  1. I noticed that too. I want it, very badly, but I'm a chintzy bugger. 50 quid is more than I can afford just before my hols.
  2. Here's an odd one... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MARVEL-DAREDEVIL-SILVER-AGE-COMPLETE-BOUND-VOLUME-ORIGINALS-26-50-COMPLETE-UK/283493018799?hash=item4201802caf:g:lqoAAOSwsZtc5Vk5 Sounds like the seller is the one who had them bound.
  3. You're right, of course. I just can't get over the idea that somewhere out there is a Marvel Collection with Captain Britain 8 in it. Or a Double Double with something like Conan 1 or Hulk 102 or something. Silly, I know, but this is the border between a keen interest and a dangerous (irritating) obsession.
  4. Niiiice! And very hard to find in that condition in a pence variant.
  5. I thought that's what you meant. I hope I didn't come across as overly pedantic. I have a similar pre-coffee condition, we only differ in quantity. I'm foggy until about halfway through my second pot.
  6. This is only really relevant for the tail end (late 70's early 80's?) of the single price pence variants. Prior to that, there was no direct market for comics in the UK. Not sure when the first dedicated comic shop opened here, but it was all newsstand in the early years.
  7. Are those images from your personal files or your research files? Ever contemplated a thread to track the innards of any of the remaindered books?
  8. Well done, mate! Have a drink. You've earned it. Chin chin!
  9. Wow... Sea Devils!!! Seriously, though... That is a score and a half!!
  10. Fair enough. To be honest, I want them to get it right, once "right" has been definitively determined. I'm just a sarcastic bugger. Ditto that!
  11. I'd estimate the chances as a direct analogy to the ratio of pence variants to standard copies of any silver age key currently in the census. In a word: slim.
  12. We might if all UK, Canadian, etc currency was "published" in the US, which it ain't. To my mind, the sole factor in classifying pence variants as variants is their relationship to the standard US copies, eg: they were all printed, published, piled up & pushed out as one lot intended for a number of destinations, one of which just happened to be another Anglophone country (or 3). The "vary" part of variant in the case of pence variants only really relates to the indicia. The indicia for all of them has the price in US currency, but the cover price varies in that it is in UK currency.
  13. Sgt Fury #1 Also on Ebay now: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sgt-Fury-and-his-Howling-Commandos-comic-1-May-1963-Marvel-GD-phil-comics/362624362634?hash=item546e18a88a:g:kuEAAOSw6IlcuKU~ Can everyone tell I'm skiving at work...
  14. Strange Tales 93 anyone? It's up on Ebay currently: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Strange-Tales-93-Vol-1-Marvel-Comics/333170778974?hash=item4d9286a35e:g:640AAOSw9GdcrwcK From Germany, like that makes sense.
  15. Yeah. Where else are you going to find a platinum Iron Man and an orange Thor. Again, wish it was mine. Just saw one of the other issues of this go for about £20 over the weekend. More than I'm comfortable paying.
  16. S'okay Lucy. I forget my own name if'n it's not sewed in my drawers.
  17. Yeah, sure. If you're bottom feeding. This, by the way, is how I get most of my comics.
  18. Never mind your Honey Nut Loops & your silly Muesli... Rabbit hole...Coco Puffs... Wait a minute... That's not chocolate...
  19. Cheers, Redshade. That's where I peeled the images from, though I think I'm justified as the 12p variant is actually my scan.
  20. Simply put, Blighty. We live in a land of mists and gloom. Mostly. Also, especially in the early days, the comics were shipped as sea cargo. So, more damp. Have a look at the census for Silver Age keys like Hulk #1, Amazing Fantasy # 15, etc. Anything higher than an 8 is bloody rare.
  21. Sad but true, I'm afraid. Even here in Penceland they're very much frowned upon. Having said that I and several others have noticed a general lift in prices for key issues, especially high grade keys. They're so rare in comparison to cents copies. On the bright side, it's cheaper to build a decent collection! Search the census to compare numbers. Then check out more of the pence related threads. Informative.
