  1. This thread has gone eerily quiet... Winkled this out of a grubby little lot on eBay UK - By far the best item in the lot & one I've been on the lookout for for a long time.
  2. I love the Elric series. Got a very nice #1 a few weeks back. Twisted Tales & Alien Worlds were my favorites when I was a kid. Still on the lookout for a VF/NM copy of Vanguard Illustrated #7. Very tough with that black cover. Got all of the PC Somerset Holmes, but none of the Eclipse, yet. Groo is not easy to find in the UK, for some reason. I tend to grab whatever I see regardless of which series it's from. Will do.
  3. I love it. Seen it a few times. Most other copies I've seen look worse than this, if you can believe it.
  4. Snagged this for pocket change - Not the best copy, but the price was right.
  5. I don't want to step in anything here, but Bermuda was (& still is) part of the British Commonwealth, not the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom is England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland and only those four nations. Even the Channel Islands (Jersey, Guernsey, Sark, etc.) and the Isle of Man are technically outside the UK. Sorry for being pedantic.
  6. Some freebies from your favourite boardie and mine, Marwood & I - You're a gent, mate. I owe you one.
  7. No date, huh? Well, there's nothing like a bit of research when you're in an industry that trades on minute detail, is there? No, I guess there isn't. Just spent, oh, call it a minute, looking up Super Adventure on GCD. Admittedly, not all entries are fully indexed. Number 10 is. And number 13. Both 1951. Now, I'll go out on a limb and say that 11 comes right between 10 & 13, with a little room to spare. So, it would follow logically (I know, I know) that 11 was also published in 1951. If CGC mistrust the veracity/authenticity/accuracy/etc of GCD's indexing, a stab at a date would only be one more error in a census entry (or on a label) already filled with errors.
  8. Is it me, or are they claiming that the Super Adventure 11 that reprints the cover of WF31 was actually published 47 years before the original? I know we can be a bit pedantic 'round these parts, but that's just careless.
  9. Well done, Velma! Those buggers are getting harder & harder to find. I'm kind of wishing I kept the Aquaman one I bagged a while back.
  10. Yeah, sure, if you like mice in your beer. Take off, eh?
  11. Me too. Very nice. Me too again. This is a good example to illustrate the issue here. This: is reprinted in these: The label on yours doesn't even get it wrong in the right way. Does that make sense? Don't answer, Marwood. As you say, no mention of ASM 101, or the first appearance of Morbius, or the second half of either of these, or the cover swipe, or Thor 165. It does say what it is, which is Spider-Man Weekly Comics 140. I guess that's halfway right. If they'd done what they've been doing, your label would say "Amazing Spider-Man #101" on top & 'Marvel Comics, 10/75' under that & maybe 'Spider-Man Weekly Comics #140' really small under that & probably 'UK Edition' somewhere, which would be completely wrong for a number of reasons, one of which being that SCW 140 only reprints the second half of the original story. So if you submitted SCW 139 what would the label say? Am I nitpicking?
  12. Another chunk nearer to my goal of a full set of Pacific Comics -
  13. Managed to snag these last week for not much money -
  14. Cheers for that link. Great read. I actually lived in San Jose (just around the corner, really) when those pictures were taken. Of course, I was 2 years old at the time, so I can't really say I missed out on anything. Who let this kid in? Has anyone checked that he's washed his hands? And what about this? Could he have maybe found a better way to use the ladder?
  15. Also, I meant to say... 'Look Velma! It's the Mystery of the Harvey 15c variants!' 'Jinkies!' Me? Distracted? Pff!
  16. Got it. I'll save these specific issues in my searches & see if I can turn any up. I like an outside chance. I find it's easier to measure failure using the quantity theory. Speak soon.
  17. Ok, Velma. I'm in. Sorry I've missed this until now. I knew you had something on the boil. Nice work, as usual. I was just toying with the idea of collecting Harveys & you've given me a gentle shove over the line. Seriously though, I admire your tenacity when it comes to research. Really thoroughgoing. I just wish I had the time to devote to some of my own pet projects. So, if it's not clear enough from the rest of this, I'm saying thank you for digging this interesting gem of comicdom from the sh!theap of Western culture. P.S. - how many are we still looking for?
