of the death doomsday single set pack that had different 75 prints , but the same box upc. The Dual pack has a completely different upc( which was to be expected) as well as the 2 pack.
