I suspect your friend being in Los Angeles may be the key to his success with that app, but I live in a small “big city” and the one time posted CGC books on OfferUp it was pretty much a waste of time.

Posted up about about a dozen books and only one got any “action” … if several messages asking ‘how low will you go’ nonsense counts as action.

Best I got was an offer of $100 on a book I was asking $225 for with the ‘you’re asking way too much bro’ message.  Pointed out that completed auctions on eBay for the book in same grade went for more than what I was asking and the cheapest one currently listed was $100 over what I was asking.  Radio silence to that.

Left the books up for about a week and then pulled them and listed them on Shortboxed where I sold the ‘way too much’ book for my asking price within a week.

IDK, I may give it a shot again at some point but it just seemed like a bunch of Craigslist low-balling hustle to me. But again, I think it might have a lot to do with the area you’re in.

Location likely is key, and regardless of his success I've always had that "craigslist" feeling about it which is why I haven't pursued it at all. Just thought I'd pass the info along for those who dare.

Thanks for looking everyone. Think this book is safe for a modern submission? Worried about having it moved up to standard.

Also not sure what that black mark is across the top. Is it a manufacturing defect?

    9.2/9.4

Need to press out the stacking crease then it'll surely be higher. The black mark is not a fault.

    Thanks for posting.

    Agreed.

And yes (it's safe) to use modern if you aren't in a hurry, it won't get bumped up.

They will not verify the signatures and there are no work arounds.

You'll likely get a qualified label with a note.

You can probably request that they just grade the books blue label with the signatures counted as defects.

but there’s no cgc options for verification.

And IF they honor the request and give a blue label instead of green it will still say "NAME WRITTEN ON COVER IN MARKER" (Or pen, pencil, whatever)  Sometimes it will say "STAN LEE WRITTEN ON COVER IN MARKER" but still no authentication.

Al Milgrom remarque w/press made it from CCS, went to SFG today 11/22/21.

Al Milgrom remarque w/press hit G/QC today.

Clay Mann remarque w/press hit SFG today.

Tony Daniel remarque w/press hit GEI today.

Milgrom shipped today. Grade is lower than expected. 9.2 ☹ Book was 9.6 IMO before CCS did it's thing. ...so it goes.

I'd have to check the signature forum,  but it might be easier to ask....

In what order were those signings? Did any jump the line? And for my own admittedly selfish reasons, where did the Jim Lee signing fit into the smorgasbord?

..... err did anyone get a bingo? Haha

I believe Lee was before Milgrom, but Milgrom was definitely before Mann/Daniel and I THINK Mann and Daniel were at the same time.

Hey all, this may be an odd question, but is it possible for a comic to be somewhat loose inside the actual CGC slab? Not literally loose, but for the comic in the inner sleeve to kind of jiggle around inside the slab? I was looking at a book and the seller let me know that it had this issue, and I'm trying to make sure if this is something that's maybe an uncommon but known issue, or if that's a significant red flag. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

From my experience it's incredibly common for the inner well to move around or jiggle a little bit. Tiny knocking noise if you turn them from side to side, or shake them a bit if you're into that.

I've seen some listings recently on eBay and elsewhere where folks have been posting pics of their graded comics with some form of obstruction--usually a piece of tape--covering up the label where the barcode and verification # is. Personally, this strikes me as fairly shady, since I tend to use the verification # to both make sure the item is legit, and also ideally get graders notes if it's a lower-grade copy. I was just curious what other folks thought of this practice.

I've never understood it, and I don't like it. I suspect it's either for some sketchy (not a pic of the actual book being sold) reason or possibly some overly paranoid "privacy" reason.

What ends up happening? I guess I just give it Time. Seems silly as itll update or it won't tonight. It just caught me off guard.

Does yours usually when post dater but label printed, does it usually still make it to the carrier the day the label is printed?

Usually start seeing activity on the day CGC has listed as the ship date.

Like they marked it shipped but for tomorrow, even though the label printed.

Just odd, it's not the weekend nor a holiday lol

If they really have that many books and packages that they cant get it out the door, even when it was marked shipped at 2 central time.

    Just found it odd.

This happens to me often. Shows shipped for a future date, tracking shows label created with no other activity.
