  1. I have never read any Stevens books. The covers are amazing and I have been following this thread since the beginning. Are the comics good or do most of you collect because of the covers? What would you recommend for me to pick up first. I want to try a few?
  2. Beautiful, I have been trying to get a raw one of those myself.
  3. Is the comic any good? Whats the basic idea behind the character? This first cover is super sweeeeet and having Steigerwald makes it that much cooler, don't have a siggy from him since the Turner days
  4. I bought a big stack of BAT books from Jon. They arrived quick and well packed. He is excellent to seal with and we had great communication through out the entire process...good stuff. Thanks
  5. This series has so many fantastic covers...wow!!!
  6. Is the Rocketeer series any good? I never watched the movie or read any of the comics.
  7. I never read any of this series before, is it any good? I know its fairly popular but I have never tried it. Very cool looking cover (thumbs u
  8. I don't think I have any of his comics, I will have to pick some up. I am loving this thread.
  9. He certainly knew how to draw the female body...WOW!!!
  10. I am not really into condition, I like them in nice shape but I don`t sell until I already have it replaced. I don`t mind adding dogs if its a key or rare card. If I can get it for a great price then I am all for it. Funny how every collector is different haha. Yes I agree the first and last cards of each set are usually tough to find in nice condition, old time storage and certainly didn't do any favors to those cards. A lot of my old cards are still wrapped in elastic bands, I enjoy the old school collecting and don`t want to give in to the new big business part of collecting. However I did just pick up a Ken Dryden OPC rc psa 8 which is a big addition for a Maple Leafs collector and fan haha. Interesting about those 1958-59 hockey cards. They were the first sports cards I ever had as a kid. I'd found four of them on the street in the late fall when I was in grade one. The first three were Detroit Red Wings, but the last one was a Chicago Blackhawk. When I saw that big Indian crest, I knew that had to be my favourite team even though I could not yet read the team name! The set is not quite complete. It's missing the Bobby Hull card. Back in about 1980 I had purchased a Hull card from an antique and assorted junk dealer for the princely sum of perhaps $15. At the time I thought it was in perfectly acceptable condition. It was actually in VG with rounding/wear of two of the corners. By the mid-nineties my condition demands were a lot higher so I banished the Hull from my collection. I traded it to a dealer for something like $1100 in credit. He put it up for sale for $1600 cash and it sat for years. He'd overpriced it. I've not yet replaced it. There are two problems. One is that demand for the Hull is very high since it is his rookie card and the supply is reduced by the fact that it was the last card in the set and thus more prone to pocket damage. The price of a NM Hull is thus egregious. The second is that the 1958-59 Topps hockey are prone to toning/yellowing - or else the card stock used was not consistently white. I want the whitest ones though whuch further reduces my selection. Moreover SGC does not penalize for toning so I don't trust their grading. Fortunately, I care not at all for centering and SGC penalizes off center cards so that creates a potential niche for me. My ideal therefore is a sharp, white card that's centered 80/20 to bring down the price to an affordable(?) $1200 or so. There's also another half dozen or so cards in the set that I'd like to upgrade to whiter ones but admittedly I'm being more than slightly fanatical.
  11. Is that Topps hockey set complete...Hull WOW!!! I also collect vintage sports cards. You have an amazing and diverse collection, thanks for showing it.
  12. Here is the link to the Digest thread I started. Its not just Archie but there is Archie stuff in there and it is a great thread to keep going with more Archie related digest. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=4130150&fpart=1
  13. The ongoing thread is a great one, I wish it was more active. There is also a couple Archie threads in the Gold Comic section. I am also a big Archie collector. My collection is 100% for reading and I have a lot of the keys and a huge collection. I have always collected digest as well. My budget limits me so I don't have any early big money books but I do my best. Here's a link to the Comics General Archie thread. There are a few more specialized ones in the Gold Section. Favorite Archie Covers Oh, and I collect everything Archie from 1941-1970, and select items post 1970.
  14. It is an interesting book. You can watch clips of him on youtube from an old TV interview done from prison. That sounds interesting, I have heard of that guy before.
  15. Anyone else have this item? It is the original that I owned.
  16. A big thanks to James Anyone have an extra #1, 21 and 155, GI Joe special 1 or key 1st app that they want to move? If they do drop me a pm. I don't need super high grade, I need more affordable issues as I am working with a budget. Ok - I've given away about 150 extra Joe books!!! So they are all gone except for a few Image/Devil's Due 'Joe books... Hope everyone enjoys then!
  17. Bought from me, great communication and fast paymnets. Scott
  18. Congrats on completing the run...that is a great accomplishment.
  19. Currently reading "The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer" by Philip Carlo. It is all about Richard Kuklinski, a very interesting read, Kuklinski was certainly one crazy dude.
  20. I saw that one but I thought it was a priced to high, is it? Is the "Welcome To Lovecraft" #1 the first app or first storyline for Locke & Key? There isn't any notes on the cgc slabs mention first app or anything.
  21. I just finished the 3rd hardcover, this series is awesome. I didn't find this one as good as the first two but it was still good. I couldn't stop reading the first two books, I just started and read them cover to cover, the third didn't have the same feel. I am really looking forward to the fourth book. Do anyone have a CGC slab of #1 "Welcome To Lovecraft" available? I am not looking for the series just a #1 to display in my tv room.
  22. I read the first 3 hardcover books and I thought it was awesome. Do anyone have the first issue (1st prints) available FS? If you do drop me a pm with the books and prices. Raw or graded is cool.
  23. Thats the one. First time I seen the cover, I was just going by some comments that was posted about it. It is still a cool cover, thanks for posting it (thumbs u
