I seem to have found another newsstand second printing and would like all of your opinions on it. Even though it’s an Archie this seems like the right thread for it. I have a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Movie newsstand second print Canadian variant. I have held this identical cdn variant newsstand copy in my hands before as a first print, so we can rule out anyone’s possible assumptions that all the cdn copies were 2nd prints. Also it appears all the ads for the 2nd printing are identical to the ads in the first printing. I have to date also not found a direct copy or USA newsstand copy 2nd printing, although I would “assume” they would also exist. TMNT adventures books are full of 2nd-5th printings as well as the direct AND newsstand cdn variants so a 2nd printing of a newsstand probably shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. Can anyone who has a copy of this book in whatever version confirm any other 2nd printing copies. Any info or thoughts would be appreciated.

Figured I’d start a new thread for a very exclusive club. CPVs are hard enough to find to begin with, but double cover CPVs are an extreme rarity. I’ve seen a few posted on ebay, I think a “little shop of horrors #1” being the most recent I’ve noticed. My book to start with is a real doozy..the holy trifecta in my opinion. A CPV, double cover and key issue all in one. Enjoy, and please continue to add any you may have.

Does anyone else remember Unknown Worlds comic shop in Toronto?

That looks like the right location. 👍🏻 Just west of Pape on the Danforth. Do you remember the store or are you just bringing up a picture of the address on the flyer? -

I was recently looking through some old comics I hadn’t touched in decades and in-between one of the bags and the boards I came across a Halloween sale flyer from an old comic shop in Toronto called Unknown Worlds, circa late 1980s/early 1990s, and it triggered some great old memories. It was an amazing store and even to this day I can remember walking through the front door and taking in the strong smell of pulp that filled the air. I remembered it so vividly that I decided to draw a quick sketch of where everything was located. It had a massive tiered new comic rack, lots of back issue bins and the entire wall was covered in high end comics. It was marketed as a sci-fi/horror book shop and the entire back end of the store was geared specifically to that but I never actually went back there so I can’t for the life of me remembered what it looked like. The store had two big front windows but they were covered up with posters or something so the place was always very dimly lit which added to the ambience of the place. Sadly it closed down sometime in the early/mid 1990s. I was wondering if any other Torontonians on these boards remember this place?

Absolutely idiotic. I love comics and CGC does a great job but they are NOT by any means an “essential service”. If anyone is wondering why they forecast over 100k deaths in the USA alone it’s because of idiotic things like this.

I need this issue. Its actually one of the tougher NKOTB issues to find, especially with the cdn variant pricing. Im currently putting together the Harvey cdn database right now and they are actually incredibly difficult to find. Keep the pics of Harveys coming -

Charlton Canadian Price Variants

I believe I may actually be wrong Marwood. When I said oct/84 I was looking at my original notes. I’ve only done about 25% of the research on charlton so far. April/May 84 may be the correct end date after all. I’m currently elbows deep in research for another publishers CPVs so I haven’t been able to spend the time necessary on charlton yet. There’s always the possibility they jumped back to cdn pricing for a few months later in the run, I’ve seen it before. Keep the discussion and research going. 👍🏻 -

The Archie Canadian Price Variants covered 113 separate titles/offshoots and just under 1,400 individual issue between Sept/1982 and May/1997. It would truly be an enormous task for anyone to try and collect every single copy. Should provide years of hunting fun. Sal -

Amadeus, whatever issues you have with anyone is your business, please don’t involve me. Everyone that has collaborated on it were complete professionals and have done spectacular work. As for the link to the blog I posted, all information relating to it is 100% correct. There has been hundreds of hours of research put into it between myself and the other involved parties. Please allow everyone to enjoy the blog for themselves.
