RED SONJA from Nu Image/Millennium Films

in his autobiography from 2012, he talks about making this movie and the ins and outs of the process, literally. it's a good listen/read. and spoiler alert, yes, they slept together. -

it seems that many people do not understand the difference between 'oddly similar' and 'homage.' for example, xmen 135 is an homage to neil adams' classic xmen 56 cover. it's not oddly similar, it's designed to replicate the other design with different characters. same with xmen 104, which is homage to xmen 1.

i must have forgotten to put mine in this thread, or maybe i put it in the other asm thread. anyway, got this earlier this year from @machone79 and i think it presents well for the grade. plus the WP that i love. nothing compared to @skybolt copy, but i'm still happy with it.

roy, you have a lot of valuable insight to offer in the world of comics and comics related stuff. i've gained valuable knowledge from many, many of your posts over the years i've been here and researching older ones too. i have a great deal of respect for you. you like to ask questions, and start discussions and debates. i appreciate the curiosity of your mind and your interest in engaging others. these debates can also devolve into arguments, especially here on the boards. one thing i notice is that you insist on replying to everyone, all the time. we all like to have the last word, but it often just means a conversation devolves into bickering. and often, that results in yet another locked thread. i am not blaming you, but i would recommend letting more stuff go. block who you cannot deal with, and let others have the last word on stuff even if you disagree. it will make your life easier, save you alot of time, and hopefully save some threads here that people would prefer stay open.

well, before yet another movie thread gets locked, if they are making the surfer a woman, it's a big F. no way around it. i love a good strong female superhero. captain marvel in her first movie and avengers endgame was awesome and believable. the first wonder woman movie is tons of fun. valkyrie in ragnarok was a cool character and well portrayed. but literally no one needs yet another popular character from 60-70 years ago to be given a sex-change. the surfer's origin story is based around the fact that he sacrificed his true love shalla bal to save his world. mephisto later tries to tempt him to do his bidding by reuniting them in a classic story. yes, a female could also do this. but it is not the same, nor likely to be as good, imho. what's more, it's a big leap for those of us whose favorite character was a man for the last 50 years to just say OK, now it's a woman. again. more importantly, who needs this? are teenage girls suddenly going to care about the silver surfer if its a twenty something woman? marvels and many other recent marvel films indicate the answer is absolutely not. has there been a bigger marvel comics SA character yet to be portrayed by a live actor in a film from marvel/disney? so many of us have been anticipating SS entry into the mcu. i love that actress too. THE WITCH is one of the greatest art films in the last twenty years. but no. not silver surfer. surfer deserves his own movie, without the FF. and it needs to be a man. and a bald one at that! (too old now, but mark strong would have been awesome for this 20 years ago)

Are prices still climbing or have they eased up a bit???
alexgross.com replied to InfantTerrible's topic in Comics General
white pages are important, no doubt about it. but in the latest CL results, we see $7100 for a 9.0 with white pages and $2600 for an 8.5 with owwp. wtf? as someone who has routinely overpaid for white pages, this result is nuts. almost 5k for a half point increase in grade. and last gpa in a 9.0 was 5k from june, so it should have been more like 4k now. -
so, now i can ask, hows that 'marvels' movie doing?

agreed. comicconnects site is apparently much more modern and takes 9 minutes to load each page. however if theres one thing Borock can do at Clink, its add rear cover scans on at least any book over $100 value. not that hard. heritage does it. the last time i emailed them about a back cover scan, someone said they'd send it over, then they didn't. and they've gotten dozens of thousands of dollars from me over the years. that's an F in my book.

very sad news. sean was a very nice and cool guy. we did some deals and he also generously answered all of my questions about books and art that i was considering buying but knew little about. i saw this OA piece by andy macdonald somewhere and asked him about it because i loved it. he sold it to me right then and there for what he paid for it. really sad news. way way too young.
