  1. As the dancing banana implies, Daphne is a happy bunny. And only 13 quid for the lot. Nice copies, too.
  2. That's just odd. I used to work for Stateside Comics PLC, many, many moons ago. Can't imagine why anyone would spend the money to bind such a random assortment of mid to low grade comics in such a nice outer cover. Maybe someone was taking a class in bookbinding & it was a workshop project.
  3. I blame Superboy myself. I agree with your lack of enthusiasm and I think it stems from a general lack of interest in those Bronze DC titles. When I were young, I had less than no interest in Teen Titans. Why would I when there were the X-men to collect? I know I'll get some people riled when I say that DC has always seemed waaay too tame to me, especially when I was young and impressionable. Jimmy Olsen? I wanted to kick his arse! The Punisher, though, he was dangerous. And Werewolf by Night? Scary stuff. I love the DC horror stuff & some of the more oddball things like Plop, but I just cannot get a fire lit for the likes of Arak Son of Thunder. This, on the other hand, I will always want multiple copies of. Partly because of the random-ness of those 5p outliers. The world is truly a strange place, full of amazing and interesting things. Most of which are comic books, or comic book related.
  4. Nah, that's four candles, innit?
  5. Very nice for a tenner. Electricity? What sinister sorcery do you speak of?
  6. Nice indeed. I'm always on the lookout for these. Like little nuggets of buried treasure, they are (occasionally).
  7. Never thought of it quite that way. Though I have often felt the power of the dark side. Especially after a big bowl of chilli.
  8. Here's a couple of Greek copies I used to own, just to give us an international flavour & maybe encourage peeps to post some more obscure stuff.
  9. That's some serious blowback!
  10. Happy Star Wars day everybody! or: is this just another excuse to post pictures of your Star Wars stuff? (yes, btw)
  11. I was following that lot & bid on their other one. These are the kind of lots that keep me constantly searching...
  12. Just been reading this - How's that for cosmic unconsciousness!
  13. And with Sandia Labs in your backyard, you can't even blame it on Groening.
  14. Hang on... Don't you mean a flying variant, pig variant dog (Canadian edition)?
  15. I thought the minor league team in Albuquerque was the Dukes. Saying that, I ain't been there for a decade or three.
  16. Picked this up the other week while no one else was looking -
  17. But not offensively fair Yes. Exactly. Based on what they say in their self-promotional ad-burst, no. No it will not. Looks like it's all about the cover swipe.
  18. That was how I read it, yes. It offends my OCD beyond measure. That's the implication, but it's only an implication. The whole thing feels like it just wasn't properly thought through. Like they'd made an arbitrary decision (or a series of unconnected and mismatched arbitrary decisions) and then had to look like they'd done it on purpose so came up with this vague, wishy-washy explanation when what they really want to do is pretend that foreign comics that aren't instantly recognizable as "keys" don't really exist as independent items.
  19. There is. It's called the Grand Comics Database.
  20. So is this (or should I say 'Rong')- To help with such an immense and murky history of comic books, CGC has teamed with Rob Rong (@ForeignComicKeys on Instagram), a leading international comic book collector who provided his expertise and extensive database to accurately identify and categorize the country of origin and publisher for each comic, two critical factors in certification. Additionally, CGC researches the contents of each international comic book it grades, which may vary widely for a particular issue printed in multiple countries. I don't want to denigrate a guy with an Instagram page just because I've never heard of him, but is he the only one they consulted with? What about the GCD? I know it ain't perfect, but at least they're trying to maintain an accurate record.
