I count myself fortunate to have had the Famous First Edition as an eight-year-old so GA Batman stuff seems very natural to me. Imagine my shock to grow up and find out there aren't any newsboys on the corners shouting "Wuxtry!" Or was it "Extry!"? I can't remember, I'm sure Norrin Radd remembers. Marc

I voted for two of those in the superhero GA cover contest. I don't know if it was a comment by SeanK or if it was Batman Fan's mentioning how he takes his Batman 1 out a few times a year to enjoy reading it, but I can tell my subconscious is starting to wrap itself around the idea that it's the book I'd most like to own. Kind of underappreciated on this board because it's not as rare as certain DC keys but I think it's time for opinions to start shifting. Congrats!

I just sorted a low-grade copy of that into our boxes today. First Gold Kryptonite too. I think "unwanted baby" has a little different connotation today... Sharp book!

The below is for sure. Interesting to see such a nice Dollface and her Gang as well. I saw that comic for the first time about two months ago when we got a reasonably flat copy but not high-grade.

Another reason Dark Knight was under-ordered is that in the preorder packet from distributors we were shown just one blocky image from the book, which included a pretty lame-looking female Robin IIRC. Toss in the fact that I was having trouble selling any issues of Batman whatsoever and you can see why I ordered very few.

There are a bunch of amazing tank vs plane covers from say GIC 105-135. And 136 IIRC is tank vs. submarine. Check 'em out!

That makes sense. Btw, I love Colan's Conan story in SSOC 33.

You can get most archives for $33 or less, with free shipping. But considering the Showcase volumes have a lot more pages than an archive, your point is even stronger. Having said that, I really don't like the black and white reprints . The only comis I like that way are ones drawn to be that way--certain Eisner or Miller pieces, and a lot of Savage Sword of Conan.
