  1. I find the Dolly really disturbing but love the Fairy Tale one! I'll see what Lance O'Casey I can dig up. I have one issue plus the Mighty Midget version.
  2. There's probably not a lot of love for my man Lance O'Casey either. Cool monkey though.
  3. Roy Rogers is probably my mother's favorite boy comic after her favorite, Katy Keene and 2nd favorite Uncle Scrooge/Disney. However, I had a feeling Roy Rogers would be one of the problem to collecting all the westerns from a taste standpoint!
  4. That was a fun read! Seeing the thought ballon from across the valley (page 2, panel 3) made me think: Longest Thought Balloon distance ever! But knowing DC they probably had someone's thought ballon from space at some point. Scrooge, have you ever considered collecting every Western comic? Or at least the pre-codes? How hard would that be? How many comics? Marc
  5. The main Rudolph in the Bakertowne batch was the 1959-1960 issue. I'm not sure if there were any others. The DCs were in low quantity anyway. Not a lot of Harvey either as I recall, and those seemed especially low-grade and heavily inked. A decent amount of Pines books, esp. Mighty Mouse. TONS of Archies and Gilbertons. What's weird is that there were often just 2-3 issues of a title. For instance, there are mountains of three Katy Keene Pin-Up Parade Giants, but only a few of an issue between them. And the regular Katy Keene title which should have 6-12 different issues during that period, had only two copies in any quantity in the warehouse. It is definitely the same find with the Archie Christmas Stockings. Lots of #6, I believe a few #5s. As Montezuma said, you could sometimes find some very nice books and even the inked books usually had nice gloss and fabulous white pages. But there's lots of ink and warping and water damage on many/most. There must've been minimum 10,000 comics. Possibly much more. Btw, others who have been in the hobby a long time told me that this warehouse had been around and known for years and that books from it came out decades earlier. Marc I think so. My purchases were 1958-60 books from several publishers: Archie, Gliberton, Pines, Seaboard, Harvey, etc. There were some Rudolphs. Jack
  6. I think it's just that the "Bakertowne" warehouse was extremely thick with Archies and Gilbertons. I have a bunch of ink-spattered comics from both publishers. The copy you show is actually light for a World Around Us as those seemed particularly heavily inked. Marc
  7. Very good theory there Shep! Cool to see those "moderns" on the thread. The Swamp Things are a good story and I knew about the Demon one though I haven't read it. But had no idea about the Anarky one. I'll have to get it. Marc
  8. Big kudos to Aussie Russ who is one of the great guys on the boards. He built a box of purchases over the past few months, was always pleasant to communicate with, and put up with a little delay at the end when I was on vacation. Also thanks to Paratrooper and Shiverbones for their latest purchases. I also want to give some kudos to new members. Achilles for prompt payment on two X-Men shipments and Tony Edwards and Jay Tomio for just displaying good manners in answering my PMs. These guys really "get it" already, despite being new. Good additions to the community. Marc
  9. Big kudos to the two Andys, October and ThirdGreenham. Easy to deal with and fast follow-through. You guys have seen October's book. Thirdgreenham got lots of great DC war books including stuff like All-American Men of War 28 (1st Sgt. Rock prototype) and Star Spangled War Stories 5, 6, 9, and 10. Big thumbs up to Zipper68 and DKB who bought the majority of my Curator Red Sonjas and Conan Annuals. My first time dealing with both and they are great guys. Thanks to Lighthouse for two packages of TPBs. I was very happy with the service. (Your mileage may vary.) Thanks also to GACollectibles who hooked me up with a Rin Tin Tin for a customer of mine. Wish I could've bought your nice Bob Hope #2 but it was just too nice for my customer. Marc
  10. Well, you've gotten it off to a good start. Now since this would be an allowable post on the retailer marketplace thread, am I allowed to just make a short and sweet post: http://www.houseofcomics.com/goldenagecomics.html ?? I will have a lot of individual GA forum member only books that I'll be offering soon but I think it's about two weeks away. I have to take a little vacation before the big HOC scan project starts. Marc
  11. Thanks to Paratrooper for following through and buying lot after lot of paratrooper or parachutist covers as I keep digging them up. Dealing with him is highly recommended. Kudos to him for starting a thread on this interesting subset too. Marc
  12. And big thanks to SeanK who just bought our nicest Sugar and Spike. Plus a Batman.
  13. And how could I forget, kudos to Shiverbones who bought three DC 1950s books from me in person when I delivered them to the Halloween art show he was exhibiting at in Petaluma CA. For those of you who don't know, he's a fantastic artist with really cool work. Right up the alley of a lot of us on these boards.
  14. Thanks for another purchase! Thanks very much to whomerjay for the Cat-man purchase and for being so easy to deal with as well. Thanks to October for his Marvel Mystery purchase. Thanks to those who have sold me comics recently including FT88 and Lighthouse. Special thanks to those who have been so patient waiting for me to scan books or get back to you on curators or whatever. Really, really swamped right now. Marc
  15. God, I totally agree. I've never seen it either and it's outrageously good. The only thing is I kept looking over the image expecting to find some guys shooting at them somewhere. Guess I've been seeing too many busy Timely covers lately. Marc
  16. The guys on the DC Yahoo war list seem pretty iffy on Talaoc but I always liked him a lot on Unknown Soldier too! It's weird how I can be so familiar with PS 26 (and have been for years) yet somehow really missed #22. I now think #22 is really, really cool. Thanks for posting. Marc
  17. Angelo, I appreciate that very much! (Didn't know you were a board member...) Thanks for your purchase. Best, Marc
  18. Ah, another good new poster lured into the GA forum! Excellent.
  19. Thanks to all the forum members for the purchases today at the Sacramento convention. Neurosis, Seank, Jeff Li and Shin Kao. Great to see you guys as well as Jimm94 and CW today. Kudos to pirate for a box of DC war shipped super fast. I'm very pleased with them. Marc
